May the plinking commence :D

Over on BB. Wasn't cheap, but it really spoke to me so I had to have it. :D
-
You made a good choice Ben - Webley were always the best air guns.

They seemed to be pretty popular. It was the vintage looks that really attracted me to it. It certainly seems very well made.
-
When I was a lad (yeah, I know >:() only the rich kids had Webleys. Firing Phil's at the weekend reminded just how good they are.
-
Wow, I'm a rich kid! :D
Actually I'm not as I have had to part with a real treasure to fund it.
-
Very nice, Ben! :tu:

My Trailmaster will be returning to it's rightful owner.

It is sadly true. But it is only going to Mike. :tu:
-
Superb choice :). Of my four airguns, three are Webleys (2 rifles and a pistol). They seem to have more character than other brands :) They switched production from Birmingham to overseas a little while back and, from what I've read aren't really the same thing at all so second hand is the only way to go.
-
That's a beautiful piece,it has a certain pre-war look to it,back when craftsmanship in arms making meant something.

Damn fine pistol mate, it really looks the part for something over 60 years old :)
And best of all I get my Traily back, and all for the bargain basement price of £400 :o
-
You are friggin kidding me, no way in hell I'd pay over $700 for a knife! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

They sure are. :tu: Had a few shots out in the garden just now and it was great fun.

Is it Co2 powered?
Those are nice looking pistols :tu:

Nope, not CO2. Just springs.

Not unless it's solid gold or lightsabre, $700 is way too much for a piece of steel bar and some plastic, which I bet won't work any better than a $200 fallkniven, or a $70 becker.
-
We were only joking. :D

When we were away down the coast last week , I found myself in a camping/bike/gun store. They also had a nice collection of obscenely priced MT's , saw my first ever Switchplier for sale in OZ for $180aus :o :o. I thought I would ask about air rifles , last time I looked on the net for local air guns they all seemed to be well over $1000.I think I managed to only find those air rifles they use in sporting competitions. So when the shop guy said $220 for a plinker & $350 for a hunting gun , I did a little dance on the inside. Both of the guns were Gamo brand , so if my Chrysler goes I am gettin one. Misses not loving the idea though ::) :D :D :D
-
I have not been well all week, cold/flu throat problems obviously not used to camp fires and camping :(
Good to hear you have another hobby benner
Guns are like m/tools (one is not enough)
Bet you get a gas powered one next, in the pic below there is a sheridan .2 very powerfull for its size, good for vermin etc.

Do they still make the Sheridan mate ???
Glad your on the mend :tu:

Glad you like your Webley Ben, they don't make 'em like that anymore. Not a CNC machined part in sight :D

thanks mate :tu:
i think they still sell the sheridan.it comes under the crossman range..

Man I want a high powered air rifle to get rid of the friggin ground hogs and skunks that are eating my garden/digging up my yard, and perhaps the cats that's crapping all over the place as well. My current crosman POS doesn't even dent them, I nail them and they come back two days later.
Sucks in canada I need to go through all the firearm license stuff to buy an air rifle, and then they are >$500 for a decent one.

Not sure about that mike.. there are about 5 gun shops within a 8/9 mile radius from my home.. :D
-
Hey welcome back Phil - glad you're feeling better  I thought we'd upset you or something ;)
-
no mate everyone was great, i enjoyed the meet very much.
i think i inhaled a bit to much smoke from the fire and i was very cold in that tent.
i am more a hotel and central heating type person..
tell me again the model of your pistol i was quite impressed with it
phil

Well there's one within about 5 miles of me, but they only sell Sportsmarketing stuff :-\
And i think Dave's pistol was a Beeman something or other
-
It's a Beeman P17. It was about £70 I think, I can't remember for sure, but it seems to be one of the best of the cheapies looking at the reviews on the net.
Perfectly good enough for plinking anyway!
-
Not a bad air pistol Dave :)

I see you've joined an airgun forum, Ben :salute::. I'm oldhw77 on there. You'll find the people on the collectable airguns section really helpful.
Looking at on of my airgun books your pistol appears to be a post World War 2 model as it has 'Webley' on the grips and knurling on the barrel - Seniors where made between 1935 and 1964. The bopk also says that they are 'judged to be the best of the pre-WWII Webley air pistols' :tu:.

I assumed it was you as you are the only Craig I know on here. :D
After a bit of research, it turns out that mine is one of the earlier post war Seniors as it has "Birmingham 4" on it. That dates it late 40's early 50's I believe.
What book are you looking in mate?

Like Mike mentioned, there are no gun shops round here so I guess I should take that as a good thing. :D

The Chinese airguns are not bad these days, especially their higher end ones. Don't get me started on the Turkish made Webley springers though. >:(

I really miss shooting at things. Not sure living next to a Mosque near the city centre is a good place to wave my air pistol around though!
I used things like 2 litre plastic bottles as targets, then the pellets would go in but not come out again which meant I could use them again :)

In some of the picture threads, with my reviews, and a few dotted around the place :P
Besides you cheeky bugger, you have had the odd freebie out of me you know :D
-
I know I know! :D
And anyway, I only still have it because you left it in my car. :D Even though I spent hours and hours looking for it [insert violin here :D]

Yeah that was pretty dence :-[
But hey we were both suffering from exaustion and hyperthermia, so neither of us are to blame for you forgeting to remind me to pick it up :D

Yep, never underestimate the psychological damage being trapped in a steel box with me can do :D

I really miss shooting at things. Not sure living next to a Mosque near the city centre is a good place to wave my air pistol around though!
I used things like 2 litre plastic bottles as targets, then the pellets would go in but not come out again which meant I could use them again :)
Thats a good tip to save on pellets..i bet it was hard to miss a 2 litre plastic bottle.. :D
I put a target on the front of it silly! My gun isn't very high powered so you can't go that far away anyway :D

Maybe even the same ???
-
I'd say they were the same thing just rebranded.
-
Looks like a case of badge engineering to me :)
Are the spec's similar ???
-
Yeah I think so. It looks even more similar half-cocked like in phil's first pic.
-
Well I think a duel with pistols is the only way we going to solve this, so whoever screams loudest has the most feeble gun :D :D
-
I think the design is the same but they are made by different companies. It would be interesting to compare them side by side - maybe that's something you can do at the next meet up :).

Reading into guns etc, it is interesting to see all the different areas of legislation that affects certain areas of ownership etc (airsoft for example). I never knew there was so much to know.
