I'm sitting in the airport awaiting my flight back to the frozen wasteland of Michigan... so, I figured I would post a couple of pictures from our trip to Gatorland on Saturday. Def and I had an amazing time there, all thanks to our resident Gator Wrestler "Latino Heat" (aka Doggy Guru)
Thank you Johnny! We had a great time!
Here's Def and I INSIDE the pen with Chester... a 13 and a half foot 1000lb alligator.

Johnny posing with the real star of Saturday's Gator wrestling show... (the Leathermans)

Afterwards, Def and I both tried our hands at a little Gator wrestling.

At the end of an excellent day, we couldn't resist to take one more picture :D

Def and I both have a lot more pictures from our day at Gatorland that we'll post when we can...
-
Damn you all seem to still have your limbs attached  :D
-
No WAY could you ever get me into the pen with one of those things! :ahhh
-
Your braver then I thought :o I So hope you have a video of it chasing you guys around the pen . That would be soooo funny :D

Great pics....who had the more powerful jaws...the gator or the Leatherman
-
Cool pics. Did you guys get to feed Chester?
No WAY could you ever get me into the pen with one of those things! :ahhh
I agree. This is the only gator I feel comfortable being in the same room with:

How come none of you wrestled with the big boy? :D
-
Even with all three of us together we were well short of Chester's weight class!
Man that was a great trip... that alone would have been worth the trip to Florida, even if the SHOT Show wasn't here! We have lots of great pics (and some video!) as Mike said, and I'll try and get some posted soon. The show is just ending, I'm back at the hotel and trying to eat breakfast... and it's 4:10pm! :P
Johnny, yoodaman! That was an amazing experience, and a great show. Truly a top notch attraction and I'm glad we not only got to see it, but also to meet you in person!

Great pics guys! :)
-
Yah thanks a ton to all of you. Now can we start next years thread?
Def will be my Roomie!!!
-
It wasn't all fun and games... not all of us walked away from Gatorland in one piece!

Def, is that the SLV you got from Dennis?
-
That's the one... not that it did me any good. Did you know that large reptiles were impervious to 154cm? I didn't...
Def
-
Yuck! Poor creature, that must have tasted horrible! :P
-
Don't worry, Mikey slipped him a breath mint!
Def

It was alot of fun, having Mikey and Grant out. You guys were fun and very good sports (ya'll missed out on a video of me using Def at one of the shows. I "volunteered" him to hold an 11 foot python, and bet my partner in the show $5 that "the guy in the pony tail" would run and scream like a little girl). Mikey's face was priceless when I had him hold a scorpion and tarantula. I do this everyday, but having Def and Mikey there made it soo much cooler. We have a table in our office that we sign when we graduate and become gator wrestlers. I think I'm going to write Defender and 665ae from MT.O, honorary gator wrestlers.
One question, though. Are you pooping in the bushes in the second picture of the thread, Def?
LOL.
-
It's not my fault... Chester is a BIG boy and pretty intimidating!
And it was really funy when Mikey accidentally picked up the really poisonous tarantula and scorpion by mistake!
Good job playing it cool until you could get the thick gloves on and get them away from him!
Def
-
LOL. Mickey reminds me of Silent Bob. He's a cool cat who doesn't say much. But he was a tad bit nervous holding two venomous arachnids. Hell, at least he held them Def tried to eat them!! LOL. Hey, let me know when you get home, Def. And get home safe.

Oh no! I've heard that a scorpion sting can make your mind go all twisted and perverted. Poor Mikey.

Thanks Johnny- I leave first thing in the morning but I won't be home until tomorrow evening. You can bet I'll be online at the airports if I can as I have a bit of a layover.
As for holding your pet bugs there, well to be honest, I was probably just as thrilled as Mikey, at least with the tarantula. But, I sure as hell wasn't going to wimp out, and if you are going to do something, you might as well have fun with it! Getting in the pen with Chester was an experience, and one I won't soon forget, but I'd have been damned if I missed it! He's a fantastic big beastie and I'm glad I met him, at least as close as I did! Not sure I'd want to get closer than I did, and certainly not without an experienced gator wrestler to call 911 and inform my next of kin, but that's something that not too many folks in Nova Scotia can say they did!
It was a trip man, and I loved every minute of it. I'll let you know when I upload your show, and I'll be posting it here because I am sure everyone here would like to see it! It wasn't just the gators- I suspect they are the easy part- but you worked the crowds like a pro, and I wished I'd brought my video camera to get a proper video, and gotten all three shows! But, at least there's a good reason to come back!

lol, that last picture is simply the best. The facial expressions on you guys are hilarious. :D
:o :-\ lol

Thanks for the pictures really enjoyed it :tu:

Hell, at least he held them Def tried to eat them!!
It seems like Def wasn't the only one with a taste for crawly things... and I have proof!

Def actually looks like he's about to lose his lunch... and the tarantula looks terrified. :D

:ahhh :ahhh :ahhh I don't like spiders :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh
The rest of it looked like fun though :o :D :D :D :tu:
-
I don't like spiders either... or scorpions...
I look calm, but I was panicking on the inside!
-
The hair on the tarantula's legs........it looks like it would tickle you as it walked. (shudder) Oooh that gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about it :D
-
Actually you'd be surprised how soft and gentle the touch of a big tarantula is. Wierd I know, but there you have it.
-
If I remember right, the Scorpion was noticeably heavier. The Tarantula was pretty light and when it moved I didn't feel much. (but then my mind may have been numbed with panic)
-
Hey, that scorpion is trying to lose weight- you could at least try to be supportive!
Def
-
I have a tarantula, but she won't let me hold her. :(

Tarantula is a terrible thing to call your wife!

Wasn't that Al Bundy's pet name for Peg?
"I see deadly red tarantula,
But that's ok, because my hands in my pantula!"

LOL I actually remember that.
Spiders, especially tarantulas, freak me out. ESPECIALLY the goliath bird eater. Have you guys ever seen one of those? They're about the size of a large dinner plate! :ahhh Were there any of those at Gatorland?
Picture of GOLIATH BIRD EATER (http://www.gedcasserley.saddleworth.net/assets/images/Jess21.jpg) (Don't look if you hate spiders!!!)

I'm not entirely comfortable with spiders either, but I sure as hell wasn't going to wimp out in front of forum members! I'd never live it down!

We don't have any goliaths at Gatorland, but I have actually held one. Pretty big, heavy spider. Took up my whole hand, and it wasn't even stretched out.
I could TOTALLY see Def and 665ae lookin a bit trepidatious about holding the arachnids, but they gutted it out.
-
Only big insect I've held was a giant African Millipede.
http://www.alchemyimageworks.com/images/lrg_insects/Giant20African20Millipede.jpg
I did NOT like the idea of all those little legs ( :ahhh ) but in the end it wasn't to bad. Besides my wife and three year old were watching. ::)

We used to use those in the same show we use the arachnids in. They were pretty cool, unless they pooped on ya.

Why, are their poop just as long as their bodies? :D

I just linked to this thread in another discussion, and, while re-reading it, I decided it was worth being today's Dirty Dozen Thread Necro!
Orlando was a great experience, not just because of the SHOT Show, or the behind the scenes visit at Gatorland, but also because I got to meet THREE other MTO members on that trip! Mikey (665ae), Johnny (Latino Heat, Navejero, Doggy Guru and others I can't quite recall!) and another guy who hasn't been around in a while either, Andy, aka Polish Sumgui.
It was a great time and I consider myself very fortunate to have met so many of our members over the years, and look forward to meeting a lot more of you in the future!

yikes! Just what my arachnophobia needed... *shudders* :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh
Excellent entertainment though! :D I think I've read it before, but it's been a while...
Thanks for the necro, boss!
