Title: Small batch hard anodizing service recommendations (alox)?
Post by: jloden on April 20, 2018, 04:45:02 PM
Hi all,

I'm looking for somewhere that can do prep & hard anodizing in  various colors for small batches of Victorinox alox scales. Does anyone have any recommendations? Ideally somewhere familiar with doing this type of work for modding and EDC gear, but any place that can do the work in small batches would be welcome.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Should that somewhere be anywhere near you? If so, where are you?

I'm in Hunterdon county NJ but working by mail is fine too. More important to me to get quality work and the ability to do smaller batches, so I can get a small variety of colors done here and there rather than all one color (or needing to put together 50lbs of alox scales at a time!).

Anybody? :D

Failing anodizing recommendations, does anyone know small powder coating / cerakote etc. shops that could do the work? Open to any suggestions for custom colored alox options.

I looked for cerakote work in the UK, and found mostly gun shops and some custom car shops were able to do the work.  I actually had one say they would cerakote the frame of a LM Juice, but I haven't got it done yet.  So my advice is to check some custom gun or car workshops.

Or consider doing it yourself. Anodizing has fairly low equipment requirements. http://www.Caswellplating.com has a good reputation for supplies and kits.

I know a guy that does cerakote and he don’t care what it is. He’s one of the best and his prices are fair. If you still need this shoot me a message and I’ll give you the info.
