Can someone help please with the measurements in mm from centre pin to tip of tool for A, B, C:

Well, it's the awl issue on the Wave.
I have a spare Wave and could grind the flat blade to an awl but I'd also need to grind the thickness (to replace the thinner micro driver).
So, Reba on the way and just want to see the options with one of those.
If you could also measure the thickness in mm at the mounting point of ABC too if you have a Vernier gauge that would be even better. :)

No type of guage for any type of measuring like that :D So someone else will have to measure thickness for you :cheers: I think I have a mm ruler somewhere but not 100% positive about that now :ahhh :D

Ahh, not sure the old LM ruler will work here, I need 100'ths of mm accuracy. :D

Actually, I would say all the handle internals are somewhat built to different tolerance. Some can fit in a rebar awl with no issue. Having a very accurate measurement may not do much for you. Best to play around with them physically and see what fits and what not. In my little experience, the wave handles from around year 06 to 09 have a very slightly wider internal space. But again, as I said, they are all built differently.

Hey Max, here's what I just measured on my modded Rebar (should be same)... :salute:
Large flat sd...
thickness - 2.365mm
distance center pivot to tip - 41.15mm
Small flat sd...
thickness - 1.79mm
distance center pivot to tip - 49.4mm
Awl..
thickness - 2.385mm
distance center pivot to tip - 51.75mm

Very helpful as I had thought of grinding a spare Wae large flat I have but that loses 1cm to the Rebar awl and length is everything with an awl IMHO.
Sam, very fair point too - when I get it I will do just that. :)
I did have a play yesterday with trying the awl in my SOG [in the Wave] my favourite shape of the LM/SAK/SOG awls I have. Especially as these SOG parts are easily available - but it would not work out well with notch placement.
The small bit holder I'd replace is about 0.3mm thinner but losing the two thin washers either side would get me back in the game and make the difference only 0.1mm or so if installing the Rebar awl. Might turn out then not to need any thinning work.
Guessing losing the washers downside might just be clumping? I can live with that if so...

Hi guys - still looking for a Rebar - harder for us UK guys as I need to find one at the right price on eBay USA and find a US seller willing to ship and at a sensible price. Most want $25 to $30 or so to ship here but a basic small package from UK to USA without tracking etc would be more like $8.
In the meantime can anyone offer experience on the below?
Guessing losing the washers downside might just be clumping? I can live with that if so..

I did the mod yesterday, to my 2012 BO Wave. There were a few issues with mounting the Rebar awl into the Wave.
- The Rebar awl was too long, causing the tip of the awl to overlap the flat part of the Wave scissors when closed. So I actually had to grind down the length of the awl in order to keep the tools from overlapping. If I hadn't done this, the awl would have had to have been opened first, in order to open the scissors.
- The Wave wouldn't close completely after the awl was installed. So the spine of the awl had to be ground down, bit by bit, until the Wave would close fully.
- To get the Wave to close fully, the kick for the pliers had to also be filed down. I didn't have time to completely disassemble the Wave, so I just used a small conical grinding bit on my Dremel tool to remove the kick. The grinding bit was able to fit in the empty channel.
- I had no issues with tool thickness. The Rebar's awl dropped nicely into the slot vacated by the eyeglass bit driver. Lots of room fopr adjustment there.

My plan is slightly different - to move the flat head driver to the middle but loose a little length and I expect grind a little off the 'top' side of the flat driver too to allow the pliers to sit down. I rarely use the fixed flat head (maybe never!) and to lose the length is no issue (for me) and may improve it's sturdiness fractionally as a pry.
And mount the awl at the side (in place of the flat head) as I want maximum length and I hope this will lessen the alterations needed.

I don't know. The flat part on the scissors is pretty wide. It looks like it'll reach the awl, even when the awl is mounted where the flathead normally lives. You may have to grind off part of the flat on the scissors to get around shortening the awl. I think I'd prefer a shorter awl.

It might just reach but very minimal work would be needed to get it all to fit I think (ie a sub 1mm diagonal grind of the already radiused outer rear corner of the scissor tab). Have to wait until I get one to be sure. ;)
