Title: (specific) sideclip needed!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Mercury on May 24, 2010, 04:44:06 PM
Ok, this may sound weird, but I sold a Sideclip on ebay in november(had to look that up), with the initials "SM" hand etched into the handles on both sides.  I had used a dremel engraver so that is what it would look like.  It is a matte finish sideclip.  I very badly need this sideclip back, regardless of condition.  It was a gift and at the time I thought it was one I had bought to replace the gift, but I was mistaken.  The person who gave it to me just asked about it and wants to see it later this year when he visits for some reason.   ??? ???  If you bought that Sideclip, pm me and we can work out price if you are willing to sell.  I think the auction ended at around $25 US.  I can't afford it this paycheck, but I will be able to in the beginning of next month, I just wanted to toss this out there to begin the search.  Thanks guys!

Do you remember who you sold the sideclip to (ebay username)? Maybe worth sending them a message and seeing if they would trade for another sideclip, that you in turn find on here.  Can you replicate the engraving?

I will see if I can find the username, ebay is weird about sales that old, sometimes it is just a number, sometimes you get the full order details.  It's not so much the engraving, it's the sentimentality.  If I had known that it I was the original gift, I never would have sold it.  I really thought I had lost the original, but my wife reminded me that it was my original PST that I lost, not the side clip.  Really dumb thing to let happen you know?  Plus, I have a terrible poker face, if I buy a new one and he asks me anything about how I kept it in such good shape, I am screwed!

If he gets back in touch with you ask him if he would like a very good condition charge Ti for it.  I'll send out the charge to you to send him in exchange for your sideclip.  We can work out other details later.

I just saw that you posted this.  Thank you so much for the offer to help!  If need be, I will take you up on it.   I just heard back from him today, he said he thinks we can work something out so it is looking up!  I'm really hoping he will just accept the amount he paid for it, which turned out to be 29.99.  I am so relieved that he still has it and is willing to consider this.

I will direct him here, but after I get my sideclip back.  Once he talks to Davek he will never give it up!

I just sent him a paypal.  He said he will try to get it shipped by monday.  All in all, I think $40 was a fair price to pay to get this thing back.  Thanks to Zack for the offer to help me.  I really appreciate it.

And here it is!  The guy I sold it to was kind enough to let me buy it back(for a couple bucks more, whatever!) and he never even used it!  Notice the "SM" engraved on the handle.  I did that some 10 years ago.  I still can't believe I sold this thinking it was a different tool.  God smiled on me and let me have it back.
