Title: Postin Links
Post by: gadgetman7 on November 02, 2008, 04:35:29 PM
How do I post a link so that it doesn't show the whole address - just a label? Some of these addresses are pretty long.

Its real easy to do :)

Just put a [ and the letters url= in front of your link, then an opposite ] then the text you want to appear, then the letters

Like this:

1) [url =

2) paste your link

3) ]

4) text you want to see, like HERE for instance

5)

Only put it all together, with no spaces. If you do it right it looks like this:

Visit the main Multitool.org site HERE (http://www.multitool.org/)

(hit the quote button gadgetman7 and it will show you exactly what my link looks like)

Roadie posted a tutorial a while back: Posting Links (http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,2487.0.html).

It should look like this: [XXX=http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,2487.0.html]Posting Links[/XXX] except you need to replace the XXX with url.

you can also use sites like this; http://tinyurl.com/create.php
which makes them smaller but Bobs way is "prettier!" :pok:

Ahhh, that's a lot better way of explaining it than I did. :)
