I already have the badge so I won't officially join but will probably post in the thread since most of my tools and knives are discontinued anyway.
Glad to have you with us, SirVic :tu: Anyone else feel up to carrying discontinued tools for a month :pok: :D
I'm with Nix. I've been wanting to do this for a long time but I have already committed to the Musicman Center Drive Challenge.
There is still plenty of time to order a CD, Poncho. Just open your wallet and let the moths fly out. :pok: >:DI'm with Nix. I've been wanting to do this for a long time but I have already committed to the Musicman Center Drive Challenge.
Ah yes, I forgot that the CD challenge was the same month  At least you guys have a good excuse :hatsoff:

Finally kinda sorta settled into my new place so I would also like to attempt this challenge.
Do I need to stick with one knife or just pick one of the discontinued lines?
Thanks!

I'm going to be watching and cheering y'all along. Looks to be a good challenge with some awesome tools and selections.
Being as today is Day one and I happen to have my PST with me, ok for me to join in??

I like that blackout kit on a white car. Looks good. And good job zrxoa1 :like:
Day 2:
Using the can opener/small flat blade to let air out of tires. At work doing PDS (Pre Delivery Service) on the new cars.
We remove all the stickers and wrap and clean the tires of sticker residue. My job is passenger tires for now. Let the air out and set to 35 pounds.

I work at a dealership and they call the pds work a pdi (pre delivery inspection).. Interesting variation and name on the same thing :tu:
Day 4:
Jetsetter 8GB with scissors, nail file and package opener.
Today was pretty chill at work so not much use for it.
Great combo Shuya, and I hope you get to feeling better !
Just curious, do you use that USB regularly?
Not on a regular basis. It is password protected and contains some important documents for emergencies but all of those documents are also on my cell phone it's more of a back up to a back up.
I mainly use it as it has the scissors and nail file but doesn't have a true blade so it passes the sniff test if/when security actually checks my stuff.
My other option before finding one was to snap off the blade of a Classic but I lucked out on this on at a flea market and found it in the original box.

Great use SirVic :like:
Day 5:
Half day of meetings and admin work then minor house chores.
Carried the LM P4 with a Boker D2 Stub from County Comm and a J. Woytaz Bandicoot Dog Tag.
More great pics and a great day 5 everyone :tu: :like:
Yeah, it took me several years of watching evil bay like a hawk to find one in my price range. Prior that that I carried a Compact for years. Made the mistake recently of swapping the Compact's scales to Copper for looks and it ended up being too heavy so it got relegated to my collection chest.
Debating on buying another to try out the SB+ titanium scales.
-Wes
Day 7:
Some repair work around the house with my ‘96 PST...

Nice action shots :D :like:
The discontinued multi-tools always look so pretty! :ahhh
Looking at the pics it just looks like a dull stainless, in person you can tell it use to be BO :D
You had a BO and you put it in a vinegar bath on purpose? Shame on you :ahhh
The next time you plan to do something like that come talk to us first. We all love you  :D
In my defense it was very dirty and in a little bit rough shape ;) I had already put it in a WD40 bath for a couple days before this as well  it is clean now  I would have never done this to a tool that was in any kind of decent shape though :salute: :D
Great use, SirVic :like:
Found it...

Would some Admin be so kind and move it? Somehow I wasnt awake anymore when posting this. Maybe I am still on the road...
Took a bit of doing but I got your post in here, Shuya :salute: :tu:
That is an excellent use and the definition of why we carry the stuff we do :salute: :like:
Day 10 of 30
I have with me today a 1997 BO PST with CC. This certain one has an odd finish BO, one handle is more matte and matches other LM from the period but then the other handle is shiny BO  An odd one for sure and a nice addition to a collection :tu:

Kinda yucky chili (for chili dogs) and I had already cleaned my SI before the pic. LOL

Still a great use, since your regular can opener was out of commission :tu:
:nanadance: :nanadance:
Day 10:
Not much going on here. Our can opener broke so opened a can of chili with my SI.
I’m not very good at it!!Show content(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190311/8d5a9a7afc403cabc4c2dfc96b492365.jpg)
That is an awesome carry, zrxoa :like:
Thanks!! The SI is always in my pocket or lunchbox when at work. For this challenge, at least thru next week, the PST will be at work with me. I need the needle nose pliers for the job I’m currently doing. We pick tonight for next month’s job rotation. I’d like to stay where I’m at, but no guarantees!
If I end up on a different job, I won’t need the piers, but the SI will be in my pocket. Sometimes I do carry my PX instead.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I hope that you get to stay where you are at with your job, zrxoa :tu: The PST and SI combo is a very balanced combo to me and really only lacks scissors :tu: which the PX would make up for :like:
Great carry, Shuya :like: I always loved those winter scales that Wenger had :tu:Thanks.
Day 15:
Tomo for work carry and Voyageur for movie night.
Day 16 of 30
I have with me today a new to me ST200 :woohoo: I have been searching for one of these at a good price for a few years now  Finally got one and it arrived in the mail yesterday :like:

Day 16 continued:
Needed to take down a satellite dish but the poor wrench on the Wenger just wasn’t up to the task, so out came the PST!

So guys, we are over and a half weeks into this now  how are the discontinued tools handling your tasks  are they doing as good as the newer, improved versions or are they dated and you can tell that they need updating  :tu: I have used mine a bit here and there and have always found that some of the older designs are just as good now as they were when they were in production :like: I am sure there are problems with some of them but on the flip side, some of the ones that aren't discontinued have problems that need updating as well ;) :D Love to hear everyone's thought :salute:
Poncho, one thing came into my mind last night about the old tools is the way better space usage, not only regarding the number of tools but the size for example of the mainblade.
compare a Blast blade to a Rebar one. not only is it larger but thicker and less flexible (feels better).
Bad example in that point are the swisstools where the blades are so short compared to the handle lenght.
Thats why I still love the Pulse and Blast, awesome tool size for the bulk.
In the newer Juice they shortened the blade even more...
Day 20:
Got my Mini out today...

I just got this pic in case I forget another one :ahhh will try and get a better one later :salute: I have with me a LM Juice Pro :dd: The biggest Juice ever made :like: It is the only Juice that can be the big brother to the Xe6 8) I think it adds a foil cutter and something else  at his was a Costco only model just like the Charge Slv :tu: These are hard to find these days but not impossible ;) and even when I bought this one many moons ago they weren't cheap :ahhh but cheaper than today :D
Nice tool poncho! Do you have a picture for comparison? With the regular juice and a Wave maybe?
they mentioned swiss army knifes :woohoo: :ahhh

That is one messed up blade, zrxoa1 :ahhh
How big are the Craters? Similar to an Endura? Larger? I like folding knives around the Delica in length/heft because I have fairly small hands but would also love to have a back up screw driver like many of the Crater models contain.
The new LM Free T series me has hoping they will be a nice alternate to our SAKs.
-Wes.
Day 22.
Final day of the conference, last Berlin pic from my Hotel room.
Wenger S18 again. Will be heading via train home in the afternoon.
Have a good day fellow tool-addicts. :multi:

Day 22 of 30
I have with me today my first non LM tool in the challenge :o :D It is a Paladin Tools Power Play PT-510 by SOG (try saying that 5 times fast :D ) it is from a set of 3 tools that SOG did for this company and I had intentions of getting all 3 at the time I purchased this one but sadly it was not meant to be  :D The one I have is the smallest in the series and has a tool compliment that is geared toward electrical work  Sure is a quarky tool to use otherwise ;)
Side view shows that they limited the ability for adding tools in and also tapered the plier head :salute:
But it came with a very nice old school brown leather sheath :dd:
Great pic but I would also like a pic of the Xti :dd: :DMaybe Ill take it on tomorrows tour.

Day 23:What is that blue round thing?
My new (to me) Wenger Air Traveler was delivered yesterday as another work safe carry option.
As I'm off today I paired it with my LM Squirt P4.
-Wes.
What is that blue round thing?
[It's not failure if you learn something from it]
Wenger had some great knives :salute: wished they still made all the knives they use to :-\
I agree. I just got into them lately, and I like some of them better than the Victorinox ones.
Nice Supertool you carried today! Reminds me of the PST which makes it extremely attractive to me :D
You definitely need an OG Supertool if you like the PST ;) It is a PST on steroids :like: It has an old school appeal that is just timeless to me :tu:
Just search for Leatherman Supertool :tu:
It's a Universal Glow Marker Dot (glow in the dark fob) from County Comm, they had a variety color pack awhile ago. I have them on most of my key chains/knives so I don't lose them.Ok, thanks!
-Wes
Nice tools folks! :hatsoff: :like:
Day 25:

Home stretch now :woohoo: I have a Wenger Evogrip 18 with me today :tu: Love this knife and don't carry it as much as I should :dunno: Has a great tool compliment and I love the 85mm sized Wengers :like:
Day 26.
Mr. BYSAK (1986 SI) helping me survive the day in the office so far.
Really love that layout, the simplicity of the BSA/Soldier type.
Ouch!!! Your BY is the year I graduated from high school!!! Your not 6’2” around 250 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes, are you??!!
