Yep, nowadays they are manufactured in China from "German marine quality stainless" which is akin to 440C.

After testing these knives, I've discovered that the folding knives are probably the worst sailing knives out there. The blades never hold an edge, the bearings are always loose, and some of them are hard to open because the flipper and marlinspike brush against each other. If you are going to get a myerchins, get the fixed blade offshore systems, way better qualityWow. I have used the non-flipper captain for some years and never had similar issues, sorry to hear. The only minor “flaw” was the weigth, for a folder. I agree that they are not the best in holding an edge, but i found quite easy to fix that with few swipes on the sharpmaker. Anyway thanks for sharing!

Anytime man! Just from what I've gathered from my own experience and from others stories, the fixed blades and the older ones where of a much higher quality. I have a serrated offshore arriving in the mail soon with a couple different variations of the folders, just to see if it was just a lemon that I had. Keep watching, as I'll be starting a new thread soon dedicated to reviews of different sailing knives :cheers:
