am I the lone participant at this point? It's not October yet. :P
As previously stated, I'm in if we add a Jack O'lantern requirement. 🎃
Someone must have been listening in on this thread ...
am I the lone participant at this point? It's not October yet. :P
This would be dangerous for me. If I carried a Spirit that much, there would be a real risk of me realising I could easily sell everything else I own :D
Hmm... I am considering joining but would like some clarification, possibly also for the benefit of others: my modest counting powers make this a 31-day challenge...?
I'm in...so....maybe I should read what the challenge en tales ?
This challenge will be run using standard challenge rules, enriched for goodness:
1. Carry a Spirit for 30-days. It doesn’t have to be the same Spirit everyday, but it has to be a real Victorinox Spirit. Modded Spirits welcome. Cheap copies, not so much.
2. Try to use every tool in the Spirit’s ample tool set at least once.
3. Post a fresh photo of your Spirit every day. Action photos appreciated.
4. Post up insights, memories, and Spirit stories as you are able.
5. A final summary at the end of the challenge is always appreciated. How does the Spirit stack up against your beloved Wave or Rebar or MP600 or…… paper clip? Give the MTo community an honest and frank assessment. Did the Spirit live up to it’s popular reputation?
The challenge starts 01 October 2018, local time, and will wrap up 31 October 2018.
That's the Spirit! :ahhh

Can I play too ? Does it mean I can’t carry any folder or SAK , nor a disposable blade utility knife , or industry specific F/B tools ?Idea of this challenge is to use Spirit much as possible and use it before other tools.
Best Regards

as Pacu said but we can simply this even further - carry everything and anything you desire with the Spirit, just don't forget to give it that fair share of work

Well the Spirit is very tempting but I already have a Gerber MP600 and the Leatherman Rebar??? that my son bought me for Christmas 2 years ago. He’s not a Gerber fan at all.

Here's mine!
 If only it were such Phil. It belongs to my son, who is away in the service :D. I might make him an offer, because this tool is gorgeous!

I have a couple of Spirits I must admit and agree they're the bees knees. And this challenge has nudged me into a drop point addition to the collection which arrived today
What happened to all the excitement and warm ups? :dunno:
We start in just 2 days and I AM SO READY to be using a Swisstool again. :woohoo: :woohoo:
Was your Spirit on an a/c unit? Looks like a Rudd or Rheem
I'm ready. Are we starting in here like the Wave thread or will it be started as a separate posting?

I see swisstools more often for sell than Spirits. Nice to see a few in a pic together. :salute:
So Mechy are you in?
And for those wandering, lets keep MTo clean and put the pics of our days here. Should help the mods out too, I hope

I wouldn't think so. Just keep your daily photo posts clearly labelled, and post a couple of make up days on the November end of the challenge and you should be good. Might be a good idea to send Zoidberg a few Jaffa cakes to make up for the inconvenience and confusion.

Day 01 :
Off to a fine start.
This morning I used the awl to improve the air flow in a disposable coffee cup lid--the coffee turned out to be more trick than treat.... :( But the awl was great!
Then the postman brought me a new camo/blaze orange bucket hat for use in the woods during gun season:
Today is an example of why the awl, scissors, and knife continue to be my three favorite tools in any multitool. :tu:
I wish the Spirit could teach me how to shrink images from my IPad mini camera , so i wouldn’t have to use a very old Olumpus digital camera as a go between . I have Tapatalk , but being a techno peasant in some areas , haven’t figured out how to do that yet .
Best Regards ,
Chris
Bummer, Styx... :(
Somewhere I was taught to make a doughnut cushion to take pressure off the blister. Like this:
I think there are some fancier 'gel pad' products now that incorporate a 'doughnut cushion.' I haven't tried that, but they sound nice.....
The basic idea is to relieve the pressure and friction on the spot that is blistered. If the blister is broken, be sure to clean it well. An open wound in a warm and sweaty shoe is a recipe for a foot infection. Not a good idea.
Quick healing!
(p.s. The Spirit's scissors would be ideal for making such a blister doughnut cushion.)
Day 2/30
I had most boring day at work today, i used Spirits blade to carve and slice my lunch banana

Had to reset the time on my watch too...fingers just aren't nimble enough to get the pin  Used the blade to open food for our sheepdogs! I'm liking this tool!
Nice shot, Douglas!
Great uses, Barry. :tu: The Spirit really is an excellent tool. Every time I carry it, I wonder why I carry anything else.....
I will say that for the first time, just last night, I had trouble deploying the main blade.
My finger nails are short. After doing a lot of dish washing, they were also soft. The combination of short and soft meant that I couldn't get enough purchase on the nail nick to deploy the main blade. As I said, that's a first, but a bit concerning as we move into weather where gloves will be worn more. :-\
DAY TWO "BOO!"(https://i.imgur.com/OIKjK3ah.jpg)
Day 2 bonus pic of an important test, carried out very well: day off tomorrow
Day 02 :I’ve been thinking of making something very similar to yours. I was thinking about it because I have one for my J frame S&W and it works great!
I find the Spirit so easy to carry in the pocket, I doubt I'll do any belt sheath carry. For this challenge, I dug out my pocket caddy. It's designed for a Buck 110, so the Spirit sinks down in the pocket a bit far. You could say it is a Buck 110 costume for my Spirit.
Nevertheless, it works nicely and I'm interested how the caddy does with regular and prolonged use. So, I'll keep using this one for the challenge:

Day 3:I like that usage. I didn’t know we had a shaving section! :like:
I had mentioned in the shaving thread (https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,31735.msg1783837.html#msg1783837) that I had recently acquired a new to me Gillette super speed razor from the '40's
Well, I noticed that the crimp groove was a little wonky looking after fixing the dropped knob issue using the pipe cutter with a washer trick. So, I had come across another method where a binder clip handle is used, and I thought that may fit the groove better and allow me to make it look smooth again.
I used the spirits pliers to squeeze the binder clip wire while I turned the razor handle.
I'm happy to report that it was successful!

Nope, 36 in a 30 zone so should be ok to just do the speed awareness course.

Day 03 :
I think this photo will require a bit of explanation........
This is my favorite way to carry a bit of TP (Loo paper, for the UK crowd) when camping, hiking, anything-in-the-outdoors. When nature calls, I like to be ready to answer.
Technique:
1. Take a roll of your comfiest TP (I like a roll that's been used up a bit to save space in a pack) and throw a wrap of duct tape or gaffer's tape around the outside. (I usually use hi-vis red duct tape, but that appears to have been used up.)
2. Using a pair of scissors, snip the inner cardboard tube all the way down it's length. In this case, with the Vic's scissors, I had to cut half-way down from each end.
3. Carefully roll up the inner cardboard tube and remove.
4. Flatten the 'roll' and store in a plastic bag to keep dry.
I've been using this technique for decades. It's an easy way to be keep your outdoors hygiene products clean and organized. By removing the inner roll and flattening the whole thing, you save space. To use: just pull some tissue from the center. Easy, even in a woodsman's squat.
MTo'ers, be prepared! :tu:
Here I am!Day 1
Today I've received my new and one and only Spirit X ... and I love it :like:
It was dripping oil but after an hour of continuous wiping it clean it wasn't that slippery anymore and I had fun trying out the wire cutters, scissors and wire stripper.
The scissors cut very well and precise. But yes, they're a tad short maybe.
And the pliers could open a bit wider maybe.
But I like their ergonomics a lot.
After that it accompanied me on my weekly bike tour.
Wera ratchet?
Wera ratchet?
Yes Sir , it handles Leatherman and regular 1/4” hex bits , quite well . It also likes the Leatherman bit extender , which in the picture , has a 1/4” hex to 1/4” drive adaptor .

Day 3
quiet day for the spirit, fixed my pocket clip on flashlight to be a bit tighter.

Way to go and Happy Thanksgiving Chris!
Day 4
Lots of uses today but only managed to get one picture!
Using the file to deburr a shaft, excellent job it did too :tu: if only one side was diamond coated it would be perfect
That looked like some MRE peanut butter.

My Spirit and Swisstool have both done that job more times than the three of us together could count. I do agree about the diamond side as well.
Great uses and picks everyone.
Day 4
The Spirit helped Mod my 4" Bacho Spanner Wrench from only 1/2" opening to 9/16" opening. :woohoo:

Day 4.
So this was a happy accident. I read you can extend the arms on the scissors to open it up all be way, by popping them off the spring, and then you’re able to sharpen them. Well when I tried it, and when I went to put the arm back on the spring, I accidentally bent the spring. So now my scissors open this far. Work perfectly, and close just fine.
ABSOLUTELY!The Spirit helped Mod my 4" Bacho Spanner Wrench from only 1/2" opening to 9/16" opening. :woohoo:
Cool mod Doug :tu:
Do you think it is solid enough at that wide opening then?
This is the third one of these I've made this mod on and never had a issue.
That being said, you do still need to realize it is only a 100mm wrench.
Glamour shot with my son's New Handyman!Lucky son! :like:
Nice work everyone :like: :tu:
Day 3
It was a long office day again.
Only used the Spirit when I was back home, to open a letter.
I really like that PE blade of the Spirit :tu:
Day 5
Used the pliers to fit a split pin in a coupling, I quite like the slightly blunt nose of the pliers, they seem to have more strength than the needle nose Leatherman type when performing any twisting action, and I like the fine serrations!
Day 05 :Great photo’s! Not surprised that the tree is still growing after it broke...life will always find a way!
I was out in the hills today with my hunting buddy. We were scouting a new location for hunting elk. Naturally it ended up being more like a 10 mile hike with a few distractions along the way.
We ended up climbing a 7000' hill with a nice view of the countryside:

Near the top we came across this remarkable tree:

No uses for the Spirit while out in the woods, but, after returning home fairly exhausted, the Spirit went to work raising spirits......

Very nice blade , slices well , and a snap to sharpen , love it ! I also like the wire stripper/chisel tool . Not to mention the overbuilt bottle opener , that doubles for light duty prying .
A lot to like on the Spirit X !

No uses for the Spirit while out in the woods, but, after returning home fairly exhausted, the Spirit went to work raising spirits......

Day 3
It was a long office day again.
Only used the Spirit when I was back home, to open a letter.
I really like that PE blade of the Spirit :tu:
Very nice blade , slices well , and a snap to sharpen , love it ! I also like the wire stripper/chisel tool . Not to mention the overbuilt bottle opener , that doubles for light duty prying .
A lot to like on the Spirit X !
Best Regards ,
Chris
:iagree:
And I like your letter pouches Chris :like:
Btw, I've tried the LM bit driver as you use it on the Spirit. And I think it only holds on to the very tip/end of the Phillips which is not ideal.
So I have an idea for Christmas I guess (Victorinox bit wrench).
Oh, that reminds me... I'll have a look at the LM removable bit driver I've once modified to fit the Wave and Rebar. To be continued later today...

I cheat , and put a wrap of insulation tape around the phillips . If you can find one , they aren’t made anymore , the Old Skool Leathetman Universal Tool Adaptor fits perfectly on both the Spirit and Swisstool . I also use the Wera ratchet and the bit extender a lot , if I need real torque . You could also put in a thin piece of brass shimstock , a piece of Coke can also works , or even a piece of plastic from a take out coffee cup lid . I also have padlock shims in my pocket lockpick set . I would very much like to find another Leatherman Universal Tool Adaptor again .
Best Regards,
Chris

Yes, exactly. I had 2 old style ones and modded one of them to fit the Wave. :tu:
Fits like a glove onto the Spirit too (see arrow)...
Day 6 clearing pathways in the reed bed. Spirit on hand to fettle my brush cutter.
There are quite a few toppled trees recycling themselves in the fen.

What kind of pathways would that be Bill?
Bike trails? I like going x-country :tu:
Day 06 :
My honey and I went out for a Saturday doughnut date. It's an October challenge, so naturally I used the Spirit to carve up a Pumpkin doughnut:

It's a local shoot Matt. Just paths but with plenty of streams as there's a spring too
Great pics everyone! Used the Spirit to get an inflation needle from a tire pump.
That last bit is intriguing Matt, if only for the question why you had to modify it to fit the Rebar - or do you mean it also fits a stock Wave?
Sorry, I've used the wrong term. I meant the discontinued Leatherman Tool Adapter.
I made it fit the Wave.
I'll see if it works with the Spirit and will post some pics later on.
More Day 06 action:That is nice looking, but I’m willing to bet it tastes way better!
Used the Spirit's scissors to help out with a sewing project. These scissors are workin' for me.
Then it was time to score some bread dough prior to baking. I don't have a lame and usually use a sharp, sharp, sharp paring knife to score the loaf, the Spirit filled in, in this case, since we're in a challenge. I have to say, coming off the Wave challenge, the LM Wave did this same task a little bit more easily. Nevertheless, the results were satisfactory.
Just ask Mrs Nix. :D

Day 7
Sawing today!..... No complaints :tu:
Yummm... getting hungry over here.
Over where?
See the Day 7 pic below. Beauty and scenery pic only. Those who recognise where this was taken will know why I won't be carrying the Spirit around today, nor in the next couple of days. Sadly, the hotel room does not appear to need any repairs, but maybe I'll take things apart just for fun :)
Wembley?Yup :tu:

True, but it's more of a #2 Phillips.
Awl the more reason to have a smaller 2-d driver that can open #1 Phillips'? :dunno: (Sorry for awl the puns.)

Getting started
Dad to the rescue! Well done! :tu:Day 5
Our son's scooter needed some service :D
The Spirits pliers did a great job.
I think for this task the finer tooth pattern was ideal :tu:
I've used "another Swiss Tool" to bend back the springs mounting on the other end...

Day 07 :
Spent some time this morning finishing up a small sewing project for Mrs Nix. Scissors came in handy for snipping bits of thread.
In a momentary lapse of attention, I broke a needle. Large driver was perfect for extracting and replacing the broken remains with a new needle.
After one week in the challenge, I think I've used the scissors about 12 times. Other tools have been used once or maybe twice at the most. The knife blade I've used....maybe 4 times.

The Pliers Wrench is another great tool. I keep both because there are a few places where the spanner fits better than the pliers wrench. Not really. The first good snow storm usually happens in September, so things are a bit delayed this year. But it's a start; and better late than never!

During the September Storm Wave Challenge I carried my Wave with the belt clip and Leatherman did their clip right. The Wave was easy to carry in the pocket with the clip but was a little large sometimes. The Spirit on the other hand just all but vanishes carried like this. I also have stared putting my Zebra Light in my back pocket using its clip. I keep finding myself panicking because I've carried a MT & Flash light in a pouch on my belt for the better part of 20 years. Just to end up laughing at myself when I realize everything is ok. I wish Vic had a clip design for the Spirit. The Hip Clip is a wondefull alternative it's just not as classy an option as the Wave Clip....
Day 9
Not the prettiest mod for a Spirit XBS but I'm loving the Night ize Hip Clip.
Hmm. You got me thinking now. I imagine the silver tools in the XBS make up for this somewhat, but I've thought the same (not pretty) about adding a Hip Clip to my all-black Spirit.
But on the other hand, what's to stop me from buying a silver Spirit plus a Hip Clip (apart from the obvious fact that I already have a black Spirit)?  :ahhh
The temptation... the temptation... need to RESIST...
I blame Douglas! :twak:

Day 11 :
A fun day today. A buddy and I went looking for elk up in the mountains. It snowed a couple days ago, and we hoped that the snow would reveal where the elk were hiding.
Once again we drove up a jeep trail and then found a 'trail' back up into the mountains:
A cold day, with occasional flurries. I was dressed fairly lightly, but still worked up a sweat climbing up these little mountains:
While hiking, I felt pretty good, but when we stopped for a while, the cold wind chilled me down quickly.
We found a lot of tracks, mostly deer, fox, coyote, rabbit, and squirrel. Some field mouse tracks, too. Eventually we did find a solitary elk track, but there was no other sign of elk in this area. We were both pretty surprised not to find more elk sign here.
As a scouting trip we were a bit disappointed. But as a nice day hike, it was great. It's hard not to feel grateful when I get to spend a day up in the mountains, even a cold day, with views like this:

Yeah mine has the filters as well. I’m missing the diffuser one though, just have the white blue and red. Also have a Chinese made led version, but I like this one a lot more. I changed out the bulb from the regular halogen one to an led. It’s about 175-200 lumens. Not the brightest at all, but very usable especially for walks around the neighborhood. Also use a D shell with a single AA battery with them. So it’s a lot lighter.

Got a lot of use today using the Spirit and Plus wrench to assemble my sons crib. The long Phillips driver was great to have in some deep sunken screws. And the wrench w/hex bit was a lot more useful than the wimpy hex key they sent with the crib. Was really able to torque down on the screws. The hex but that came with the plus wrench was the only bit I have of that size, so I was grateful to have the plus set.

I'm going to try pocket carrying mine tomorrow. I have a 3 day, 2 night Scout campout this weekend and that might make packing the Spirit easier.

I would rig a lanyard , you can run a bit of gutted paracord through the brackets used for the corkscrew , the Spiritis a pretty slick tool , and could easily work it’s way out of pocket .
I dug a double mag. pouch out of my stash , and set it up with the Spirit + accessories , plus a Surefire light , and a spare CR123A battery . Worth a try .
Tomm . I’ll be in a very secure site , where picture taking is frowned on , they let some of us hang onto our cell phones , as a courtsey . They also have a heavyduty non disclosure agreement in force. I’ll see what I can do before , and after work .
Best Regards,
Chris
Thanks mates! I have a double mag pouch I can put to use. For the life of me I can't find the lanyard attachment on my Spirit.Same here... anyone know how to fix a lanyard to a Spirit? ???
Day 16
In an attempt to answer the question I borrowed in my previous post, I have been playing around with some paracord in combination with two orifices which I won't be using for their intended purpose - the corkscrew. I've kept the lanyard short for the moment, but could put in a longer piece if necessary (maybe knotted). It doesn't impair any other of the Spirit's functions.

Some more harvesting.
Day 17
Used the can opener to remove the scales from my Explorer, then replaced them with plus scales...........
Put the Phillips head screwdriver to work again!
I actually like the Leatherman wingman for looks and comfortable feel.
Its my daily carry when working and has served me well for several years, even if the blade is looking a little worse for wear.
But I do have a spare.
However, functionally it lacks a bit against many other multi tools
When I'm camping I carry a Victornox Craftsman, suits most purposes.
I Have also just purchased a Victornox Hercules for when I'm boating and hiking.
Again, its not what I call an attractive knife, but function over aesthetics is my aim.
Now if we are talking good looking knives, as opposed to tools.
I have several Damascus bladed knives that fit that bill nicely.
You and your family have our Prayers as well Sir.
I am adding mine. Take and give comfort from and to those around you during the next days and weeks...Day 17:I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother...prayers sent.

Day 16
Used the Spirits scissors again.
This time to open a small package :mail:
I'm planning to upgrade the Spirit.
As I wanted the PE blade I couldn't get a plus package.
But that's ok because I did have the corkscrew/mini-screwdriver thing already.
It was included in a LM Tool Adapter I once bought via eBay :dunno:
And if I need an extender then I can use the LM one I have already.
So what's missing still is the bit wrench

Nice - does the extender fit together with the Spirit? The leather sheath I have wouldn't be wide enough... And would the wrench fit in together with these?
More great stuff today. I had one of those days where I almost forgot, so I took a quick photo while putting fuel in the tank.Well for you almost forgetting...thats a great photo! :like: it a lot.

I had the opportunity to combine two passions of mine today when a neighbor stopped by for a visit with his '72 Karmann Ghia. The Victorinox screwdrivers work perfectly on the carburetor adjustment screws on the air cooled VW. It sure brought back some memories of doing maintenance on my own!
Just the same that cuppa looks good!

Used Spirit to sharpen pencil, did same to my Rebar and compared Spirit and Rebar as sharpening tool and gotta say Spirit took win cause it faster and more comfort to sharpen with Spirits multiblade rather than Rebars SE blade, PE blades wasnt on test this time(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181020/12d470e5a7ba00dfdc6a3d915abe456c.jpg)

Day 20:
Used this bad boy to deburr some cut I did on a shovel with an angle grinder. Victorinox really makes the best all purpose file on a MT. It’s my favorite tool besides the blade. I am disappointed though that the Swisstool uses the older version of the file though. The newer version features on the Spirit is leaps and bounds better.

Day 21
Preparing for some gardening, to assist the big boys in case it's needed. In the end it wasn't.
I think I might have found my new camping partner! The Spirit came through with flying colors this weekend. I even used the chisel to whittle a branch of wood for a pendant. The saw was wonderful for cutting kindling, and the file worked great for lighting stubborn strike anywhere matches for our breakfast fire.

Day 23Sorry to hear about the finger getting cut! That’s not good. Thanks for the information. :salute:
- It's a pity Vic hasn't thought about a pocket clip or a lanyard attachment. Aftermarket or DIY options are available but most are not as elegant as the original thing would be, others not easy to fashion.
- While fumbling for the Spirit yesterday I cut a finger on the file's edge while this was folded inside the handle.
- And... the Spirit is not easy to mod, generally, as you have to destroy the original pivots... :(
Great posts and photo’s :tu:

Toy time today.

Tried to file some metal. Didn't realize it was heavy metal. No more gothic dark file. It shines now...
Still usable. But more of it and it goes back so Switzerland.
Day 23:
My 5 year old wanted a heart necklace, and so I told her I'd make her one. Of course, my 3 year old required one too, so I made two.
Spirit helped close the jump rings, cut the leather cord and open the magnetic clasp package.
Gotta love the clean cut of a sharp edge.

Wait - this is not a Spirit?
Er... no. I'm just using this pic to illustrate how much I like pocket clips, so much so that I've added one to my Rebar (https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,79075.msg1796467.html#msg1796467).
Remember when I was musing on the lack of a pocket clip option on a Spirit earlier on in this thread (on several occasions, in fact - you can probably tell I'm a little bit obsessed)? I have seen the Nite-Ize Hip Clip in use on pics, but discarded that option for my Black Spirit due to incompatible colours. I've even briefly considered acquiring a stainless Spirit just for the fun of being able to put a Hip Clip on it, but held off on that - to be quite frank, while very practical, the aesthetics of something stuck on the outside with double-sided tape on something finished to Vic standards don't appeal to me.
That is when serendipity set in. :mail:
I invite you to take a thorough look at the pics below and let the sight sink in for a few minutes before clicking on the spoiler to read more.Show contentNo, I didn't mod this myself. While I've done a fair number of mods, this one takes more skills than I possess, not to mention guts.
While this challenge was in full blow I happened to stumble on an offer I simply could not refuse. Grant was offering a few select pieces for sale, among which... a Spirit modified originally by old-time forum member J-sews back in 2007 to include a pocket clip (https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,858.0.html).
So we settled the deal. Despite looming strike threats, Grant somehow got Canada Post to charter a secretly hidden remaining flyable SR-71 Blackbird to get the Spirit over to Europe, or something equally fast, where it arrived in my mailbox yesterday late afternoon.
Not only does the tool show only the barest minimum of carry signs, all the inside tools and the pliers are as new. The clincher, of course, is the pocket clip.
Not all like pocket clips on a Spirit, but I do (have I told you yet that I like pocket clips?), and this one, done in the neatest, most precise and least intrusive manner imaginable beats whatever attempts I could have made at botching the job.
To stress the 'factory quality' of this mod, which I can now attest to first hand as well, Grant fascinatingly reports that it was done so absolutely well that he had actually convinced upper management at Victorinox that it was a secret prototype sent to him from Ibach that they hadn't heard of yet.
There are, or were, one or two others in MTO who have successfully copied this mod, but this is the one that went first, and set the standard.

Very nice B&W there D_T . Much :like:Thanks Bill :salute:
I've never carved a pumpkin before.
And a carved turnip appears to be more traditional round this side of the pond.... so suitably Black Spirit blade and chisel worked just fine ... results after dark !
Day 27Nice...and the black one very nice! :tu:

I think after this challenge im gonna keep Spirit on my bag, its good but still im bit affraid to use it fully and its get special place on my belt when using suot cause its just fits there better than any other of my tools(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181028/efba30b7628bf358545765770c85b076.jpg)

Day 28:Funny how things just happen and reminds us! :tu:
I almost forgot to post today. Then the paper shredder jammed and I used the spirit to disassemble. The long Philips driver fit perfectly.
Day 27:
Had no reception well camping, but here is the fruit of my and the spirit’s labor, 8 fishing poles set up. Result: 0 fish nibbles and 1 got away
Day 28
No action today.
That will be my EDC after day 30.

Matt, I'm with you on the scissors. I have a better experiance using the scissors on my 58mm Classic, except on cable (zip) ties. The Spirit scissors are awesome on those. :D
Thisjk38, any day camping is great. Camping and fishing is Heaven, even if you don't catch any.
Got lucky and found a new blade today, the best kind FREE. :D
Milwaukee Fastback Utility knife.
Needed a little attention, so the Spirit helped me remove the broken pocket clip. I may or may not replace it. It's a tool that will see use but I dout I'll carry it as an EDC so no clip is no problem.

Nice blade Douglas, but surely that pocket clip is salvageable?
Day 29 - penultimate day of this challenge
Anyway, back by popular demand (or rather, absence of any strict demands to the contrary heheh :D) this is the last instalment of D_T's Monday Morning Coffee and MT pic TM, at least for this challenge. They never grow old, do they?

Day 29
Replaced the batteries in my daughter's toy torch..........
day 29 - not a whole lot to do today. so thought i'd take this chance to remind everyone to drive carefully and if you can, donate blood. locally we're coming close to the period where this season's wine will be ready and that means a lot of irresponsible and dumb decisions

...
This concludes my notes and (official) contributions to this fun challenge. Many thanks to styx for setting this up, and to all contributors for pics, uses and insights :hatsoff:  :salute:
Thanks Matt
About the hook, I agree it has a function in keeping the awl reachable... but as a hook it's awkwardly located, thus quite a compromise (and not central, but at a handle end, making the "parcel carrier" aspect a little awkward too)... and a longer still reachable awl would have been equally possible by suitably profiling the tang end...
The lanyard: well yes, you could use the corkscrew support(s). You'll forgive me for not finding that very elegant... One could use both of them to keep the tool balanced, but still  Somehow these solutions are not in keeping with Vic philosophy as I've come to appreciate it. Some kind of lanyard with holding clips fitting the corkscrew holes should be possible... what if... mumble mumble...
Day 30:Ok, the second photo is a winner! It looks like a creature and it’s eye is the Vic crest! :like: :tu:
The last day of the challenge!
:woohoo:
Since tomorrow is Halloween, here are my attempts at some spooky spirit pics

Ha, thanks. I didn't even think about it that way!
Day 30.
The Haunting of the Turnip .......
It's been a fun challenge thank you Styx and it's been good to rely upon the Spirit. I don't need one as EDC but that doesn't mean it hasn't been good carrying one as a choice. And I think it is a much more polished (literally) tool than my LM Wave. With the Plus tools and a corkscrew (with mini screwdriver) it has everything I need.
Good tip Matt :tu: :like:
now sadly our mods will have a lot of work. and i managed to miss day 31 and the pumkin
Day 31:

I'm actually looking at the new rechargeable Microstreams. today was an unusual day with a Para2, Farmer and Spirit
I heard back from Victorinox and they can't repair my Spirit so they are sending back my original one plus a brand new identical one w/sheath! Only charge I had to pay was the $5 process fee. I mailed it in two weeks ago and my package should be shipped today from Vic. :mail:

Havent got badge yet :(I have seen a few participants who got it awarded, including myself. For me, possibly because I took the precaution of requesting it just in case... ;)

For all who are waiting for their batch, please request it separately. This challenge might have gotten too confusing for the Admins to figure out result wise :D
We lost some in-between while I started a bit later etc.

The spirit is a wonderful companion out in the woods and also at work in the office.
It will stay in my EDC.
