Title: Lynnwood and Edmonds production information?
Post by: gerleatherberman on December 02, 2018, 08:27:05 AM
Recently I have been curious about something. My PowerPliers and PocketPowerPliers are mostly marked Lynnwood, WA. But, there is a PPP marked Edmonds, WA.
I have searched for some info, but have arrived at no definite conclusion. :dunno:

Does anyone know the storyline for the switch from one to the other?

The Edmonds version has pat. pend., less defined stamping, dull finish(not washed or high polished) and what I think are the earlier SOG implements. Although, as we know with SOG, they switched tool versions all over the place back then. Note: these are both close-to unused(if used at all), so I do not believe there has been any tool swapping with these two. The only modification I did was to swap the plastic washers to metal ones, because they were cracked or discolored badly from age/dry-rot. Order and placement are the same as received.
Here is a photo of the two PPPs.

And an extra group pic for fun. :)

So no dice on the transition?

I'll email SOG later, but they are usually terrible about knowing their own company history.

I would venture a guess that they either moved factories around that time or had/have more than one

Thanks for the reply, Poncho!

Maybe SOG will have an answer. But, if not, it is neat to have a PPP made outside of Lynnwood. :)
