Title: Why is there not
Post by: gafftapegreenia on September 28, 2009, 08:07:40 PM
Why is there no three layer SAK with just the file?

Or for that matter, why is there no 4 layer SAK with a file and saw?

There is an old Grand Prix model without the scissors is just what you are talking about here.

I bid on one at eBay a few weeks ago but Smartknives really wanted it and so it went fairly high.

Here is the eBay auction for it.

Neil, that's a great configuration.  You might want to try one with the combo tool instead of the small blade.

Gafftapegreenia, with the Metal Saw/File not being as popular as the Woodsaw you've unfortunately found one of the holes in the SAK lineup.

Great combo, Neil! Only possible addition here IMHO could be replacing the small blade with the chisel from a Spirit multitool.

I am not sure that Spirit parts can be fitted into SAKs at all, that is a question to the modder gods, or where does one find that chisel without buying a Spirit  :multi: for the sake of it, but wouldn't that be cool?

That configuration was made specifically to be kept in the glove compartment ready to deal with the large sticks my boys had a habit of wanting to bring home /play with  ::)

Chop to size, prune off small side branches and thorns and then smooth the ends.

As a straight swap in, no it wouldn't work.  But with a  will and enough time filing and grinding anything is possible :D

OK, I was cheating as well. :D

There was also the Trail Guide, one of the Marlboro SAKs.

As Neil said, anythings possible but it's not a challenge I'd be up for.  Both Neil's and my mod have the small chisel on the back though.  Not quite the same I admit, but it's better than nothing. :)

that is too bad. the swiss file is the only file that makes a decent metal saw.
