Hmm. Good idea Allan.

Of all the ones I took, these are two of my favourites I think:

or this one:

They just sort of came out the way I wanted :)

The first actually made a small tool look scary and the second one.. well, you know, availability  ;)

Now that I'm sober, I can see that you said post "your favourite pic" too, as in singular Allan. Although you posted two, so that makes me feel a bit better :D

I actually had a quite good plan with this thread, :D but let's just fill it up with nice MT pics and try to figure out what to do with it...

There's a photoshopped version of it around somewhere with the black background evened out - but this is the raw picture. It was my wallpaper for a while, and I always preferred it to the Bear one that's in my avatar. :)

Multitools are Plierbased...  :pok:
SAKs are just... you know... a pocket knife...  :P

Yeah - it's quite old I think. I've had a few more since then....

In fact - just found the original - 22nd Feb 2009. So nearly a year old!

What do you mean SAKs aren't MTs?  :twak:

We haven't had this argument for a while. Yay :D

surely a multi-tool is just something with... you know... multiple tools....

which isn't limited to multi-pliers, otherwise, what is the micra?

what is the micra?
Not a pocket knife...  :D (Pocket-Tool..?)

Okay, Plierbased wasn't the best description but from my point of view you collect SAKs and/or Multitools...  :)
But maybe that's just me..  ;)
Title: Re: Best Multitool Pic Of 2009..?

I think that is just you. :D

A multi-tool is a hand held tool that contains multiple functions therein, often times in a small form factor that is easy to carry, but not always.

Do you not consider these multi-tools?

I do. I consider a Dremel as another example of a multi-tool.

You were vague in your first posting. You should have said only Leatherman style based MTs need only apply. :D

Yay this old argument!  :D  (Beats the Vic vs LM debate I suppose  :D).

We all know that the only intelligent way to classify stuff is with my way  :angel:;

SAK's - Anything made by Vic or Wenger in either the "traditional" SAK set up, or any of their OH lines.
Folders - Any folding knives that contain blades and blades only (Wenger or Vic knives with blades only are still SAK's).
Fixed blades - Any fixed bladed knife.
MT's - Any tool with more than one function that doesn't fit into any of the above.

Therefore, AHB was correct, a SAK is not a MT, it is a SAK which has it's own catergory.  :D

Would anyone disagree if we locked this thread and tried once again..??

What about a new MultiTool thread with a 2 pics limit, where we post one of our own pictures and one from a fellow member, with a short description why
we chose those pics...?

This should leave us with the "Top Of The Pops"..  :tu:

Yes and no. What if everyone submitted a photo that haven’t been publish here before and everyone chooses a photo from another forum member that have been published. Then we could have 2 poles!

Edit: Just saw what Allan wrote and then thought "Greate minds think a like"

I like Allan's idea personally - one of your own (optional in case you're crap like Ben, or if you've lost your cable like Mike  :P), and / or one of someone else's. So one pic from each category. It's a "best of 2009" idea, so should be chosen from those published here on the forum already, during 2009.

That should ensure that any pic that anyone cares about gets represented, then Allan can bring it together for voting, which I think is what he was after doing.

That would be fun I reckon!

I was under the impression that that's what the thread was...go hunt down your favorite posted picture of a MT on the forum and link to it or repost it.  I've been searching all day for mine.  :)  If you wanted to make it a bit simpler Allan, you could always say "Favorite pic from 2009 from the Great MT Picture thread or the Supermacro thread"  that would significantly narrow it down.  That's where I was searching anyway. :D

Well, I took it that any tool that got it's picture in one of those two threads in particular were fair game which included any SAK's or keychain/one piece tools.  Okay...I'm off to search.  :D
