I used to type this out in reply emails, but lately I have been getting so many that I can't respond to them all, so I am doing it here instead.
When you get a Private Message (PM), the site sends you an email notifying you that you have a PM. In the email is a copy of the PM and this is probably where folks are getting confused. Also in the email is a line that says:
IMPORTANT: Remember, this is just a notification. Please do not reply to this email.
Replying to the email means you are replying to the notification, not the PM itself, which means that you are sending an email to the site... and that means I get it, not the person you are dealing with.
So, when you see these emails, log into the site to respond, don't hit reply and send me an entire copy of your conversation to date! :D

Ignore the above, and wind the boss up instead :D

Is there any way I can turn off the email notification? frankly I spend far more time here than I do checking my mail so I always end up reading the notification after I've read the message.

Same here, Gareth... I just can't believe people actually respond to the emails!
Time to poke some fun. :pok:

You can change it in your profile under "Personal message options".

You go boss!!

As much as my inner paranoia and general nosiness enjoys knowing everyone's business, there are some things I am certain folks would like to keep to themselves.
Don't get me wrong, I like reading what everyone else is up to, but if someone thinks their messages are being sent and they aren't and the other party gets upset, well it could foul the deal and leave both the members unhappy.

I thought that as the owner of the site you could read anyone's PMs if you wanted to? Not saying you would, but that you could :)

There is a component to the software that will allow me to do that, but it is an add on, not a basic component, and to be honest, I would prefer folks had their privacy. While I am nosey (security speSmurfpillst/private investigator) I know I probably wouldn't frequent a site that didn't allow me some privacy.

Hmm, I wonder who'd send such an email... :D

I really like the email notification, it's a good reminder and helps when I have little time :tu:
I've always known admin can read all privates (all sites), and I'm glad you can (whether you do or don't)
it can help you with spam and you get to see the naughty girlie pics Mikey makes me send him! :P :D

Def said above how it is a feature that is possible here, however it is not installed to do so.

Yup- I can't read PM's (unless folks mistakenly email them to me, which is what this thread is about) and to be honest, I don't want to. Private Messages should be just that- PRIVATE. If members are having a dispute and want to copy a moderator on the PM's then that's different, but I'd like to make it perfectly clear that I don't have access to everyone's PM's and I don't have any intention of changing that. :tu:

...no, I don't think that persistent rash is syphillis. I doubt it's related to the lap dance you bought either. Still, it would be a good idea to have it looked at before things start falling off a man.

LOL!
Syphyllis may be doubtful, but recently read a newspaper article about strip club patrons contracting MRSA from lap dances.

Bringing this one back up as I have been getting a lot of emails again lately from people who think they are responding to messages.

Bottom line- PLEASE LOG IN TO THE FORUM AND RESPOND TO MESSAGES. REPLYING TO THE EMAIL WILL NOT WORK.

So I should only respond to the emails? :pok:

You can if you want me to know what deals and things you have going on, but the person you are talking to won't know.
If you really want me in on the deal, log in to the site and add me to the PM chain, and that way you get the best of both worlds. :P
