you know I've had this thing for at least 10 years and forget I have it (I'm sure you tool nuts know what I mean).
I got it for free at work (trade show) and they even gave me some adapter sockets to go with it (darn nice people)
-
it's a nut driver, socket handle, pry bar, ruler, and I've even used it for a standard screw driver once or twice!
-
Lately it's been in a b.o.b. but I've been looking at mini pry-bars and forgot I had one!
here it is next to a farmer and OHT;
-
it's a real handy tool and I think I'll find a way to carry it more.
I've seen some generic ones online and I think Kershaw still makes them too.
-
Is this cute tool still avalailable now?
-

Open any bottles with it? :drink:
-
here's one site for it; http://aslanrefuge.org/knives/bob/tool/pocketwrench_ii.html
I'd suggest a search. I'm pretty sure I've seen some generic versions of it (different company)
I've never tried a bottle! now I have too :D
-
Very nice & solid tool,I carry mine in my LM fuse leather sheath, comes in real handy at times.

Thats pretty neat. Only I think it says Latshaw instead of Kershaw.

You can buy a PocketWrench II for $9.95 (US) from McFeely's (http://www.mcfeelys.com/product/PW-1000/PocketWrench-II).
-
I think I bought my original 'pocketwrench' made in USA stainless version either in the late '80s or early '90s. I got a Latshaw chrome plated Taiwan version a couple of years ago off ebay. The older one has pried open many a paint can, the newer one's been in my truck console since I got it, unused, but there if I need it.

That looks like one of those simple tools that is just really handy. I'll bet it would fit nicely in the bit pocket of a Charge style sheath! :D

-
They do look like a handy ''get you home'' tool :)
-
yeah I was thinking it would be a nice add-on to a MT or blade. Either piggy back/dedicated sheath connected
to a larger sheath or if it can fit inside and share a sheath. problem is it's metal and could rub/scratch the other tool.
I'll have to investigate now! ;)
-
One of my sheaths has a nice pocket, my Scrapper6 nylon sheath. so I tried it out;
-
and, "Ta Taaah!"
-
it's pretty nice set-up but like I said they will scratch each
other up in time, but who cares, their not safe-queens!
-
i donno if this is any collectible or something but i have this one still in the package,i bought it 96-98,i just cant remember :ahhh.

I have one of those, but it sits in my toolbox unused. Does anyone know what the original one looks like?
-
original, atleast, doesnt have measurement markings at all on its sides.
-
pretty nice there tarro, some guys wanted one here!
-
Wenger has a wrench on some of its SAKs that is similar, but a bit smaller.
It is on the S557, the Motorist, the Large Mountain Bike, the S54, and the Tool Chest Plus.

Precisely. I just received a PocketWrench II from my brother today as a stocking stuffer and he mentioned that it would fit nicely in a Charge sheath...

That thing looks pretty spiffy. I might have to pick one up to put in my bag (<3 Jansport...I swear, my backpack's lasted me 8 years now). Sears carries them, yes?
-
They're a cool tool 8) and as I found out, impossible to get in the UK :(
Its a good job Alexei's (ufox9al) such a top bloke. He grabbed me one from Lee Valley and popped it in the post :tu:

my new 2 pocketwrenchtool!
Nice!
As I mentioned in another thread, my wife was "hiding" this blackout version of the Chrome Vanadium PWII in a long forgotten toolbox in the garage. :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

Now it rests in a climate controlled drawer next to my EDC stainless steel PWII

I've got a few questions about these if someone would be kind enough to answer, that would be great.
I've seen the ones marked "Latshaw" on ebay, looks like they're made in Taiwan. Can someone who has both comment on the differences in quality, usability, etc?
I've been considering getting a Pirhana, how do they compare with the Pocketwrench II?
What other bits (Leatherman, Gerber, Victorinox) fit in the Pocketwrench?
-
I really need to replace my pocketwrench 2.
I used my old one a bunch.
its a great cheap tool.
-
other pictures!
-
some others!
-
and again! the comparison beteween the pocket wrenchtool II and the pocket widgy pry bar!

The Piranha is more versatile tool. I use the "jaws for pulling massive staples (like electricians use). The wrenches are of a different design so that they fit the flats of SAE (open wrench) and metric (closed wrench). The Piranha also has a bottle opener.
The PWII uses sharp "teeth" to bite into the nut, giving the wrench purchase. The PWII is great for rusted or damaged nuts, but if you have a chrome plated finish nut, the PWII will damage it.
Both do their jobs well, but Piranha does more jobs (and is also more expensive).

Love the black one... glad it got unhidden :D

Her's my setup , Spirit X , Leatherman bit driver ( mounts on the Spirit's phillips ) , and plain old 1/4" hex bits . I usually wear the pouch horizontal , with the bit wallet dropped into an adjascent pocket .

Nice setup. What sheath is that? Self-made?
-
Both the sheath and bit wallet are home made . The sheath can be either vert. or horiz. The pouch part is ruff out , stands up to inevitable jobsite scratches better .

Nicely done, sir!

The Latshaw PW II were made in the USA and Taiwan. The USA made ones were made with chrome Vanadium and stainless and marked as to the steel used. The Taiwan model is not marked with the steel used and is not as good of quality workmanship as the others. Although it is highy polished and therefore very shiny. :D
-
I just got mine a couple days ago, I really should take some pics of it living happily with the rest of me EDC.

I agree. :D Very shiny but when I got my Taiwan made model I first thought it was a knockoff. Had to check here first. ;) Here it is next to the US stainless version. (yea, I know, I need to clean it up a bit. )

Does the Taiwan version even work nearly as well? The teeth on it look a lot smaller and straight up round compared to the shark's tooth daggers the USA version has.

Yes, the US one has more aggressive directional teeth. The ones on the TW version are more rounded due to the coating. They both work good on larger nuts (16mm is the largest I believe) but the TW version does tend to slip more on the smaller ones.

I have one of the US-made stainless ones. It rides in my wallet, and has earned its keep on more than one occasion. Perhaps most significantly, I once used it to pry open my trunk (which wasn't locked but was frozen shut) so that I could get to my jumper cables.

Welcome to the forum.
And an excellent use of the PW2. :salute:

Thank you, sir. I recognize a number of the members here from other forums I have frequented, so I feel right at home.
