Title: Fishing Badge request
Post by: Shuya on May 02, 2019, 07:50:58 PM
Hi folks,

finally got some fishing pics to properly ask for a badge.
I went fishing when I was a schoolboy for years, stopped when I moved out of my parents house (new area, interests and stuff). After years I started again when going on vacation (coastal fishing most of the time).
This spring I got a new fishing licence and bought a one day permit for 1st of may.
So in the early morning I grabbed my backpack (my fishing stuff is not much these days, I went for telescopic rods and only took the bare necessities in small boxes and some fish feed and lures (worms).

As the weather wasnt that good I started with spinning but only got few attacks on my lures without a hooked fish. It was raining and 5°C so I changed the spot and went for the worms on another rod with a small float (the river is only about 1m deep here so no heavy equipment is needed).
Here the fun started. catched a handfull of chubs which were about 25cm each, but set them free because of their small size.
After some time something larger made my float sink, my rod bend and the brake of my reel was buzzing.
Some minutes later I managed to land a nice brown trout, the first trout Ive ever catched since I was fishing on lakes and the sea before.

In all this I forgot to take a pic of my gear with a multitool to match the badge requirements which I had to make back home. That day I had a modified SOG PPP in my pocket, for crimping shot and cutting line. Removed the dull and useless file and replaced it with a BO saw I harvested from another SOG tool. Will replace that with scissors if I can find some parts.

The tackle I am using is really basic and lightweight.
One spin fishing rod, 1,80m long with cast weight 7-14g and a small reel with 5 pound line (0,18mm).
And one larger rod for the floats, 3,0m long, cast weight 10-20g and 5 pound line too (0,18mm).
Both pack into a nice small length and with three boxes (one with lures, one with floats and small stuff and the third one with hook remover and shot and stuff) I have a nice basic fishing kit.

Wish I had bought  longer rods, the spinn fishing one at 2,1m and the larger rod at 4m, but I get that going for now.
