I cant seem to find this product anywhere. Did burktek fold?
-
They have a website on line http://www.burktek.com/pocketwrench-ii/
Amazon has what appears to be a knock off for only $8 https://www.amazon.com/Pocket-Wrench-Stainless-Standard-Screwdriver/dp/B01G5EZ0KY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1541862423&sr=8-3&keywords=pocket+wrench+ii
Walmart has the real thing (out of stock) listed for $1,500 :ahhh https://www.walmart.com/ip/Burktek-Pocket-Wrench-II/394677241?adid=22222222254418684945&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=b&wl1=s&wl2=c&wl3=291938340609&wl4=dsa-504748227745&wl5=9014946&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&veh=sem&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsL_JhY7K3gIVAsRkCh1wDgu0EAAYAiAAEgIypfD_BwE

Their website hasnt been updated for years it seems

I had to contact them to order mine with their locking custom bit set. I have it around somewhere. Never used it as I ended up buying a bunch from Lee Valley as I got the impression from Burketek that there were not going to make more.
If you can’t find the original online maybe check out the Ti EDC Wrench at Kickstarter. Though I think it’s too much money.
Not sure about that Amazon knock off, I did consider it but decided I didn’t trust those folks to get the tolerances right.
Good luck my friend.
-
You can get a Chinese knockoff for a few $. The two I got are perfectly fine. The whole point of this design is that tolerances don't come in to play much. That is the reason it works on pretty much any nut/bolt that fits in. :D
-
I got two Burktek ones. As soon as I saw no bottle opener on it I was sold! :like:

I wonder about those "locking custom bits". I know I can use the bits that come in Chapman sets on my PWII and they lock as well.
-
They work. But I’m sure any good quality ones will do. You can make do with any bit even the Leatherman bit but you’ll need to apply pressure to make sure it doesn’t slide out.

Any clue on where to get a tool like this nowadays?
charles.

Sadly, AFAIK they are out of production, even as Chinese knockoffs. Used ones do show up on the 'bay from time to time.
Another alternative is to look at other OPMTs. LM, for example, makes some.

Keep an eye out on eBay. I was able to finally get one last week. Should be here today or tomorrow. :woohoo:

That is awesome, Steve :like: Congrats
-
Lost mine in a mud puddle last winter
-
:ahhh :ahhh :ahhh
Now some lucky mud puddle has one and I still don't  :D
Sorry to hear it, Nick
-
I wish Leatherman bought the rights for it.

Right?
Still hurts a little...

That's why we say two is one, one is none if the puddle takes one :fugly:
I still have six or seven or so left, a few knock offs and the original in most if not all variations, even the infamous BO one :D

Weeeeeell,
CeHo gifted me a BO one last year, which is still here.
But no chance in hell I'll risk loosing that one in a puddle on the jobsite :dwts:
EDIT: the top one, chromed "Latshaw".
The one I lost was one of those :(
-
The BO ones were available from a Swiss site a few years back along with a few new old stock red alox old cross pioneers and farmers if I remember correctly.
-
:sa:
-
Guess I was lucky to get one of the clones when I did.
-
Those look awesome, enki :ahhh
I believe that , Steve got the BO one as well :like:
-
I think there was a 4th original variation too at some point, but David would know better, I think between us we have the complete collection. ;)
-
Yes, I would say so  I know David went after them pretty hard several years ago :tu: I wished I had been smart enough to get 1 or 3 back then  :D
-
So Chinese knockoffs made production of original too costly. But what killed the knockoffs? Corona?
This is a grave loss for mankind... :ahhh
:D

I should have added that the stainless PW2 is the one that has a permanent place in my wallet.
-
That's not a PW2, THAT'S THE ORIGINAL :2tu:

Yes, the top one is the original PW (though sadly not in great condition), but the middle one (the stainless PW2) is the one I actually carry.
-
Could Syph007 make a Titanium version?
-
I've got the McFeely's PW II. Sits alongside my LM Wave flat bits in the LM pouch with the Wave.

Sorry for the Necro posting...
I stumbled across a scam website that is "selling" Pocketwrenches, and they stole Steve's photo for the pic:

Well at least they chose a great pic  but sad that they are trying to scam people with it
