The snowblower has this stupid safety button that you have to push in every time you let go of the lever. I used the Surge to rig up a way around it so it stays on. :D

When I use it I forget I am even holding a multitool...so much so I either keep it in my toolbox or I keep forgetting to remove it from my work belt.
It really is that good!
In which case it doesn’t see as much usage as I had hoped with it, but when I use it ...IT DOES get used.

I wasn’t kidding actually, it’s just that good.
Normally with a multitool it’s on ones belt or in ones pocket as a backup, but with the surge it is so well build that I can get most things done with just the Surge.
With the pliers for instance, they are so beefy that I can bend and twist with them all day without them breaking a sweat.
The knives are large enough that I can use them for everything I would use a fixed blade for, and they lock solidly too.
The screwdrivers have a good reach to them and in combination with the bit kit and my custom 3D bit driver and the heavy duty construction of the Surge, there’s really not any screws that it can’t break loose or tighten real hard.
It really is that good, and I keep forgetting to edc it because I tend to grab it as a primary tool and not use it as my backup belt carry.
Reading your challenge:
I really only use my Surge once a week or so, plus I keep forgetting to take pictures with it. I don’t know if I would be much fun in the challenge or if it’s okay to just post pictures once a week?

- 2 smashed up propellers = had replacements
- 1 broken camera mount bracket = temporary fixed with two zip ties, and cut using the Surge Scissors
- motor mount got bent = was able to loosen the mount and mount it correctly again, using the Surge and the bit kit
- recalibrated the remote
- recalibrated the compass
And I was back in the air and was able to finish the footage for the client.

For some reason it went into ATTI mode and just took off in one direction, instead of going into “Return-To-Home”
A Typical DJI GPS Error.
The exact same thing happened to a friend of mine with his DJI Phantom 3, so it seems to be a “bug” with them.

Poncho, it’s an old OG BO Surge I modded about 6 or 7 years a go or so. The pliers head was from the Super Tool 300. I hand filed the pliers head on the upper and lower surfaces being careful not to take to much off. In the closed position there is a little less than an 1/
8” gap. I also had to file down profile of the large flat driver.
Hope this is clear. It was a fun early mod I did.

Surge and kit helped removing an old carpet from the stairs. The new style pliers tip worked great at pulling out those staples.
Someone got really sure that the carpet stays put at the very bottom as you can see ::)

You can open most of the tools up and run it through a dish washing cycle if you have a dishwasher :salute: If not then run hot water un a sink with washing up liquid, agitate the water and let it soak. Repeat the process and scrub it with a toothbrush this go round :tu: after that, dry it and take some compressed air (canned or air compressor) and get all the water out then lube it back up :cheers:Cheers Poncho :cheers:

You can open most of the tools up and run it through a dish washing cycle if you have a dishwasher :salute: If not then run hot water un a sink with washing up liquid, agitate the water and let it soak. Repeat the process and scrub it with a toothbrush this go round :tu: after that, dry it and take some compressed air (canned or air compressor) and get all the water out then lube it back up :cheers:Afternoon awl. I'm not carrying the Surge today as I'm using the OHT for the Daredevil challenge ;)
You don't have to follow the first step of the soak but it does deep clean it a little more with the soak :tu:
However, I collected my new B/O Surge yesterday and it is REALLY stiff (a bit like my joints these days ::) )
I recently followed advice from Poncho about cleaning my OG S/S Surge and it worked a treat ( :cheers: Poncho)
Question is; does the B/O stuff hold up in a dishwasher or should I hand wash and use some dry lube :dunno:

A new SKY dish was installed at the house of Surge today (along with other boiler related issues being dealt with)
The engineer was "not allowed" to use my ladder so I climbed up and removed the old dish whilst he collected his one from the van. It then turned out that his ladder was broken and he had to use mine anyway ::)
Anyway, the Surge helped undo the bolts and then cut and strip the cable couplings. I couldn't take any "action" shots as I needed both hands to complete this incredibly dangerous task whilst approx 6' above the ground, sat on a flat surface, whilst drinking my coffee :ahhh
Still Mrs Surge is happy with the new "Sky Q" and the new router appears to be better as well (eveyone's a winner :tu:)

Yes sir. Mark the profile you want with a pencil, and slowly eat away at it with a bench grinder and safety glasses. It takes about three minutes. And remember the adage that its easier to take it off then to put it back on. I think that a slight radius on the end looks good.
You lose the needle nose functionality, but you can get onto bolts and other fasteners in tighter spaces without the needle nose so it it depends on what you are after. I did it mostly for the fun of it.

I have 3 or 4 Surges, which makes it easier to sacrifice one to the bench grinder. The smarter and more sane among us are less agreeable to mutilating their MTs.

Today I tightened up some parts on a mobile folding curtain and then worked on getting a water fountain back in business. I had counted on doing these things with the Surge, but not thought about the big nut holding the valve in place. Luckily I carry a Crunch during the week and it saved the day again. I put that in the Leatherman Saved the Day thread.

When I carry mine it is always in a sheath these days and I never notice the difference between it and a Charge or Wave really :tu:

The only mod I have done to my Surge is to add EOD cutters. I keep the originals in my larger toolkit in case heavier wire needs cut, but these will probably take care of 80-90% of the cutting I do (which is more often than not zip ties). It's also very handy to keep the saw with the tool, so it sits next to my plain edge blade.
