I just went to get my favourite little adjustable, a 4" that opens up the same as a 6", out of my drawer to take a pic and it's gone :(Mwahahahahahahahahahahhhhaaaaaaaaaaaa. Move along Kev - you've had your chance.

That wasn't me  Tom maybe  :think:Ah, yes it was. With the podger on the other end. :tu:
Found mine :DYou don’t say.... :D ::)
My boss had "borrowed" it, yet he negelected to ask permission or tell me he had just taken it :twak:
The reason it opens up to the same as a 6" is because it is a 6"

Question, go easy on me please....
I know nothing about adjustable wrenches, is there really such a thing as a 4” that can expand to a 6”? ???

Aren't they pretty! I've got a similar picture to post once I take it. Plus another with vintage adjustables, a third with 6 inch and under adjustables (which just grew considerable thank you very much) , and multitool adjustables. Not entering just joining the fun. I shouldn't be allowed out either. :ahhh

"That junk only grabs 2 sides of the nut. And it can even shift it's width while doing so. Don't spend time and money on that junk and buy a decent wrench set!"
Which I still haven't got
He's also the man who said "powered drills to drive screws?! When you can do your job all day with just a screwdriver, that is the moment you're allowed to grab a drill"
As a result I still prefer a screwdriver over a powered tool when installing alarm components. My co-workers watch in awe and shake their heads but find out at the end of the day that I installed faster then they did.
I need to carry my screwdrivers and pliers in my pockets, a small ladder and a battery powered hammer drill. I can carry all that at once. While they also have to carry a powered driver, meaning they have to walk a second time every time, and switch/charge batteries for that extra device too.
Only now I understand the old man :dd:
Excellent specimens Zoidbergy! :salute:

I bought this one a while back from a junk shop.
Handle had been broken... still cool and useful though.
Not exactly an adjustable spanner but I thought I would share.

Meh, I tend to follow Sparky and break out the death wheel :D
Like a few others, I prefer using a dedicated box or open-ended wrench, but it's hard to beat the versatility and convenience of an adjustable: they work on both metric, SAE, and Whitworth nuts and bolts. :D
I've got a few different sizes, ranging from 4" to 15". While the box wrench reigns supreme in my garage or hobby room, it's the adjustable I have with me when walking or driving around. In my motorcycle tool kit I keep a few key box/open wrenches and specific sockets, but I also have an adjustable for the unexpected.
I find an 8" adjustable to be the most useful all-around size, but my favorite is probably this 4" Diamond Horseshoe adjustable. Slips easily into a bag or pocket and has proven useful in a number of situations when I don't have the right tool at hand. And it's often just quicker and easier to pull a 4" out of a bag or pocket for some small job. Paired with a multi, it's a versatile combination for EDC. :tu:

It really is. I have use a many of crescent wrenches/adjustable spanners as a hammer.Ran out to my truck and snagged a pic....

I have one with a ratchet on the other end. I've always thought the hammer poll on adjustables was a wise addition and admission of how the tool would really be used.
Very true, cuts back on those bloody knuckles! This is my fav,,

This version is on my want list. It is very gizmotic.
Here is another one that came from grandads bench.

:tu:I guess, the only thing is there spring loaded, so they will only tighten so tight, unlike the others you adjust to what you want it to tighten to. So if you took a spring and put these on it and clamped it down on the spring it would only tighten down so far, unlike the adjustable ones you can adjust them really tight and squeeze it down to lock and fully compress the spring, get it?
A bit like mole grips?

Yeah cause it’s one hand only, just pull back on that lever, then lock down. Unlike adjusting then locking down, but only to a certain ftlbs, so if there’s a say 1” gap and you go to clamp down and the jaws open all the way, it’s only going to clamp so far, unlike the one you adjust, where you can squeeze down and close the gap and locks.. I don’t know how else to explain?:tu:I guess, the only thing is there spring loaded, so they will only tighten so tight, unlike the others you adjust to what you want it to tighten to. OK, so they will be quicker to use?
So you could use them for picking up donuts in the workshop without getting oil on your food?Well kinda, you could pick up the donuts without locking down  well, maybe even locking down, going to be a little crushed, as far as the oil, depends on how clean you keep your tools..
I need a pair :ahhh
I don't think I would want to eat a donut that had been picked up by a plumber's tools. Sorry buddy.Oh heck no! That’s how biting nails stopped, cause after working in this field you don’t want to! Some days I wouldn’t even eat lunch, food had to wait till I got home and cleaned up! So forget eating food with tools!

I've got one of them somewhere. They are great for really tight stuff as they hold better than a standard adjustable. There's a you tube guy in the US who has started making them just like it.
Not the best, just a cheapie 4" I have in my pocket at work. Comes in handy though for getting into things or tightening loose things and works better than the Surge pliers :salute:

(OK so I forgot this was still running :-[ )
Needed a wrench this morning for plumbing duty’s, and I don’t mean sitting on the toilet!
Yes, there's more than one Mad Plumbarian around here...
:D :D :D :D

Hey Prsantos, I noticed that big wrench of yours by Dexter is orange and black. Does that mean it is a Bear Grylls wrench?
