Title: Old Wenger Help.

Nothing special about the tool selection, - Blade, nail-file, openers, awl, corkscrew

The scale badge has long since worn away, but what is interesting is that the vague imprint left behind is a Hexagon, rather than a square.

I'm wondering if this is a Wenger Economy model?
Did/does Wenger do an economy range?

The other reason I ask is because the back tools (awl, corkscrew) are loose, and the liners are pretty nasty and corroded.

It could have just had a hard life, but maybe it's a bit of a budget one?

The blade has "Wenger Delemont Switzerland Stainless" & the Crossbow.
Opposite side has Wenger & "W" Logo.

None of the tools, or the blade look worn at all, but the scales are beat up and cracked. So it has been around a while, if not really used.

It has a notch in the back of the Cap Lifter/Screwdriver, if that helps at all.

I notice it doesn't have tweezers or toothpick? Is that normal?

I have several that have logo shapes like that. Notice too that the area where the logo used to be is on the back side of the knife where typically a company logo would be placed.

If I could loosen up the corrosion, maybe the springs would work.

I don't deal with a lot of ally, so I have no magic solution for it.

Post by: Chako on August 31, 2009, 05:24:51 AM: I find an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner does a nice job of cleaning the hard to get gunk in most things that are waterproof and small enough to fit.

Turns out the liners have corroded away around the pin that goes through the backspring tools.

This one is a goner folks.

Can you do that?

They'd have to replace all three ally liners.

And given that it is approx a $30 knife, can I be arsed?

People outside the US do not take care of their tools. :P

The Commander is a very common model. You will likely be able to find a good used one for just a few dollars.

There are usually a lot of them on eBay and FelineVet has them for $6.

No idea, but I think it's a pi$$ take as the sodding things are made over here and we pay more for them.

Pssht, it's not about the tool, it's about the scavenger hunt at yard sales!

So far I've bought maybe 3 decent ones (all Vic, by the way) during my life, and probably 15 suss ones of various other brands (I tend to shy away from the obviously crummy ones, and pick older ones that might have been decent in their day)
