Title: FrankenGerber Club.
Post by: captain spaulding on December 09, 2015, 10:59:19 PM
If you have a FrankenGerber then post em up. I had a pile of parts and put this together today. I tried to get the Mr. Pinchy blade to work, but something wasn't right. I was almost positive that it would work better than it did. This is not my ideal tool selection, but I can change it later if I get the tools I want for it. She will be a beater.  :tu:

Great idea for a club  :like:   ... although I am slightly late to the party  :D

Lost its SE blade for a sog saw.

Made a mini awl out of the small flat head screw'er (is that a viable word?)

... and later took the needle nose of it to make it more pocketable (alot of the edges was also rounded off but thats boring pictures).

An older pic, but I still use it regularly. lately I've been considering a switch back to a needle nose, but I can't bear to lose my BN pliers either... So I think I'm going to have to make another!

I am guessing that at least 4 gerbers were "franked" into that mp600  :like:
A Diesel (saw), pro scout or MP400 (scissors), a regular stainless BN mp600 (pliers) and a regular black mp600(frame).

It's actually up to 5 now, as that picture is a little outdated. I have since replaced the carbide cutter BN pliers with non-replaceable cutter BN pliers

I'm digging the awl on yours Troels. It started out as a small flathead?

Yes the mini awl is quite easily made from the small flathead (with a file and a wise).

I'm thinking about turning the plain blade into an awl since the MP600 is lacking in the pokie dept.

I had a spare blade that I wanted to awl-mod ... but instead i tried to make the blade into a slip joint (for legal carry) by filling on the locking area. Did not work, the blade its totally flying around  :bnghd: :bnghd: .... had to try :D  ... its very precise work tampering with sliding locks

Kind of a Frankengerber mod... Replaced the lanyard ring on the Multi-Lock Scout with the  wood saw from the Diesel... For the time being, the Diesel will hold the extra lanyard ring from the Multi-Lock Scout. Until such time I can figure what other tool to put in it...
Maybe a wood saw from another MT...

Mine!

Most donor parts are from a Suspension.

Took a bit of time to grind and align the pliers tip and some reshaping.

One of my favorite tool. The pliers tip was grounded to a very pointed needle nose. It can handle some special task usually a normal "needle nose" can't.
Though pointed, pliers tip doesn't protrude from the frame.

I don't think it qualifies as "franken..." or "modded" - but I just now took the best (ie - non broken) parts from an MP600 Needlenose and an MP600 Pro Scout to make a workable tool.

I'm reasonably pleased, as I've ended up with old fashioned NOT carbide cutters, and a selection of blades, scissors and tools, none of which are plain edged, and don't have that mostly questionable use of real estate - the lanyard loop.

I don't mind a great deal about extra blades, but I guess there is a bit of satisfaction in not having an extra PE blade that I am unlikely to use....

the only downside is that the Serrated blade has the nail notch on the wrong side now...

My FrankenGerber...

I took an old MP600 BO, sanded/polished/notched the side of the frame, recontoured the plier head, added a pocket clip, and threw in tools from the MP600 BO, eFect, Suspension, and Suspension NXT using hardware from an MP700 Urban Legend.  I had one more spot left, so I drilled out the Simonds file from a Version 5 Multi-Plier and reshaped the pivot a bit.

Thread Necro  :ahhh

Another MP600 mod. Replaced the needle nose pliers, light bolts, added saw holder from the Pro Scout and the wood saw from a SOG tool. Also tried to add a pocket clip from the Paraframe, but I did not like the result. More brainstorming needed i guess
