Is there some setting or link that lets you go to the first unread post in a thread?
I know with vbulliten based forums there is a View First Unread link at the top of the thread.
Is there a simular thing with SMF?
P.S. I wonder if the folks that wrote the forum software are Twisted Sister fans.....

If there is I haven't found it yet. :( Seems like it would be a handy feature though.

Just click on the "new" icon by the thread name... ::)

What he said....you do have to be either viewing "Unread Posts Since Last Visit" or viewing that bit of the forum to get to the link though :)

Blimey I never knew that either, how did I manage before? ???

:o I have no idea!!
My forum reading technique:
Unread Posts > Open each "new" button in a new tab > settle back with fingers on CTRL+F4 > read all the crap Ben and Mike post :D

It's a great feature. Saves a lot of messing around.

:tu: I've been trying to work out a way to automate the process for me, i know its possible (using one of the various scripting extensions for FF) but i've not had time to figure out the various programming techniques for one of them :-\

CTRL+W also does the same thing (close tab).

It's only taken me 7 months but I have the technology!!! Using this https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/11759 Firefox extension and setting it up to ctrl click on every new post button on the page with just one keyboard shortcut 8) Being this lazy takes a lot of effort you know! :D

That is quite brilliant though Ryan. You are
a total waster totally wasted around here.

Thanks :D I started with it doing it automatically so it ran without any user input needed, but i realised that it wasn't the greatest idea as if i don't have time to read all the tabs that it opens (and it also take a few seconds to open all 20 tabs and load them!) then all the posts would be marked as read and if i wanted to carry on reading on my laptop (or desktop) then i would have to find the posts manually. So i set it up to work on a shortcut and i'm pretty happy with how it works :)
