Lurking for a while now using the Tapatalk app. Main interest is military pocket knives and SAKs. Madly reading the massive back catalogue of posts on the Swiss Knights trying to learn and catch up.
Seems to be a really friendly site.
Thanks for taking me on.

Welcome to the MT/SAK madhouse, Fred! Sorry about your recent house fire! Glad nobody got hurt.
If you need a plier based MT or something to use while you get the house together and what not, just let me know and I'll send you something decent. :tu:

Wow, I’ve only been a member for one day and I’m getting offers like this! Just confirms my thoughts about this forums members.
Thanks for your kind offer gerleatherberman, as you saw in my other post, I rescued a couple of SAKs from the fire and they are being put back to use and should just about cover me. Only thing I miss knifewise is an old 1960s soldier SAK that hasn’t turned up in the ashes yet.

That would be the SAK I'd want to find first. 1960 Soldier. :ahhh
I hope you find it in due time, Fred!
This place is full of great members indeed. Several of whom have shown great generosity towards myself and others. So, we look out for each other when we can. Even new members. :).
The house fire, that you are dealing with, is among one one of the nightmares of mine. :ahhh
I have a friend who has dealt with a house fire. It can be an emotionally and financially taxing/devastating endeavor to sort out.. :ahhh
I didn't know if your SAKs were salvageable, but I don't mind helping out with sending a SAK across the pond. Just let me know.

That’s very generous GLBM :tu: :like:

The fire happened 8 weeks ago and when the restoration company went in they boxed up anything which could be restored. Everything else was swept into a very large skip. I have 15 pages listing the saved items and nothing resembling the soldier is on it.
I fear it’s lost like many things that I don’t realise until I need it and suddenly get that sinking feeling. I have (had) a few military pocket knives and the 1960s soldier was particularly nice as it complemented my Swiss 1889 Schmidt-Rubin.
Here’s a pic of the 1889 with my new (bought only 2 days ago) Pioneer X.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180816/89ead2325642044ca5c7d4e9916d713f.jpg)
Here’s a link to the 2 fire damaged SAKs that I’m trying to recover.
