Announced on CES 2012: http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/07/victorinox-to-launch-1tb-usb-esata-ii-flash-drive-with-built-i/ (http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/07/victorinox-to-launch-1tb-usb-esata-ii-flash-drive-with-built-i/)
Two versions:
- usb + classic tools
- usb standalone
I've seen somewhere a 2000$ expected price tag for this!
-
Those are cool, but since they never managed to release the SSD drives they announced last year I'm not sure we can count on seeing these in 2012. Also on these types of items Victorinox is usually priced out of the market so we'll just have to wait and see. Other than that.... I want one.
-
wow i so wish i was rich :( i want that!!!
-
Holy crap, 1 TB... :ahhh
Both my computers and phone combined isn't even that much.
-
I want one bad, but I can only imagine how much they will cost.
-
...that would be alot of bytes from pics, document, music...u name it to loose if its misplaced, corrupted..
When my 500gb hdd failed, i lost memorable photoshots that is irrecoverable :P
Otherwise its so a cool factor flipping the classic alox, and usb popped out :o

most interesting piece of the article IMHO ...
Both knives have swap-out "flight-friendly" bodies with no knives, so you can take your precious thumb drive in your hand luggage.

another article here...

The Victoronix SSD is available in capacities of 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 1TB, with the company claiming that it offers “unprecedented data storage capacity with security measures fit for protecting the most confidential of personal and professional documents.”
Each SSD comes equipped with two interchangeable knife bodies which are easily swapped out. One is flight friendly, while the other includes traditional Swiss army knife features such as a blade, scissors, nailfile and screwdriver.
Victorinox also announced the Slim 3.0 USB drive-Swiss army knife hybrid, which is available in capacities ranging from 16GB to 128GB, but no release date or price details were disclosed.

1TB? o.o
I think the reason why I'm so happy about it, though, is that it looks as if it's on the 74mm frame; that line has been needing some additional attention, the recent Executives aside. :tu:
Now if only they'd bring back 84mm scissors. :pok:

I have one of their flashdrive knives and I have to say it is quite sweet. BUT if this cost 2000$ I think I'll passssss. :ahhh:
-
$3000.00 :o

C'mon... we're talking here about top of the notch tech as of today. This is more a tech announce than actually a SAK novelty. If we take into consideration that only a few months ago it was announced the first 1TB SSD drive on a 2.5" form factor, and that at 1300USD, this ought to be a step higher. c.f. http://www.geek.com/articles/chips/ocz-releases-first-2-5-inch-1tb-ssd-20111021/ (http://www.geek.com/articles/chips/ocz-releases-first-2-5-inch-1tb-ssd-20111021/)
It's really impressive they're already packing this amount of storage on a usb key like device!!
Kudos to the Victorinox electronics OEM! Anyone knows who they are?
-
Personally, I wish they'd make a drive that took microSD cards, so that you could upgrade the drive every couple years and keep it useful. Just ask anyone who shelled out $100+ for a state-of-the-art 128mb knife...

Someone has found a way to charge even more money for memory than Apple.
