Title: Who has a SURGE!!!
Post by: Poncho65 on May 31, 2009, 12:14:47 AM: Well while off at another Wal-Mart I found a Surge for $40 bucks :o I just had to pick 1 of these bohemoths up :D Like everybody says this sucker is HUGE :ahhh I didn't realize how much bigger than the Wave it really was :o Now I know why Def said it affects yourn gas mileage :D I know most of you have them but in the tradition of most of my MTs I figured the Surge deserved a who has thread ;) :D

It's not that big. About the same as a Swisstool.
Looks downright petite next to a Swissgrip.

It is quite fat though :D

That's completely wrong! The SURGE is quite a popular tool around here and a few of my buddies have 'em too. At the moment, I have three SS SURGE's, 1 BO, 1 BO with cap crimper, and a CAMO SURGE ON THE WAY!!!

At one point, I had 8 SS SURGE's. :-[ I have had no less than 20 pass through my hands.

And now that I've learned of the existence of the camo version, I've decided I will own one of those sooner or later as well. Though in a sense I don't see the need for extras when the first one has proven indestructible. But then when it comes to the SURGE who wants to be sensible?

I am positively not with Mr Nonads on this :P :P(silly fella set fire to his Surge).

BTW Poncho $40 GREAT pick up mate , I hope you like it half as much as I do :D :D

I believe it is the most capable multitool there is.

Post by: cbee303 on June 03, 2009, 03:02:49 AM: hey guys, i just bought a surge :D, and i have another on the way :) , couldnt resist the deal(steal), $40, six less than the one coming, and i got my boys a lm kick, $13 each, and a blast for $25, wally world didnt let me down, im returning the blast for a Lm h502 Knife, dont know if thats a wise choice but i like knifes , and it costs the same as the blast , i guess ive gone off the lm deep end..

Post by: Poncho65 on June 23, 2009, 03:24:39 AM: Well it's been a few weeks now and I have carried the Surge around some and have found that it's not as heavy as I first thought it might be :D I actually pocket carry it with the clip more than anything :o ;) It is a nice tool to have but I just can't get past carrying my SuperTool :D That said I will carry it on occasion especially if I know I have a heavy duty job that might require that little extra that the Surge has :cheers:

I have both, and I like the Surge better in most respects, but the Charge has the nice Ti Scales.

The Charge have the ALX series, the silver collection. The SURGE only have the SURGE wish they could bring out a limited collection one........... I may not afford it but at least its out there! :D

A TI Surge would be of interest to users as well as collectors, as it would enjoy the same ergonomic advantage over the regular Surge as the Charge does over the Wave.

I was going to pay full price, since I had saved up the money for two weeks and added it to my cart. When I went to check out, the total was $87 w/free shipping. :o
I checked the next morning, so I could post the deal here, but it went to the cart at full price that morning. I usually don't buy from LM's site, because they are higher in price, but they were the only place that had the two tone at the time. Maybe they'll do that deal again in the future! The one I received had no defects, so that was a huge plus as well. :)

That's a TxTC blade. The factory blade was a lemon, so I ditched it instead of sending it in for warranty. Very happy with this one!

I like the saw/file exchanger because i can put a mettal saw in there. But the tool is to big for everyday use. I carry it on my belt when i do longer motorbike trips but i really prefer the Charge.

However, I just keep going back to my ST300. I guess because it was my first decent HD tool, and secondly, fixed drivers with decent reach, and actually designed to use with your gloves on. That and it's still the classic brick format. In cold weather, that's a necessity. But the ST300 doesn't have scissors, unless you mod it.
