Otherwise I quite like it. :)

You have to pay extra for that feature?
-
I'm hoping they can just send me a serrated blade. Warranty return is a hassle.
-
They really need to drop their Access line and ramp the PPP, PowerLock and PowerAssist production back up. An outboard tool PowerLock would be great and would be a heck of a lot better than the Access.
Line of failures(relative to the Lock, Assist, PPP, etc) include; PowerPlay, Reactor, PowerGrab, and PowerAccess[& Deluxe].

That's not the cucumber slicer edition?
-
@glbm: I actually like the tool other than this f-up. (Modulo garbage so file and short saw.)
@blackbeard: hahaha
-
Two is one, one is none, right
:D

Awesome you like it overall.
During the Access Deluxe challenge, I enjoyed using it. Not a bad tool in any sense of the word, but not great either. IMHO of course.
-
All kidding aside, I would exchange it if you just got it.
-
That’s SOG for you

Smurf, now I want one for slicing cucumbers.

The PowerAccess Deluxe I ordered last year was such piece of junk that I returned it. Something I had never done before with a SOG. The main blade was thin and wobbly, the "file" was smooth, etc. It just seems like they are shifting their business model to the junky end of the spectrum.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting SOG. Sorry to hear that, that doesn’t sound right. I would recommend getting it back to the point of sale and having them exchange that for you. If they are not able to do that for you. You are more than welcome to send it in to the address below and we can replace the tool for you as well. Unfortunately we do not have spare components for that tool.
Thank you!
Ugh, guess I'll have to send it back to Amazon. Was hoping they could just send me the part. What a hassle.
-
What a rubbish reply, just send the man another.
And as for the no spare components... these tools are still in production!
I would be pissed off.

Ask any of the big companies to send just a blade. They will all more than likely write back something similar. It's not just SOG that has that policy.
Sorry, but I felt that was worth mentioning. :pommel:
-
Totally. I knew it was a low probability of success attempt, but figured I'd try.
I actually emailed with bear and son, and they said they used to send parts but didn't anymore for liability reasons. Bummer.

:iagree:
When the spring on my Surge's scissors broke after only a couple of times cutting nothing else but normal paper I asked Leatherman if they could send me a new spring so I could fix it myself, I got the same reply...
Probably too many people taking advantage from this and the others have to pay the price.
:viking:
However, they did send me the pocketclip for my Free P4 :tu:.
-
I kinda like it. Dull one, use the other. Saves a lot of time and effort.

Couldn't agree with you more, Big Pasta. Same experience, here.
There was a time when I was a SOG fan. Now, I avoid SOG products. Perhaps one day their business model will change, but that would seem to require a real mindset-shift at the highest levels. It's a real shame.
As I think about it, it seems that the quality of most multitools has declined. The exception, as far as I can tell, being Victorinox.
-
^ I just haven't noticed the quality decrease in Leatherman that so many people reference. Tools still seem high-quality to me, with exception of squirt scissors spring.

I wouldn't expect them to send just a blade.
I would expect them to send a replacement MT.
Putting it back onto the customer with no acknowledgement of their stuff up doesn't leave the customer feeling good.

Have to agree with all the negativity
It's hard to believe that SOG brought us the legendary Paladin's, the Sailing tool etc etc
But their current modern range are just utter smurfe. Needless I stay well away these days.
Pity they let themselves go.

In my opinion, they fixed something that wasn't broke. The Paratool, PowerLock, PowerAssist, PowerPlier, Pocket Plier, and Crossgrip/Crosscut are all good tools. Yet, they tried "innovation" and failed, quiet miserably in my opinion. Except for cosmetics, the MP600 platform hasn't changed much, yet still sells really well. Not to mention that they outsourced all these tools late in their lifecycle--as in no longer American made.
Not to mention--SMKW has been trying to clear out Reactors for $20 for more than a year now; and still can't ditch them.

I would be happy if they replaced the useless file with a duplicate blade...
