Title: My first exposed rivet SAK.
Post by: Aloha on February 19, 2018, 04:16:43 PM
I picked up this 84mm buffalo horn SAK.  There are a couple of issues but a neat SAK for me.  The small slip point blade has lost its tip.  The scales have dings and dents.  The main blade has a wear and a lot of scratches.  The scales are solid but you can see the rivets are not all exposed.  I like the single spring on the scissors and the stripper on the bottle opener.  Would someone please give me a name and date of this neat SAK please.  I was thinking Climber Small?  I thought Vice President but there are not T&T.

Not sure I'll carry it mostly because the scales would seem to be damaged a whole lot more easily than celidor.

I think it's a Tourist. It was supposed to have the T&T, though...

Sorry, scissors... Climber Small. Still missing T&T, though. You're right, it should be a Vice-President, according to Wiki.

I'd call it a Climber Small. Date - I don't see a +PAT so I'd say circa 1972. Of course, it could just be a stamping error (+PAT wasn't stamped deep and got polished off) which would put it in the 65-72 era.

Thanks JB.  It very could have gotten "wore" off.  I was leaning to pre 73 so 72 makes a lot of sense.  Climber Small I like it again thank you  :like:

Very nice, Aloha!

I've brought back many things made of Bull Horn from south America, but never seen a Swiss Army Knife like that.

Thanks guys.  Its my first exposed rivet and first buffalo horn anything.  I've treated the scales to some food grade mineral oil and wow.  Those scales soaked it right up.  I'll take care of the small blades tip and give the main blade a decent polish.  I doubt this will be carried but its really a neat SAK.

Thanks.  It soaked up a second round of mineral oil.  For now it'll have to wait for restoration.
