Is there any interest in this? The UK meet looks like fun, and there are plenty of campgrounds and places to meet in the US. I would be up for a southeast meet if I could work my schedule around it, somewhere in GA, FL, AL, TN, NC, or SC. We could do like 5 regions or so if there is enough interest.

The UK meet is always fun :drink: :D

All the US members are antisocial i guess. ;)

Lol, flying, a little out of my price range, considering I’d have to buy two round trip tickets since I can’t do anything solo, and as much as the Mrs would like to get the heck out of here, health wise I don’t think she can fly.. besides I think getting an Uber or lyft would cost as much as the ticket, lol..

Georgia would be nice. That's where Danni and I went for our Honey Moon in '96. Beautifull place and great people. All I need is an excuse and we'll be on our way for another visit.

I'm sure this would be fun but I'm typically short on funds and I have a vehicle that I don't trust to drive more than a couple of hours. You can put me on the interested list but I won't commit until the when and where has been worked out.

Seems like GA may be a good state as it is in the middle of the others, but then again this is where I live so i may be biased we could do far north GA, close enough to poncho and pretty much the middle of the SE.

I thought the same thing. I drive to Atlanta once in a while with my buddies to go to Medieval Times. I also have driven non-stop NYC to Alabama many times when I lived there. :ahhh
We could also see if any of us are in between the drive of other members and do some kind of car pool if need be.
Possibly some of us could catch a bus. MegaBus and Greyhound run to ATL from tons of locations. Several of us could then rent a car from ATL to go to North Georgia. Megabus tickets are dirt cheap in the fall too. I've gotten a ticket ATL to MTG for $12 before.
Just some ideas to throw around. :)

Now the difficult part; when would be a good time?
I can take off work most days I want to, so I'm flexible as to when.
How is everyone else's schedule? Maybe there is a place of free time overlap for most of us?

I am fine with doing Spring or even summer! I just will not know my spring schedule for a couple of months. I do know that weekends should be somewhat free.

I would prefer to have a meet when it isn't hot with mosquitoes abound. But, if need be, I could handle a couple of days in the heat. :)

That would be my preference as well but if more people can come in the hot months I am open to it.

Now. How to decide on which MTs to bring to the meet. :ahhh
-
It would definately have to be next year and preferably after school lets out around mid June. Danni is a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science teacher and I won't go to near Georgia with out her. It's just to special a place for the two of us. So for us it's June, July, or August.

Start loading now and maybe you can have that collection ready by June.
-
I'm in South Florida and I'm busy throughout October to the first week in November then I'm going to be free for a few weeks but will then be busy from the end of December through the end of March.

My schedule will theoretically open up after the school year as well, as I’m a college senior and have had a full time job with some flexibility for over three years that I plan on keeping,

I wonder, is it possible, just maybe... naw, don't think so, worth asking, probably should, OK, Ok.
Dose anyone know what effect having all the weight of those two collections in the same place would have on the Earth's axis? :dunno:

There are five members(I know of or suspect) with considerably(or incredibly) larger collections than mine, but some of them don't let on. All the processed steel from transposed iron ore being concentrated in a few places, as MT collections, might pose a risk to the Earth's axis. :D
I do still think GA would be the best place to have a meet, but wouldn't rule out Texas, if need be. I would need to rent a conveyance to get to Texas though, since my vehicle is a POS. :ahhh

Ish.
The Maine Meetup in 2008 consisted of myself, J-Sews, Hawkchucker and JoeBW.
The Maryland Meetup had Mr. Whippy, JZMTL and J-Sews as well, and I think someone else may have shown up, but I wasn't there so I couldn't say.
The Leatherman Factory Tour had J-Sews, MultiMat, Bruce and I can't recall if others went or not.
SHOT '09 in Orlando also had four, but not all at the same time- I was there and so was 665ae, Polish Sumgui and Gator Johnny.
There may be others, I am surprised I remembered that many! :ahhh

I have made this drive so many times now that it just feels like a quickie now, maybe not the best way to think of it but since I have to be there anyway a few times a year it seems?
Anyway I think we are lucky to have such free open countryside to play in and I try to look at it that way when I need to too!
There was also an Ironman Triathalon this weekend down there and lets just say the scenery was pretty nice if you like Spandex clad fit Women sweating?

Nashville is a good in between spot for us a little farther North.

I just want to make sure everyone knows about the Megabus. Their tickets are pretty cheap and with a transfer or two, they will end up where you need. :)
-
I'm in north Alabama. North Ga is not too far away.

Yep. I noticed you list Bear and Sons as one of your collections. :tu:
I don't have any yet, but I've been looking at them since I found out they're made in Alabama.

Cool! Bear & Sons are one of the last brand named MTs that have that 'hand-finished' look and slightly crude (but in a charming way) feel. The MTs are tough as hell and work well. The Super Bear Jaws has one of the best plier heads of any MT maker. Their customer service is great too. I have about ten of their MTs and a bunch of their knives. :)
I can bring some Bear MTs whenever we have the SE meetup.

if you can bear the entire load of tools and the weight, instead of bringing just one to cover the bear necessities and basics
that sounds like a good way to let other members see and feel them in hand, :salute: and possibly try them out :tu:

:like: good one, TP!
Though, I can bearly bear it anymore and need to find my bearings to bear oke

Bear is a cool company that was briefly owned by Victorinox (Ken Griffey tells a wonderful story of how he chased the Swiss out of Alabama to gloriously reclaim Bear) and before that they manufactured components for Leatherman. Further, there is an unconfirmed story (also from the Big Bear) about how when they launched the Bear Jaws and Tim Leatherman saw the reversed handles and outside opening tools he turned to then-designer Ben Rivera and asked "Why didn't you think of that?"
Pointless info, but fun nonetheless. :D
I love Bear tools. I just wish the folks at Bear Cutlery did as well.

Like I said, my schedule is pretty flexible, since I can take a couple of days off when need be. It's the rest of y'all that need to come up with a time/date. :D

This fool could probably make it if it was the in southeast, and spring or summer. I would have to know far enough in advance to get off work. South Carolina here.

Yeahhhh man! I am hoping we can get a meet together. Those U.K. fellas are having too much fun. :ahhh

Looks like this was mostly being talked about over a year ago...
Did anything ever get worked out?
I'd be interested in a US meet up in the SouthWest area. Not sure how many other members are anywhere near this part of the country.
-
I'd love to attend a meet-up/GTG. I'd be more interested in SAKs than multitools, but if it were in the neighborhood I'd attend either. But you're in the SW, King Gorilla, and I'm in the Great Lakes basin.... Meet in Nebraska maybe? ;)

Realizing the age of this thread...still, another from South Carolina.
