Hopefully I can get this posted with the method that I will explain.
Lately when I have tried to post on this whole forum, a message comes up when I am finished typing my post and it says that my session has times out and to try re-posting agian.
The only way that I am able to post a message is to click on preview first and then post/submit.
This is a huge problem. Please, one of the moderators or founders or whatever do something to my account that makes me able to post things.
I cant even send people personal messages.

When you log on there's a drop-down menu for the duration of your session, with options from 1 hour to "forever"; try logging off and back on and bumping that up a little. If that doesn't work, could you give us some info on your setup (OS, browser version, connection type)?
-
how long has this been happening? plus any other info you can give us...
-
That little menu has always been set to forever.
I will try something other than forever when I end this post.
Otherwise, all that I can tell you is that I have a MacBook and am using OSX or whatever they call it. Then Safari on that.
This has been happening for about a month, which is why I have stopped coming around-because I thought it would fix itself.
But it hasnt so I decided to bring this to your attention.
The only other thing that I can think of doing is maybe give my password to a moderator to they can log in as me and try to post something and see if it happens for them.
Just happened to me while trying to post this message. I have to click Preview, and then post as quick as I can to post something.
Heres what it said:
The following error or errors occurred while posting this message:
Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message.

I've seen some flaky networks that kick you off during inactivity (minutes sometimes) and then immediately reconnect you when info is up or downloaded. Could that be part of your problem?
-
i hear you brother.........i used to have the same problem
solution? stop using chrome....i switched to opera(FF will do too i guess)

Since session duration is set to "forever", it should be something systemic on your end. My first guess would be that your browser is playing tricks on you, and that's one of the easiest parameters to check: try using a different browser (e.g. firefox) for a while and see how it goes. There may have been some "update" to Safari a month ago causing these issues. Perhaps Whoey could hack his way through the forum software and/or web server configuration to try and patch the situation, but that should take some time.

time is not something I have at the moment... especially since it seems to be a safari only bug and there are very few people who only use safari on here (that I know of)
-
I have just downloaded Firefox and this is a test post to see if Safari was the problem.
I can send PMs, now lets see if I can post on MT.O properly.
