Title: A useful read
Post by: Smashie on October 18, 2016, 08:38:37 PM
This is a page on the blog of Hodinkee and to be fair is probably one of the better ones I've seen

Watch 101

Quite a bit of good info there  :salute:

Thanks for the link- there's an awful lot there and will take me a while to get through!

It also makes a great reference link!

I'd say you have succeeded with this one for sure.

In fact, I am going to stickie it right now!

Super link Smashie! The basic technology of a lever escapement watch movement driving three time keeping hands is extremely mature. The differences among them are primarily in how they're laid out, and how complications are incorporated. It's very hard to find a tutorial on how a mechanical watch movement works that has sufficiently simple clarity for the newcomer. Thanks to Grant for making this a stickie.
