Out of curiosity, what was the first Leatherman multitool that you owned, and what was last acquisition to date? :viking:
• First: Marlboro catalog branded PST was my first. Parents saved up points and asked if there was anything I wanted from the catalog. The PST was the first to draw me in.
• Last was a Flair, the SMURFIT NEWSPRINT CORP branded one that someone posted to the forum was the last Leatherman acquisition.
• Favorite is a Charge TTi that I converted with Rebar pliers & awl, and carry a Leatherman Serac S2 in the side pocket.
-
That is a coincidence Outback, my first one was a Marly PST, purchased with miles, and my most recent is the Flair also. :salute:
I have gifted or sold the other ones I had except a Pulse, so those 3 are favorites I suppose. :)
-
Micra 1st, last I think an OHT, favourite ST300
-
First Leatherman was the original Wave. I searched the internet, or what the internet was back in '99 and compared the multools on the market and settled on the Wave. It was vastly different than the competition and had more tools than anyone else.

First: a Skeletool CX. I was a university student back then and was amazed by it's design. Not much of an ergonomic tool but I loved it.
Last: Wave.
Favourite: Wave or Rebar, I'm not sure yet :)
-
First: Juice CS4
Last: Style
Favourite Stock: Sideclip or Wave, dependent on carry needs
Favourite Mod: my Fuse-ilier mod
-
First was a Micra.
Last was a Mini.
Favorite probably the Rebar, modded with scissors.
-
Glad you are enjoying the Smurfit, I was the one who posted it :tu:
First was a PST
Last is a Wave won on the forum
Favorite are a Supertool or my modded Rebar or......... :D
Hard to pick a favorite
-
First was a PST, last was a JPST, and my favorite is a toss up between my OG Super Tool, PST II, or my Rebar.
-
First was an original Wave in 99 - I was aware of multitools, but had never come across anything like the wave before and pretty much bought the day after I first saw it... I spent about a weeks wages on it! Unfortunately another technician broke it a few years later, and the replacement Wave wasn't quite as good, but I still have the original pouch.
Since then I've gone through loads of various leatherman from Charges, Juices, Surges etc... but never the Crunch though!
Last one was a technically a broken PST I bought for parts.
Favourite, and the one I use daily now is bizarrely a very old PST I bought off ebay ( that you're all probably sick of seeing pictures of) that I (slightly) moded the blade and philips on - I just love the build quality.
-
First - A Wave 2004, gift from oldest son.
Last - SS Surge, purchased after following the Surge challenge.
Favorite - a tie between ST300 and Rebar.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
First- og wave
Last - wave plus
Fav- Rebar or core, tuff decision
-
First: Skeletool, long since sold as it wasn't being used
Latest: Charge AL also now sold (as I already had a Charge TTi)
Favourite: I was going to say Surge, or Rebar, or TTi, or Crunch... But judging by how often I carry it, I think my favourite must be my Style CS. It's the perfect accompaniment to a good pocket knife.
-
First = Micra in 1998
Last = Bo Wave a gift from Sawman
Favorite = Blave :multi:
-
First og wave, favourite og Surge and the last heritage PST

Great topic idea, Outback!
My first LM was a used JPST. Last LM I bought was a Signal. Favorite is a 2005 stock configuration Wave. Close second is a ReWave(rebar w/ scissors, wave pliers, and bit changer) from Breezy I use in my camp bag. :)
-
First : Surge SS
Last : Charge TTI
Favorite : Surge BO
-
First: PST
Last: ST300
Fave: Rebar!
-
First: One of the early PST's when the main blade was more of a drop point.
Last: Super Tool 300
Favorite: Super Tool 300
-
as most here,
First one was a Micra,
last one was a Rebar,
and that last one has become my most loved and used of them all, no doubt, so favorite is Rebar
:salute:

First OG Wave, last Tread LT and favorite Charge XTi

1st. Wingman if I recall correct.
Last. Charge XTi
Favorite(s). Come on now I can't just choose 1. TTi. Skeletool CX, Charge AL, Mighty Surge ( new version ).
-
1st ‘94 PST my dad gave me, still have it.
Last Limited Edition PST, will live in its 📦
Favorite Wave 2/Rebar too close to call.
-
My first LM is a supertool and my latest is the LM crunch :tu:
But my favourite at the moment is the LM crunch
-
I own the Leatherman Wave and I really like it, it is my first and last. I would like to get the Juice as well.
What is the difference between the Juice SX and C2?
-
First - Wave bought New '97 Unused Still boxed
Last - Tread Used - not impressed
Favourite - Genus - Such a radical design and beautifully built
-
First was a Micra
Last was a PST in need of some serious attention.
Favorite is... a tossup between Micra, Rebar, and Wave. Really depends on application.
-
First, PST II, which really got me into multitools.
Most recent, an OG Wave that should be here Friday.
Favorite--still the RadioShack Squirt E4. It was the first Leatherman I ever knew about, and I found them at Radio Shack when I was 11?, and with my allowance couldn't afford it. The on-board tools are better than anything else in the Squirt line. And maybe the Crunch too, that fits locking pliers into a pocket-friendly size, unlike the Schrade Vise Grip-based tools and the Kershaw A100, all around the size of a Petersen Vise Grip 6LN.
-
First was the PST somewhere around 1987 or so.
Last was a Juice last year from the esteemed shop up in this forums corner.
Favorite one would be the Micra I think. Although after the air travel craziness that has become less handy.
-
First - PST, 1984
Last - Rebar, 2017
Favorite - My custom modified Charge
-
First was a Kick which I got as a gift at a boy scout rank ceremony (don't remember which rank). Last was a PST with a large plier pivot to fill a hole in the collection. My Favorite is probably my 2nd gen Wave which I've had for years, traveled the world with me, and has saved the day countless times
-
First - PST (09/94), a gift from an uncle who was friends with the German distributor
Last - LM Tool Adapter
Favorite - Wave
-
FIRST ST200
LAST SURGE Mrs Fool gave it to me for Christmas this year :)
FAV REBAR,SURGE, NEW WAVE, JUICE CS2, OLD WAVE,PS4, ,, :ahhh DUDES I JUST CAN'T DECIDE :ahhh
-
First: Super Tool
Last: Rebar
Favorite: Rebar
Had a Micra and gave it away.
-
First - Squirt P4
Last - Raptor
Favorite - Skeletool & Wave
-
First was the original Supertool.
Favourite is, without question, the Pulse.
Last, I'm embarrassed to say, I can't remember. :-[ In my defence it's been a couple of years since I bought a LM and I can't recall in what order I bought things in.
Edit- Seems that the last one I bought was my BO PST, though that was very shortly after my Sideclip. 8)
-
First: PST, no longer with me alas, but I have another
Last: BO ST 300 (CC)
Fave: judging by the number of times I carry it, my Rebar VX mod, although there is a Mini in my little EDC pouch for emergencies. For heavier duty my ST 300 VX mod. I also like the Surge-R and ReWaveR mods I did, but tend to not carry them that often - the knife laws here make me wary of carrying OHO locking blades... for design, not for practicality as carry tool, the Crunch.
-
First, PST
Last, REBAR
Fav, Black oxide Supertool.
-
My first Leatherman was a Mini I got sometime in the early 90's, but I rarely carried or used it because I was more blade oriented at the time and I didn't think I could do much with that tiny blade. Last and most often carried is the Skeletool purchased in 2016. My favorite by far is the Supertool 300 which I find carries comfortably despite it's size, and does everything I've ever needed it to do. I may change my mind about that being my favorite if I ever get my hands on a surge or a crunch (on my wish list) but they are out of my price range for the foreseeable future.
-
First: PST
Last; Signal
Favorite: 2nd Gen Wave
Least used: Leap /Rev
Love hate relationship: Juice CS4
-
great idea for a thread!
First: PST, circa 1994... given to me by my parents and carried with me on countless Boy Scout outings
Latest: green Skeletool... LM was having a sale around the holidays, and I couldn't resist :D
Favorite: Charge Ti... titanium scales and 154CM goodness without the damn cap crimper ;) Skeletool CX would have to be a close second.
Favorite mod: Mini Surge 2.0... which becomes even better with the Skinth that goes with it. (which reminds me that I need to post some pics in the Skinth loadout thread)
-
First: Wave / 2006
Last: Signal, Cabela’s Coyote
Favorite: Signal, Original
-
This is fun. :tu:
My first was a og supertool, I've gotten rid of it and really wish I'd have kept it. But that's the way things go ain't it? I think I traded it for a highlighter kf4, so all in all it was a great trade. Now thinking inbjt I don't necessarily miss the supertool, but more that it was my first and it's an original model, so the nostalgic side...
My latest is a black and silver wave from cabelas. Love it!
My favorite is a wave my wife got me for Father's Day. It's my work horse and I love using it. It means allot, and it gets the job done to boot!
-
Awesome backround art. :tu: :like:
-
Awesome backround art. :tu: :like:
It's Ralph Steadman, who did work for Hunter S. Thompson and fear and loathing. :tu:
I figured a Wave on a wave would work.
-
First: Core
Last: Flair
Favorite: a Charge TTi that TTC had on clearance. It was kind of wacky with purple, blue, gray, gold, polish black... colors on panels and components :P The frames were identical, so I could only use half length of the tool as a ruler. I gave it away though  The owner liked purple. I may want to ask the new owner if she would like me to add a damascus PE blade to complete the wackiness of the thing. So, no current favorite for me.

My first Lmn was the Surge gen1. Afterwards i collected tested many of the old and new. The last is the Tread wich i like very much altough very expensive.

Very interesting thread, I am enjoying reading how we all "evolved"
First: Micra and Sideclip combination. My dad's company did a Micra with their logo on and I got one. Same day I bought my first plier MT the Sideclip. Both tools have now been retired due to sentimental reasons. I will build a display picture frame one day with the story of the tools and the tools themselves.
Last: PST II, one of my all time favourite LM offerings. I have a stash of these if times get tough... I think it is one of the best all around MT's before the big and "lots of tools in me" MT's started evolving.
Favorite: Tough one, I have to say Original Charge Ti or the PST II
Pete
-
The favorites are the most interesting bit.
First: Original Supertool +-1995 (I lost it a few years after and replaced it with a Blast when they came out; slow starter)
Last: I recently got a Rebar as well as my first Juice models (KF4 and C2)
Favorite: Blast, no Fuse, no ST300; wait the Core or Pulse. Maybe Wave? Wait, Swisstool X

It is a favourite, but there is NO way it will take the place of my Charge. For me a favourite must be "The One" that I cannot do without. The Charge is the first tool I grab when I go anywhere other than work.
Maybe I can have another go? ;)

First: original Supertool (bought in 1995)
Last: Rebar (2017)
Favourite: Well, the most used ones are the...
Surge (new), Crunch , Rebar

My first Leatherman was an original PST that my dad bought for me back in the 80's. I was so excited to have it, but I guess I got a dud because after maybe a week of ownership, the pliers got jammed and so he took it back to the store for a refund (we didn't know anything about warranty replacement back then!). Anyway, I got a little jaded about multi-tools after that, and went without one and only carried a pocket knife for several years until I bought a Gerber something-or-other that suited me fine until I left it in a hotel room, but that's another story.
Over the years I've owned several Leatherman tools; an Original Wave (that I took to Iraq), a couple of the new Waves, a Rebar, ST300, Wingman, Sidekick, a few Skeletools and Skeletool CX's, Juice S2, Squirt, etc. I only have the Rebar and Wingman right now.
Which one was my favorite? Shoot, I don't know.... they all had their place. I really liked the Juice S2 for its simplicity and non-threatening look and size, and my favorite thing about the Rebar is that is very closely resembles my original PST. But I think my favorite overall is my original Wave. It served me very well for many years. It was a hammer, MRE opener, license plate remover.. it got used for literally everything and I ended up selling it on ebay in a fit of weakness several years ago while I was selling a bunch of stuff that I didn't think I needed anymore.
-
My first LM was a PST bought in mid ‘96. Still have it...
My last LM I bought was a Crunch, used, last year. I still have it...
My favorite LM is my original Wave, bought in mid ‘01. I still have it...

First: Blast
It lives in my EDC backpack that spends most of its time now under the back seat in my truck, there just in case I need to fix my commuter vehicle.
Last: Surge
This is my weekend workhorse. Gets carried on the weekends, especially out at the hunting property. I have it in a RAE Gear sheath and it gets used a lot working on feeders, vehicles, deer stands etc.
Favorite: Skeletool
This is my everyday carry. I have sharpened the blade so many times on crock sticks the serration are nearly gone. I have worn out two sets of screw drive bits and it keeps on going. Best pocket carry multi-tool I have every owned.
-
First: Leatherman rebar / Micra (they came together in the package)
Last: Leatherman Skeletool
Favourite: Leatherman Surge
-
First: Charge
Last: Micra

Great topic :tu:.
- My first Leatherman was an original Supertool (bought in '94, date code "1094").
- My latest Leatherman was a Signal (I just bought two "25th Anniversary" Waves, but they'll only be here tomorrow, if all goes well, so they don't really count yet in my opinion)
- My favorite ... that's a tough one . I would say my orignal Supertool, since that one made the biggest impression on me, but since I don't carry it anymore I feel like I need to pick another one. I can't pick just one, so I'm going to say, my Rebar/ST300, and my Wave/new Surge (I like both the Rebar and the Wave tool setup, and the ST300 and the Surge are just the same, but in size Large, so it depends on where I'm going if I'm going to carry the Medium or Large version of these tools).
-
First : Wingman
Last: Skeletool
Least: Skeletool, I really don't like it.
Favorite: Surge and Wingman tie.
Next: I'd like to try one of the new Charge+ models.
-
First: PST, dated 94 or 95 (can't remember)
Last: Style CS
Favorite: Skeletool slightly edges out the PST.
One I'd buy if they remade it: PST.

First: PST

Fav: PST

My first Leatherman was an early PST when the knife blade looked like an after-thought. I bought it new before the Mini Tool came out.
I have a Mini Tool, Skeletool, an original Wave, an original Surge, a Super Tool 200, 2 new Waves, and multiples of each of the Rebar, Super Tool 300, new Surge, and Charge TTI.
The last Leatherman I bought was one of the Super Tool 300's.
My favorite Leatherman is the Super Tool 300.
-
Hi
First was a Micra bought in the land of the Swiss in 1997. I was on my first visit there and thought I must get a SAK. In the shop there was a display cabinet with a sea of red and 1 small silver item .
The sales guy showed it to me and that was end of that and the start of an addiction.
Favourite is still my '98 Wave .
Latest is the Raptor - just to keep the collection on track and up to date.
TTFN
-
I’ll join this topic  :tu:
First LM- Wave
Last LM- Another Wave
Favorite LM- Currently, the Wave

Might change when I get a Rebar or ST300, though :tu:

This is a fun game.
My first Leatherman was a Pulse. I really liked it and I've carried some LM or another pretty much everyday since then. I lost it after a couple years or so, but it was too late I was and am addicted.
My latest acquisition is a pink (my favorite colour) Micra my son got me for Chirstmas.
My favorite? I simply cannot pick just one! I have to say the Micra because it has by far the most pocket time and use, plus my new one is pink and my son gave it to me, so that's that. But I am most proud of my Flair. Man, that thing is sexy! It took a while to find a good one but I got one NIB! (thanks CeHo!) Then, I really felt the Pulse was pretty perfect. I mean there was no fat on that tool, steel And diamond files, scissors, enough pliers and drivers to get it done with no fluff. I'll also say, some people bemoan the rocker-locks but I don't remember having any trouble after the first little while and I highly enjoyed the fiddle factor. That being said, it has been almost 2 decades since I have used one. I got the next one fairly quickly after the Pulse was lost and while the tool selection was different I didn't notice much of an operational difference. Cut to years later, I get my greasy mitts on an ST300. This thing is built like a tank (comparatively). I always noticed how much the pliers flexed on other tools causing slippage and rounding occasionally, well this was no problem with the ST300! I love this thing so much I now have 3 (same with the Micra)! If could only have one Leatherman (gasp!) it might very well be this tool. But I am a free man and I can have as many as I want, so I pick these 4 as my favorite and there's not a smurfing thing you can do about it. Cheers!
-
First - LM Kick
Latest - Just ordered a LM Surge in BO
Favourite - Hard to say....I loved my Kick, because it just works due to its simplicity, my Charge TTi served my extremely well too, but I hate how it pinched my hand every time I used the pliers. I have been EDC'ing my Custom Rebar for the last 6 month, but I hate how the pliers get stiff every time I squeeze hard on something, so maybe the Surge will be the next contender for the "Favourite" ...only time will tell. :)
-
first was a sidekick
last was a original juice cs2 i picked up at a flea market
favorite .... im going with the original wave picked it up at a flea market for 20 bucks a few years back
-
First was a Rebar last was a skeletool cx favourite probably surge
-
First - Sidekick
Last - PST
Favorite - Charge
Favorite might as well be a toss up, I've been well served by a bunch of mine. Still would love to track down a Blast, feel it could challenge for the top spot given how much I like the feel of my Fuse.
-
Surge md.1 was my first. Since last year i started collecting, refurbishing, selling them, and again.
My favorite is the Flair, i find it cool.
Micra and Squirt shared and share a long time on my key ring.
Tread is one nasty piece of manjewelry that i wear proud as a peacock.
If i have to chose a favorite, than the Surge has to be the One for me altough my custom Charge fits my needs

I only have one Leatherman in the stable at-the-moment; the Wave Plus. But I'd like to add a 'black-out' model too. Possibly a Surge. It'll give me an excuse, to buy another kydex sheath.

First: Original Leatherman Wave (1999)
Last: Wave +
Favorite: still the original wave, its so compact for what it can do. I wish they made a wave lite to go with the Wave +...so you had Original, Wave +, and Surge as size choices.
Cheers,
H.G.

First was a Skeletool CX, last was a PST II to replace my favourite leatherman, the PST II that I lost somewhere back end of last year. Totally OT, my last SAK was Huntsman
-
Only ever had LM Surges. I like it.
-
First was the Rebar & Micra combo for Father’s Day. Which I have gifted to a mate in the USA.
Last MT was the MUT that my (Late) Wife bought me.

Hello!
My first Leatherman was the original Super Tool in the 90's. Yesterday I just bought a Leatherman Wave+; and maybe my favourite is my recently retired "new" Wave that I used for the last 9 years; altought I have one Charge TTI and a Charge ALX that I like a lot. :multi:

First was a Surge, now stolen.
Last was a Skeletool, now EDCed.

Update.
Obviously first hasn't changed; Original Supertool
Favourite still has to be the Pulse.
Last is the Bond.
-
I thought that the very first MT I owned was a Leatherman bought from Home Depot, but I can't remember if it was a PST. And it is possible it was not a Leatherman. So, I am going to begin with what I know for sure:
First: Squirt ES4
Last (for now): SideClip
Favorite: SuperTool
-
First: Leatherman Mini-tool purchased in about 1990 after I got an A in Contracts in law school. Little did I know at the time where that would lead me.
Most recent: Costco-only Leatherman Bolster.
https://www.costco.com/leatherman-bolster-multi-tool-with-nylon-sheath-.product.100763691.html
Favorite? Yikes. That varies from day to day. Rebar, maybe, if I had to pick just one.

Hi,
My first is Fuse - found broken
My Last is Bond
My Favorite : Free T4 :climber:
-
After years ogf buying cheap knock off tools.
I purchased my first real leatherman wave.
Loved it and still love it, but it has its drawbacks.
Later I found a very comfortable leatherman tool. the sidekick.
Comfortable to handle, lighter than the wave, fits nicely into the pocket, I bought several for friends and family.
Again, it has some drawbacks (I hate the serrated blade)
But overall, its about as good as I could ask for in a daily carry.
What other leatherman would I like?
The crunch appeals, but could be bulky.
Other than that, the wave and the sidekick meet my needs.
-
First was a Sidekick in late 2012. Latest was a Curl in August 2021. Favorite was probably my Wave, Wave+, or my original Wave. Although my Curl (modified with saw instead of file) has replaced my Waves for EDC. So I guess my modded Curl is my current favorite Leatherman.
-
Couldn't afford to look at Leathermans as viable options when I was younger. Used to carry $30-$50 Gerbers. When I carried any at all. Then 6 years ago I decided to treat myself to my first. Amazon was running a special on the Surge. It's all history from there lol sooo . . .
First: 2nd gen Surge
Last: my 2nd Crunch
Favorite: 3 way tie between Wave+, Rebar, and Crunch. They all get carried throughout the week.
-
1st.: PST II
Latest: Stainless Steel Signal just-ordered Charge ALX
Favorite: Toss-Up between Rebar and Wave

I've probably answered.
FIRST Wingman.
LAST Squirt E4
FAVORITE What day is it? Most recently its been my Surge again. Very close second is my Crunch. No my Skeletool CX. Wait my Charge TTi.

First: Rev
Last: I dont remember. Whoever I bought from last here
Favorite: Surge. But a close 2nd is my Rev. Its been through more than I expected it to handle.
-
First : Second gen Wave
Last: Micra/Rev/Skeletool package from the bay
Favourite: The Wave. Many MT's later, good amount of money spent - it still looks like the first choice I made was the best. I love all my multi tools, carry them according to the occasion and rotate them just for the fun of it, but the one that suits me the best is still the Wave.

Great topic!
First was the Original wave in 1999, a true masterpiece.
Last one was a group order that Included a Bond, Rebar, and Surge
Favorite: ......Crunch RIP

First: I don't remember. Probably a PST or a PST II.
Last Most recent: a December 2001 Micra and a Kick (they arrived in the same package, thanks to Aloha).
Favorite: if I had to pick one, a Squirt ES4. It got lost in the shuffle of one of my umpteen moves. I miss it dearly, and I'm a little perturbed at the cost of a new (or new-to-me) one.

Very interesting thread and felt a compelling need to participate. Here are mine...
First - Flair, got it with my first paycheck. I remember looking at the wave too but it was more expensive and I had a special connection with the Flair at the store. Must have been all that wine I was imagining opening. I lost it and got a replacement right away and never used it since then.
Last - Bolster. I was surprised to see this and had to come home and Google to make sure Costco is not pulling a fast one.
Favorite - If modded tools are allowed I would go with the Signal with scissors + tooth picks in the whistle. If not allowed, then the Wingman. Not a crowd favorite but works for my needs and relatively cheap to replace when I lose it. Spring loaded pliers is a plus for show and tell with the moms at the McDonald play area.

"Spring loaded pliers is a plus for show and tell with the moms at the McDonald play area."
I wonder how many moms went out and bought a LM either for themselves or the significant others? I used my Wave to help a client and she asked about it. She asked where to get one and said she'd have to pick one up.

My first was a Crater C33T which I lost
My last one was a Skeletool which I really liked but later I felt that the pliers are so small that they are quite task specific instead of being an all around edc at least in my life. My edc tasks for pliers are tougher.
My favourite was a Surge which I ended up selling because I didnt need it that time that much and I thought it was too expensive.
Now that I changed my job and I am also building a house by myself and that Putin is next door to Hungary and I know he’s dreaming about the Soviet Union refurbished when he’s sleeping and I’ve found a seller with great prices, I feel like its time to have one once more and keep it for good this time. :salute:

I'm pretty sure I had a Crater at one time, too. It had a nice blade, a carabineer (which would be useless for me by now), and nothing else. It also got lost in the shuffle of one of my umpteen moves...

First: Wingman, roundabout 2014/2015. Walmart had them on sale when I stopped in on a payday.
I wound up giving it to my then boss. He needed it more than I did. Truth to tell, I really didn't care that much for it.
Last (probably the last. I don't see me getting another in however much time I have left.) and favorite:
Charge TTI.
I traded a antique c.1927 Schrade jack knife, and a Buck 371 stockman for it. 😊
