This is gonna be a great thread!!
The soap thing is true, or watching transmission fluid hit wet ground.
Signing into my bank account and seeing I've been paid.
Seeing my package on the doorstep.
There was a specific perfume one of my ex's used and I have only ever smelled it one other time in the last 4 years.
That thread is wonderful! Just like the start of the movie "Amelie":tu: one of my favorite movies of all time. For whatever reason, I really love french films. Hugo is another great one.
Small things that make me feel great are -
Birdsong, especially in spring.
Sturdy logs of hardwood, their weathered, but still strong surface
handling an old tool, like a plane or a saw, the smell of carbon steel
The smell of freshly cut pine or larch, the smell of the sea
When the milk mixes in the brilliant Barry's tea my wife makes, and it keeps on turning, creating small vortices...
Tomcat
The smell of coffe brewing, bacon frying up and fresh baked bread come to mind. Now i'm want to eat something.
The smell of a summer rain shower.
I love to watch thunder storms roll in.
Coyotes howling in the distance.
Frogs arguing around the pond
Birds singing early in the morning
:)
Peeling an apple with a sharp knife and getting the peel to come off in one continuous coil without it breaking.

This just reminded me. I love sharing a apple with my dog. Basically every day I will grab a apple. Sit down. She comes running over and lays down. I grab a knife and we share a apple. Its her favorite treat and they are great for dogs. Shes getting old so I cherish ever apple we share. :tu:
Smelling loved ones hairI hope you have no dog
Getting up early and having a quiet cup of coffee before the kids wake up.
Rain on a tent flysheet.
The smell of fresh Golden Virginia rolling tobacco.
Skimming stones into rivers.
When my son shouts upstairs for his mum, but calls her by her name instead of saying mummy.
Riding my bike on super smooth tarmac.
Licking envelopes.
Having written these down they seem neither small or pointless
I do have a dog and she (in her own 'outdoor' way) smells lovely!Smelling loved ones hairI hope you have no dog
- making silly jokes :P
- walking in the dark forest

As a noise I can agree with you, but that's tempered by the knowledge that you're camping and at some point you're going to have to get up and stand around in the rain. :D
The click of shifting gears on my bike.If you have a chance try a Pinion P.18 gearbox... smoother than an androids bottom :D
The sound of a strong liner lock engaging.
Playing with my knives, opening and closing them with one hand and then the other.
Throwing a wooden top and picking it up in my hand, still spinning.
(not my video, but it gives you an idea of what I'm talking about)

Kindness, while not simple nor pointless its wonderful.I'm with you on the stranger, it's so nice to just be walking along and someone just comes by and you get the nod, smile, or even hi or hello! Normally it's the older folk, they'll hold the door, like I do, now if they have a veterans hat I'll shake there hand!
Exchanging smile with stranger.
Good customer service.
The way your dog can look at you as if you were the Almighty himself ...
(I miss my dear friend ...).
Our cats a cryer, if we leave he'll sit at the door then cry after we lock the door, then when back, he'll run to the door then start making noise knowing we're behind the door. Other times I'll kick the kids off to school then try to go back to bed, he'll walk around and start crying out as if he doesn't have any food or water, it's got to be perfectly topped off, God forbid if it's down a 1/2" that or like hey, you can't sleep cause I'm awake! The way your dog can look at you as if you were the Almighty himself ...

My friend's dogs do that to me, and one of them sometimes starts crying when I leave.
My Brother's dog, an American Bulldog, looks at me as if I came from the other place. He wimpers, cowers, and "guards" my niece with a desperate look as if I'm going to eat the pair of them.
Aloha, you're definitely a good one!
Thumbs up and all the best for you and your family!
A nice broken in flannel shirt. Comfortable boots.

I'll add to this wonderful topic. Good clothes in bad weather. I.e. being able to tell a storm to "come at me, give me your best, I'll still be warm, dry and cosy."
Laughing so hard your cheeks hurt and your eyes are full of tears.I'm with you on cheeks and tears, just not the after effect, they get soar.. And the chocolate all bundled with the cold crisp air, I used to have a swing!
Holding and dinking a hot cup of chocolate while sitting out in a cold day, wrapped up in a warm blanket with the cold wind in your face.
Floating in the ocean on a hot day, rocked by small waves.
Sitting in a rocking chair, eyes closed, outside in an autumn day, enjoying the sounds and smells of the woods.
Picking the right line at the market. You know the one that moves faster than all the others :D

That I NEVER could do :ahhh Whenever I pick the "shortest" line, omg, there's always someone who can't find change, someone who took the wrong product, someone who wasn't sure if they wanna buy it, someone who turned out not to have the needed amount of money and had to return a product or two, someone who brought COUPONS ( :ahhh), someone who had marked the wrong product orrrrrrrrr just SOMEONE who. :ahhh lol
Oh, I get th coupon stuff. If I had coupons, I'd use them too, lol. But it's slow and annoying as hell :D

the look on my moms face when I describe something that she thinks I was too young to have remembered. (examples, climbing up the cabinets and drinking a whole bottle of wishishere sauce, or drinking my whole bottle of amoxicillin from the refrigerator) I was in diapers for latter, and my mom gets even more confused when I describe the house that this happened in in a fair amount of detail, even though we moved from there when I was 3.
it blows her mind

Loool, I have that early memories, too. Nobody believes me, though.
I'm gonna repeat myself, but again: the snow, the sun in the snow, the sparrows in the sun & the snow :D
Oh, is that youuu :dd: :dd: :dd: :dd: :dd: :dd:
I hope you don't think that's me :ahhh :ahhh
I really love the smell of fresh cut pine. Pretty much any wood for that matter.

Yes, I love snow :D That's maybe because I don't haaave to get up early in the morning, clean the snow from the car, clean the ... road in front of the car with a shovel and drive in blizzards to get to work, but.... life's unfair to some, heh. lol
