Title: Tread Owners Club
Post by: Outback in Idaho on July 02, 2015, 04:44:08 AM
Guess I'm the first?

Won this from Leatherman's Father's Day contest. Official release to be determined.

:viking: Had to battle UPS and faulty addresses, so went down to the local UPS hub and tracked it down and brought it home.  Tread does fit a 9 inch wrist via a standard band. Since I have a 9.5 inch wrist it was a tad snug (see photo). Added a slimmer link and there's working room now. :D

You might not be the first but it's still very cool that you won it.  :tu:

I would love to see a thorough review of these, just to see what people here think of its capability.

I would love to see a thorough review of these, just to see what people here think of its capability.

I use all my tools at one point or another, so will give a run-down at some point. The watch version would be very interesting and probably would have less tools than the non-watch versions. Am guessing at some point Leatherman may sell the watches as accessories. Will be interesting to see what develops as far as accessory links. Am guessing star bits will be available some day?

One think I'd like to see is a 1/4 inch link that would have a security bit for the Charge/Wave and other tools if different sizes. Something like this, however, might have to be machined by someone from MTO or something.  >:D

Another recommendation would be for Leatherman to add a file like surface on the wrist-backing clasp to facilitate a match striker / nail file. As for the closer, not sure why Leatherman's developers did not put a spring ball on both sides for longevity. All the 1/4 inch sockets I've seen could accept a dual spring ball grasper.

So far I haven't pinched myself with it, nor pulled any arm hairs out.

Would like to find an 'on the spot' laser engraver to put in 'No Worries' on the solid glass breaker link.

Oh, and it's warm to wear in the summer. Would probably me more comfortable to wear in cooler climates.

I like that they are coming out with this but it's definitely not something I'd personally wear around.  That's not to say it isn't a cleaver idea and many may like it and find it useful.  I think where they are off on this one is the price, listed at $165 USD.   And that is without the watch.  You have to be kidding me.

Love mine, wear it just about every day.  It's pulled a few hairs here and there, but that's inevitable.  My only real gripe so far has been that when you're even a little sweaty, it definitely can get a little uncomfortable, but that's just my own tactile-sensations.  I really love it overall.  It gets tons of comments.  I'd really like to see them put out a link with spoke wrenches for cyclists.

Well.. technically there is a watch on the standard Tread. Just need a lil bit on ingenuity.. like a stick or something. Point your hand towards North, and walla!

I'm going to be getting a new G-Shock soon, and modifying my Tread to fit the face to it.  It's been about 8 years since my last one (only watch I ever buy, and I've owned 5 in my life), so I'm getting a nice one this time...

Was looking at one of them Casio solar titanium triple sensor watches, though not sure if the watch case is made of titanium or the usual resin materials. Will have to wait for when my income improves.

Tread comes undone far too easily when working around objects. Even caught a cantaloupe in the field today that unlatched the Tread - though the boss threw that melon in hard. Earlier had my hands full and reached down to turn off a power strip - out flopped the Tread.

There should be dual ball-springs on each side, or something to make up for the slack in the latching mechanism. Sure glad I didn't buy this thing. It's cute, I like wearing it. Yet that latch is too loose. It's more flimsy than the Crunch's mechanism is. Not sure why no one else has brought it up.

Interesting. Well, I suppose that makes it likely we'll see it here in the States ~1-2 weeks earlier than that, perhaps. I've wondered if the delay is due to them making any sort of last minute changes? For example, I know the cutting hook/SIM pick tools are significantly changed from the prototype, and according to early reviews, there are a few other parts that could use some improvement, such as the hollow pin in the buckle and the looseness of the clasp/socket driver. One can only hope, I suppose...

Well, I have it for awhile now. Got lucky on craigslist and bought one for CAD 150.
Very slightly used but no box whatsoever.

Initial thoughts, I like it as a bracelet. The tools in it is a Plus, but it didn't replace the wave on my pocket. Never really used the TREAD on anything serious yet, except for the box cutter. I consider it as a accessory with benefits (more like in a situation when you don't have your wave with you.) Bottom line, at SRP, i will not buy it, but at a bargain price, why not.

I asked leatherman for a box and they sent me one for FREE. Talk about awesome customer service right there.

And, it was on TV just last sunday at the walking dead preview of the next half of season 6. with one of Negan's posse.

I have actually used it as a bottle opener quite a bit. Used it on short screws, and definitely not as awkward as I initially thought. I would wear it to work more, but it sets off the metal detector and was a pain in the arse. Anyone have any problems with it on airplanes?

Seems like a good idea :tu:. I have small wrist, so initially, i took off 2 1/2 of the links, but decided
to put back the 1/2 link cause i figured that's gonna be more useful in time. Got used to it hanging
a little loose on the wrist.

I'm planning to buy additional links (steel and some more black) to build another one. Leatherman told me to watch out for it this month. They're on pre-order now here in my area.

I wasn't interested until I saw this Core. I'm a hard core Core user and the black Tread would pair my all black nicely. But rubber is soft and it doesn't get icy cold in the winter.
Wait! This is a Leatherman! What about rust from sweating, bathing and swimming? It will rust eventually, won't it?

Besides the 2 Tread pieces I already removed to fit my wrist, I had to remove 2 more to fit the watch case. As I bought the tread more as "Jewelry" then for it's tool features, I can live with that.
The holes in the Tread are bigger the the Suunto screws. However, the Tread strap is a very precise fit to the Suunto case screw holes, and with the screws in place, the Tread has no space to move over the screws.
It`s not perfect, butI'm quite happy with the result. Now I just want that Traverse even more. You've heard that Sinterklaas? I have been a good boy!

Anyone have a picture showing exactly why the LM bits wont fit inside the links?  IDK why LM would have machined them to look like they would fit and not added that as a feature.  If I could store a couple extra bits inside the links I would have already ordered one to pair with my watch.

I'm in this fashionable butt kicking club. With a twist that makes it MY man jewelry.
Its birthday was inscribed on it by a really nice gentleman today. He also signed it along with my PST.

They fit but there is nothing to hold them in place for carry. They slide right out the other side.
The extension fits and seems to be lightly gripped when you hold the links together; this seems to be the designed use.

I just noticed that the little scribe bit is missing from the link where it's supposed to be. There's an empty hole there now. I'm not sure how it would've fallen out. So I guess I'll try to make this a warranty issue. I have no experience with Leatherman warranty service. Will they send me a new link first or make me send them the damaged link first? Or will they make me send them the whole tool? Do I have to pay for shipping?

In case no one knew, there are Tread Links (http://treadlinks.com/) for attaching other watched to the Leatherman Tread. Looks like a metal watch is needed, though I did send them a suggestion to have a metal bridge connect the links together for those without a metal cased watch.

O______O  <-- Something like this, then a plastic cases watch could attach. Could be just a thin round base with the center cut out for less weight/sweat. They never replied to the idea.

Guess one could try the Tread Links with a plastic cased watch but I'd think the watch coupling would be the first to break!  :ahhh

Edit: Was surprised no one from MTO thought of the idea first and could of offered MTO inscribed links to show off.  :D

On a watch you are down to around 4-5 links plus the clasp link.
Choose carefully.

I could probably do it.

Link 1 - small flat drivers
Link 2 - #1/2 Philips, flat and 1/4 hex bolt
Link 9 - 6mm + 5mm Allen and 10mm hex bolt
Link 10 - 4mm + 3mm Allen and 8mm hex bolt
Please make a Torx 6 and 8 with a 8mm hex bolt.

Clasp link I will leave the Link 4.

But doesn't that mean every time you use the tread, that you are wrapping it up around the watch?  Exposing the watch to being scratched, not to mention the bangs and torquing are sure to come about by using a floppy screwdriver.

Just found this forum. Great resource.

I am about a week into wearing Tread, which I absolutely love so far. As an IT person and a mountain biker, I've used Tread daily now, at least 2-3 times a day. I do carry a wave with bits on me as well as a utility knife.

My question is, has anyone modified Tread or added any other gadgets to it.

Things I am thinking of:

1. Short roll of duct tape into the bit holding spots
2. Sharpening SIM card point into a needle head (I assume it might void a warranty?)
3. Modifying Link 4 into a whistle, and/or into a survival kit (fishing line, hooks, matches, flint)
4. Rolling duct/electrical tape around Leatherman bits and shoving them into the bit holder spots on the Links
5. Sharpening the Clasp's side into a cutting edge (again, might void a warranty?)

Any other ideas have you guys done or thinking about?

Also, if you carry Bit Kit with you, instead of using the side big holders on the link, you can use Link 2 1/4" BOX WRENCH to hold the bits. This way it's much easier to hold the bits in place while working.

Haven't had an issue with the screws before, but since getting a Fitbit HR I've not been wearing the Tread. And not going to screw with the watch & pins with the current Tread links. Not until they come out with a metal carriage to mount the watch & so the watch and pins don't get stressed if using the Thread. A removable, snap in and out, carriage would be bonza!

Anyhow, Tread Links came out with "comfort" screws.

Rough, not even polished. Crude products, not as well thought out though. Who would attach a Tread to a plastic watch, unless is was (like you stated) nothing more than a flashy bracelet.

I used my Tread, it came in handy a few times. Maybe I can wear it with the Fitbit... if the Tread had a rubber side bumper. /grin

I contacted Leatherman directly. I included the photo and described what the problem was, and I said I'd hate to have to send in the whole Tread and be without it for however long, since I wear it daily. I asked if they could just send me a replacement link and then I could send the old one back, and they said they would be happy to send me a replacement link. All they needed was my address (which I sent). I'm very happy with this outcome.

There was no note, letter, invoice, or anything other than the part, which was in a small plastic bag inside of a small Leatherman-branded box, which itself was stuffed inside a padded envelope mailer. So I have no idea if they want the old link back or not. I originally offered to send it to them, but they only said they would send me the new link, and never said anything about wanting the old one back.

I swapped the new link in for the old. Here's a photo. You can really tell the difference between the shiny new one and the scratched-up older links next to it.

I recently bought an open box SS Tread for under $100. My initial concern was with people complaining about the Tread being too heavy. Though almost 6' tall, I have small wrists. I chose to remove link #2 (#1-2 Philips - 3/16" flat and 1/4" hex driver) and link #4 (pick - cutting hook and carbide breaker). It fits slightly loose, but not rolling around. Removing the slim link would make it too small.

The adjusted Tread is lighter than my Seiko watch.Even with the two links, it is still lighter. I guess the weight complains came from people used to wearing digital watches. Before the purchase, I thought the Tread looked silly on a man wrist. Now I have it, I think it will make a great tacticool watch band. One thing I notice is the Tread is more comfortable with the clasp on top of the wrist. It feels natural like a watch. It will be nice if a watch face can be adapted on top of the clasp, meaning the 1/4" square driver will be right next to the watch face. A feature I notice is some links have the sides between two holes hollowed out in the shape of LM's proprietary flat bits. This hole is too big, the flat bit will slide thru. I can see LM potentially incorporate a bit driver on one link, and store a few bits in other links for a Tread 2.

I am interested in the thread size of the screws. The thread looks like 5.5mm. I would have preferred a T10 torx head instead of slot. For the current screws, I prefer the slot narrower, so the large flat head on the Surge can fit better. Why would someone by a $150+ tool and use a 1c tool (penny) for adjustment? LM thought people remove links on the go or something?

My cheapo calipers played trick on me. I thought I was reading .200" something, so I said 5.5mm screw thread in previous post. The thread is #4-48. I am surprised LM did not go with metric. This screw is uncommon. Its dimensions are of #4 stripper screws. I can find #4-40 stripper screws easily with different head configuration (slot, hex, torx...) by google, but could not find #4-48, except for some expensive stainless version with knurled head. Assume LM bought them special in bulk at $0.25/pc, that is at least $10 just for those 40 screws in the package.

Question,
Are there two different Tread versions?
I have seen differences in the cutter sections and the screws

Whery to buy or order separate links ?
I cannot find anything about it.

Been wearing my SS tread a lot lately, been getting a lot of comments from customers.  Saw another guy in town that had one but he didn't look like the talkative kind so I didn't get to ask him how he liked his.

One way or another, I ended up with 3 Treads  :P SS, Black, and Metric Black. The one I occasionally wear is the SS, in place of a watch, just for fun in the weekend. I have 6 + half links to fit my wrist. The Tread is not as heavy as my first impression of it. It feels natural just like a watch. No, I have no intention to use it at a multi tool, just strictly a bracelet.

The Metric Tread introduces 5 more links. I wonder if Leatherman will introduce more link configurations in the future. A few things I wish Leatherman consider:

- Sell the clasp and the half link (link #1) separately: I can make another Tread out of the spare links.
- Design a watch link: not a watch face that fit the links, not ChronoLink... a watch link in its own, with just time function. May be some protection around the face. Point is, it will truly make the Tread a multi-tool watch.

I contacted Leatherman directly. I included the photo and described what the problem was, and I said I'd hate to have to send in the whole Tread and be without it for however long, since I wear it daily. I asked if they could just send me a replacement link and then I could send the old one back, and they said they would be happy to send me a replacement link. All they needed was my address (which I sent). I'm very happy with this outcome.
I just noticed that the scribe insert is missing from the replacement link, just like it went missing from the original link. I'm not sure how long it's been gone, but I suspect not for very long. I recently used the SIM ejection tool and probably would've noticed if the insert was missing then, though of course I can't be certain.

But anyway, this is the second time the scribe insert has disappeared. And I've never even used the scribe tool! I don't think my wearing of the Tread could even be said to be "heavy duty usage" since I actually rarely use it for anything at all.

Has this happened to anyone else yet? Why don't you go check your own Treads and see if yours is still there...

To follow up on my above follow-up, I emailed Leatherman customer service about this. I actually replied to the email I got from them almost a year ago when it happened the first time. I haven't received an actual response from them, but I did receive a new replacement link in the mail.

Am no longer a Tread owner. About a year ago I went with a Fitbit and there really was no room to wear the Tread. It helped on some projects here and there, yet it went often unused. A facebook friend, Tracy R. wanted one a while back but the guy is a solo parent and raising two daughters. His advice over time was welcomed, and he would occasionally send me things that I couldn't find here. So, to make his day, I sent my Tread to him last week. :D

Interestingly, Leatherman's reaction to my problem: :o

Thank you for contacting Leatherman Tool Group, Inc.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Tread. Our tread is made out of a 400 series steel which is able to rust without proper cleaning. With the aggressive sweat on the hands and not rinsing an drying every day this could be the cause of the rust. You can clean it with WD-40 and a scotch bride pad. I would recommend rinsing and drying after every use. I hope this is helpful.

The bitten out metal is something that occurs on the back of a cheap metalic watch as well and is caused by the salt in sweat...

Shouldn't be allowed to happen with a €200 tool.

Leatherman states to clean it everyday? Do they clean their $200 watch everyday?!

More reports like this will come in, but I'm afraid LM will disregard them as "wrong use:

No offense taken. I didn't buy it based on your preferences ;-)

To each his own. The Tempo is a serious hunk of metal at 9.6 ounces. My Seiko diver watch is 7 ounces and I rarely wear it because of the weight.

This gshock/tread combo is only 5.5 ounces and fits under my cuff. It has solar charging, atomic time sync, and 29 world time zone settings. It's the perfect travel buddy for me.

Not sure why handshakes and hi fives would cause the screw to loosen .  Is the tread a real one?  I ask cause there are some really nice fakes out there.  I'd apply some blue thread lock on those screws myself.  That should prevent any loosening yet would still provide you the ability to loosen later.

I bought and returned a Tread Tempo. Unless you are a fan of fat and heavy Invicta watches, I recommend not to buy the Tempo. You are better off with buying a standard Tread, 3rd-party link adapter, and a watch face of choice (preferably with steel casing). Granted, the Tempo has stronger link connection than the 3rd-party link adapter, and has proper fit adjustment. However, the thing is seriously HEAVY. They need to make the watch face out of titanium to justify the $450 price tag.

thx @Poncho
@SCUBA GIGI- i do not quite understand you yet...i had 3 Treads, the black oxide was returned and ...i'm trying to say that i had experience with 3 Treads.
The buckle or lock mechanism, with one ball is designed to open at a specific relatively small amount of force, i believe it is for our own safety, the bracelet will not give the way your wrist/hand/flesh will , if you are caught in a nasty situation.
All the three Treads, if they sit on my wrist and i bend my wrist hard, or with a shock, the Treads will open.
I just clapped my hands hard , a little hard, and it opened, both of them.
Now...if you give a strong man handshake like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-OW4SAZgXY, it definately will open.
Try to check one in a store  to see how it behaves.

My Tread is in its packing and has been for a while.  I liked it well enough and didn't have the situation of it opening.  I also dont have arms the size of those fellas in the video .  The Tread IMO is a neat gadget.

I have sent my Tread in for a warranty check , only  had it less than 2 months. Ordered it just before my wife passed.

How acidic is your sweat? My grandfather had diabetes and his watches would rust-oxydise on his arm, so he went for thick  large leather strap

Finally added my knock off Tread to my Seiko watch, 6.1 oz total..heavy but functional. Without the silicon o rings it would be almost too painful to wear though. Also the o-rings give some grip that lets you turn the 1/4 inch hex wrench into a driver for hex bits.

Missed the Tread that I won in a Leatherman contest. Pondered ordering one for the last year, but it's that price ya know. Decided to bite the bullet and buy a BO Tread, and having a small engraving done. Hope the BO is okay as looked at another fella's post above and my sweat does okay with stainless steel. Had worn a SS Tread for a bit over a year and no issues, even took it on several plane trips across the USA and they airport security people told me to leave my jewelry on. LOL - Jewelry I thought, and snickered inside.

When I gave the Tread away to Tracey Ramsey, who never won a thing from any Leatherman contest, had noticed the bits actually fit a lot on the TerraTrike Rover. And I kind of miss the thing, even though the clasp would unlock itself when catching something in the hand, and the like. Hopefully Leatherman added the ball bearing spring thing on both sides, but won't hold my breath.

Probably should of stuck with SS over BO, but the price was the same, so figured 'why not?' and ordered one. Is the BO the same as the BO Surge, or is it more like the coating on a Skeletool CX? Guess will find out in the next week or two. Wished Leatherman would of stuck with the Postal Service for shipping as UPS takes literally a week+ to get from Portland, and USPS is like the next day. /sigh   Ah well.

Okay, got my Tread in earlier this month and trying a 30 day challenge using it. This DLC Tread came in the same day as my Thorogood 1957 boots did. Was a very happy day!  :D

Now, have a question. Has anyone tried using the glass breaker to, ya know, break automotive or any other type of glass with the glass breaker - yet? Seen a 7 second video of a guy using the Tread as a flail and breaking a window. Unless the carbide glass breaker actually did the work and not the flail technique, don't think that counts.

What do you all do to maintain your Treads? Do you treat them with anything like Balistol? Are they prone to elemental exposure?

When I was drilling/dremeling out a couple of my tread links to be able to hold two more of the leatherman bits and making attachments for my new watch, I found a two small mods that I haven't seen shared and some might find useful I figured I'd share.

1. The tread clasp is pinned with a hollow rollpin. The inner dimensions of the pin will allow for a 1/16 eyeglass screw driver. At the dollar tree, I bought a small screw driver set, and cut the end of the 1/16 phillips off. From, there, it's pretty easy to file/dremel the other end to a small flathead and then you can store it in the clasp. I cut small pieces from an o-ring and punches a hole through both, putting them around the end of the driver to hold it in place. While you can't get to much purchase on it, the little screws usually don't have to be torqued down to hard, and I've been able to tight my eye glasses with just the pin tool. You can also use a little super glue to fix it in the watch, and then use the whole thing as a driver, just make sure the glue doesn't get down to the inner part of the clasp. Another note, the pin itself is 3/32, so you can replace the whole pin with the largest phillips from the same dollar tree kit (again grinding a flat head into the other end) but this driver was too large for my eyeglasses, and too small to be useful for me for other purposes.

2. The tread is hard to get a precise fit. There is not a good way to tighten or loosen the band in small increments. With my new watch, I needed to shrink the band size ~5 mm to make it a better fit for me. I was going to buy some steel and see about cutting new clutches (little things that screw into the links and hold two together) like I've seen on this thread, but an easier solution presented itself. I had noticed that an old bicycle chain I had has links that are just under 1 mm smaller than the standard links on a tread. The holes they already have in them work well with the screws, so you can just pull them apart with a chain breaker and install them. (Bike shops will give you old chain as they just send it to the recycler). They are a bit wider than the leatherman clutche, and if you store bits in the links, the chain will make it so you cannot pull them out as they overlap the edge(This can be a good thing as it can prevent you from losing them). You can address this by filing/dremeling them down as I did. I left the overlap on the end so that they prevent the bits from falling out when the watch is worn, but when you take off the watch you can fold it so the bits can be taken out. *If you replace the the clutches that hold the clasp, you will need to file down the edges as the overlap will prevent the clasp from closing otherwise.

Feel free to pm me for more details on how to do it or pictures, just figured I'd put it out there!

I used it more as jewelry on my hand, bling bling, look at me, status, etc than as utility tool. I had Not so many chances to use the tool, and when i had, their lenght, format was not a pleasure.
Used the most the simcard tool, the package opener, the bottle opener, once or twice the hex and almost never the inside key.
I always have my Squirt PS4 with me and that one is the go multitool. Plus that, i may have other multitools with me that are more easy to be used, so that is also an argument why i use it more as bling bling

I got a clone. At first glance, wow, how good they've built it. Yet, beeing a Tread user something felt immediately odd. It seemed like it had too much slack and was too "loose".
After some inspection, the cause for the slack is because of the connecting link, it is lengthier than original, and also slightly slimmer, and the screws also had something off, and all tolerances add to each other.
There are various clones, some better than the other, and incredible close to the original.
This one has the tools polished, screws can't be used with the quarter cent, connecting link rounder and lenghtier, 2 balls on the closing part instead of one as the original, carbide tip is not present on the scribe, it is part of the link(same material)
The only swapable part between the two, are the connecting links, the rest do not fit mainly because the original screws are a larger and different step count.
At an arms lenght you can not distinghuish inbetween and also it would be hard for someone not familiar with the original Tread.
I believe someone used with Leatherman products might say that the QC skipped the one or LMN is not making products like the used to

Heard a rumor here in Europe that Tread and Tempo are EOL ( plus MUT , OHT and PS4), somehow shown in the big 45% sale for BF.
For the current price, the watch is a good deal even as a timepiece

I cannot take advantage of the 45% off Tread sale. I think Leatherman blacklist me indefinitely, potentially until I change my address and credit card  :-[. I tried to order the Tread watch face and the website kept denying my CC. Their CS once said they did not ban me, but the last time I bought from their website was a few years ago (the Charge AL Red Cross). I have not been able to buy anything from them since.

Apparently, if you buy multiple units of the same items, you may end up being "forwarder / reseller" in LMT book for God-knows-how-long. They lost my business. I stick with eBay for my tool need.

After my 3rd or 4th order from Leatherman, they sent me an email stating my order was on hold until I called them.  I did, and they just asked me a few questions.  At first, I thought they were checking if I had stolen someone's identity and CC, but I later realized they were checking that I wasn't reselling them.  I think I said that I have been bitten by the Leatherman bug, and I was slowly working on buying all of them.  They haven't bothered me since.

I am not sure whether it is a policy, I just vaguely recall someone from their CS said they could not get me off the naughty list. It was something "sophisticated" that mere humans could not tweek. Before the latest incident, they would let me order, then just canceled it. That was how I missed out on the Woodland Camo Charge sale as well as the Damascus Charges (luckily BladeHQ hooked me up). Now they just flat out said something wrong with my CC.  :twak:

I do sell some Leatherman occasionally, like 1 out of every 10 I buy LOL. However, it should not be their goddamn business what I do with my purchases. Strangely, I have not sold any tools I bought directly from their website yet.  :P IMO, in all tool / knife manufacturers in OR, Benchmade have the most accommodating CS with most awesome warranty policy.

I was asked to call in before. That was how I learned my address was a forwarder on their book  :P

I got my Tread a few weeks ago, but I’ve only just got round to playing about with the fit.

With two full size links out it’s just too tight to be comfortable, so I’ve taken out one full size link (Link 9 for now) and Link 1.

I’m considering ordering another Link 1 before they sell out and trying it with two full size links removed and the extra Link 1 inserted.

Still do not understand why Leatherman discontinued so many of their tools. Withed there was a locking clasp option for the Tread to have a can opener to replace the bottle opener, and to use dual ball bearings as opposed to just one.

FYI, the knock off treads from aliexpress cost about 20 bucks and their clasp comes with two ball bearings, one on each side. If you like your tread it's probably worth buying one just for spare parts unless you loaded up from leatherman when they were discontinued.

Not sure eith the angle you could ever get a can opener to replace the bottle opener unless you did a flip out blade design like some of the old GI openers.

Might be worth checking aliexpress, they sell these connectors and with leatherman saying they won't help you I have no problem supporting knockoffs.
