Flea market find of the day
Rucksack(black sheath) with old style cross and patent on back of blade. It was so gunked up with blood and guts when you opened the saw, the can opener opened also
It was so dirty I didnt notice the damage almost 3 centimeters from the tip of the blade, like someone batoned it against a steel rod.
I cleaned it with boiling soapy water and a stiff brush until the tools opened freely. Then I dried and oilied the joints with mineral oil.
Now the tools have great snap and it is very sharp. I removed some of the damage on the blade with a diamond sharpener. My daughter started the lanyard and my wife finished it

now I have a 111mm Vic Im not afraid to use roughly. Ive never owned a rucksack

Rucksacks are cool! Just enough to be versatile.....
Nice score!

damage to blade still evident
-
Not too bad.....

Great find and terrific lanyard ladies :tu:
The "damage" is pretty insignificant with respect to how neglected it sounds to have been. I say great rescue with this knife and great job getting her a new life.

Thanks. I am contemplating convexing the edge as i know I will never use this knife to chop veggies

I say go for it. Great blade to re profile and try out a different geometry on.

How easy is it to remove and clean the scales on these sidelock 111ms? Im sure there is a river of brown gunk under there

I sadly dont own larger than a 93mm. I'm sure theres a post around here somewhere to answer that.

I read somewhere that there is a little spring that can jump out.....better ask over in the mod thread.

I've had good experiences with WD40 cleaning out that sort of thing. Patience is required!
