A bit of Googling and I came up with two materials that are sold under the name cellidor one is: cellulose propionate, the other is: cellusose acetate butyrate. The second seems more likely as one of the quoted uses was as "tool handles". Does that help?

Cellidor sounds a lot like Celery...so he might be covered in that regard as well. :think:
