The BuSchroder is a rare alox model. It´s a mod made to look like a +B Bushcrafter. Starting life as a relatively cheap Farmer, removal of the opener layer will do the trick.
For me, the BuSchroder is a slim and lightweight outdoor and garden work knife. I´m glad Magentus made me one, it´s with me 24/7.
PS I don´t think this will be a very large club.

Hmmm... Let me check my desks to see if I have any BuSchroder SAKs. :P ::)
-
Definitely gonna put one on my Christmas Wish List. But I expect Santa will say "huh?" and leave me a pair of socks instead.
-
I'm sure I have some of those hidden somewhere in my Champs.
-
Butch Butch Butch..... There are only 2 BuSchröders in existence. Here's the other one. The Vader to Ronalds Skywalker.
-
Is +B no longer producing the Bushcrafter?
-
Dunno - we bypassed the whole +B Empire and went underground. Anarchist style.
-

+B never did produce them. These, and others, were made for +B by Victorinox. The contract ended last year so the +B knives are all discontinued, although some are still available.

They are nice but how does anyone get by using a little bitty thing like that?
You done good. Sir. :multi:

Just go to Arkansas and you realy can find BACON like that. :ahhh

In less than an hour I´ll be leaving for a birthday party with the whole family as my father turned 75 a few days ago.
I won´t be needing any tools but I´m taking the BuSchröder and MiniChamp anyway.
I used the MC to clean my nails and trim my nose hair. I shaved, combed my hair and brushed my teeth. I dressed up nice and warm. Ready to go!

BuSchröder with alox Woodsman and Opinels #12. I like blade-and-saw combos.
-
I liked the idea for the +B Bushcrafter, as the Lumberjack seemed to me like the opener would be the least useful thing to someone in the woods, building all sorts of camp crafts. I would much prefer an awl in that situation. That said, I still liked the Farmer for that type of camping, in case someone brings or finds any food and drink needing opening, as well as the odd tinkering job. I suggested that the Farmer could be renamed as the First Class Scout.

No doubt the Farmer is a great scout knife.
The Bushcrafter will appeal more to the two-layer-Tuesday crowd. It´s a nice complementary tool for city slickers carrying a Compact who go out into the bush for a while.
-
Here´s the BuSchröder with Compact and Weekender.
I prefer the BuSchröder/Weekender combo over a Farmer because it adds a serrated blade and a corkscrew. For urban survival, the Compact adds scissors, hook, pin and pen.
-
Lightweight bush essentials.
I saw a Farmer review on Youtube where someone complained that the saw on his Farmer would not lock, rendering it useless as a fire starter. Instead, he said, he preferred a Leatherman (I forgot which one it was) on which the saw blade was linerlocked. I guess he never watched any other Farmer reviews because many show how to use the awl for fire starting.

I requested a mod user badge for the BuSchröder. It deserves one.

Newer members may wonder about the origins of the BuSchröder name. That is is a closely guarded secret known only to No Lifers and I would like it to stay that way. You´ll find out in due time. :salute:

do you mean the SAK box? :dunno: :D
-
No, you have to think outside the box. Inside the pocket, outside the box. :D
This particular box stores some common 84mm and 91mm SAKs, only a small part of my collection.

Welcome to the club, #3 :tu: :like:
The peening on mine is not perfect (modder´s words), but snap is. For a work knife peening doesn´t matter as much. Is the awl doing fine now?
-
Thank you
I agree, as long as it's tight enough to function it's fine, at the end of the day looks don't really matter on a work knife
The awl is still sticky, i need a smaller hammer i think as the reason for it being so tight can only be that i tightened it too much, i'm not quite sure how to rectify it as i don't really want to drill it out and redo, it works fine it just has no snap either end, hopefully it will loosen in time :tu:

Listening to some awesome Black Metal today and it inspired me to carry my BuSchröder - I don't need much encouragement though.

I still carry mine, every single day. Most of my other SAKs are stored away and don´t get carried anymore.

-
Oh Mags, I thought you were back in the SAKMC with your gorgeous red Farmer... Knowing you can´t do without the opener layer, now I feel guilty. :(
But I have this wonderful idea!
As BuSchroders are made by removing the opener layer from a Farmer, conversely you could mod your new Farmer into another Ron Who special by keeping the opener layer and removing everything else. You would have the best of both worlds! :D

Hey Mags, long time no see. What´s up?
Here´s a pic of the BuSchröder (down on the left) with more silver alox.
Just showing off. :D
PS
I think we should allow people to post pics of their BushCrafters.
As long as they understand that the BuSchröder is the real thing.
It´s hard to distinguish between them anyway.
-
I agree Ron - I effed up a bit with one of my recent posts - The more the merrier!
-
BuSchröder and T-Rex
-
Is it still a BuSchroder if the saw pivots at the other end or does that make it a Woodsman plus awl?
What is more comfortable in use, BuSchroder or Woodsman?
-
I used to have a Woodsman in Bugnard gold alox. I didn´t mind at all that the saw opened on the opposite end.
I would like to see a Woodsman with awl.
-
I'll add making something to the list.
Could be a while before it happens though, the list is a rather large one.
-
Gah, totally forgot to post the pic.
