Anyone else ever experienced a SwissTool with poor tool return snap? I've got a SwissTool and a SwissTool X, and the X has a few tools with very poor return snap. If some of the tools are eased down then they will barely snap in, and sometimes they won't snap at all. They snap open and lock well, but they just don't snap back in place the same. My regular SwissTool has better overall return snap all around. Has anyone else had this problem, or is it even a problem? The tool is virtually new and well cleaned and oiled.

Remaining dirt or not thoroughly oiled is what causes this with my SAKs.
How did you oil it?
With actual oil? Grease?

As long as the tool locks solidly in place I do not see this as a problem. If I remember correctly none of my Swisstools have much return snap. I will check when I get home.

I use synthetic lubricating oil. It's designed for firearms, and it has worked well with all of my SAK.

I have several Swisstools but since I'm on vacation right now I only have acces to one of them and I've just checked that one and it also has a very soft snap (almost no snap) on most tools. Some of the tools have a stonger (read: a bit stonger) snap (the file and saw for example), but the small tools all have a very soft snap, and only right before they are fully closed.
I had not noticed this since it's not important to me, but the tools on my Swisschamp all have a much stronger snap than the ones on my Swisstool (at least the one I brought with me on vacation, I'll check the others when I get home).

Just checked 2 Swisstools and neither have what I'd call SNAP.

I have been carring the Swisstool for as long as it has been on the market and this is perfectly normal just differant. A good scrub with a tooth brush and penitrating oil or Hoppies #9 (you haven't been shooting untill the smell of Hoppies #9 permiates the room) and a light oiling with mineral oil at the pivot points will keep your Swisstool working for generations. :cheers:
