Title: All-Weather Pen
Post by: Benner on February 27, 2008, 01:08:59 AM
I keep meaning to post this.  One of the many items I received from Calvin was a "Rite in the rain" All-weather pen and they are pretty good. They write well on many surfaces including shiney and those with grease spots, and I am quite impressed by it.  Here's a link to the site http://riteintherain.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=97&Category=a2abe046-e9e6-43b6-98e1-a70ba46a49b4.  Can't quite say it warrants the "tactical" descrition though.  :D

Not bad for half the price of the bullet shaped Fisher space pen.

Excellent pens. I have been adicted to the Bullett pen now for 3 years and the write in the rain pads now for 2. You cant get a better product for logging in the outdoor activities.

Excelent pens indeed!

I also have 3 of these pens. 1 All-Weather Pen and 2 Fisher Space Pen. I didn't know that these wonderful products existed not until I received these gifts from Calvin.

My All-Weather Pen still in its clamshell pack and my 2 Fisher Space Pen. The Bullet is in the middle in close position.

The Bullet Space Pen in the middle in open position becomes a full size pen.

I got one of Rite in the rain pens from Calvin and it is pretty cool. What really impressed me was the Rite in the Rain paper pads, now those are cool.

Have you not used your All-weather pen yet then Eddie?  Give it a go it's pretty good. :)

I have taken to carrying both a Fisher and one of these now. It's always handy to have a spare pen on you.

I have not yet use the All-Weather Pen, Ben. The Fisher Space Pens are also all-weather pens. It can write in all positions, underwater, in zero gravity and vacuum of space. it's even used by astronauts in space.

Actually it is really nice to be able to take notes lying on your back under a truck. I like that I can get more than one word down without throwing the pen accross the shop floor.

I've not used mine as much as my Space Pen but it is a nice pen in its own right. The space pen has taken over as my main uni pen though. I'm not a big clicky pen fan, apart from that its a great pen!

But the All-weather pen is "tactical" black.  That makes it cool. :D

Since it's all weather, does it work during earthquakes too?  :D

Wouldn't you need some all weather paper to go with your all weather pen? Like this stuff from the makers of your tactical all weather pen .... Rite in the Rain (http://www.riteintherain.com/) Hey, that's how they spell it, ok?

The cartridges in those "Rite in the Rain" pens are made by Fisher, the same people who make the Space Pen. I did a dunk test with the "Rite in the Rain " paper and both pens, thinking that they would be the same. Not so. The ink in the Space Pen bled slightly while the All-Weather pen didn't.

A real mad scientist I am! :ahhh One of you guys that have both, give it a try and see if I'm loony tunes or not. :D

I find the AWP much nicer to write with as well.  I now carry both, but prefer the AWP overall.

The AWP has a real nice feel to it, especially the matt black. They make the same pen that is a dollar or two cheaper and has a silver barrel with the clicker top the color of the ink. The cartridge is the same though. You can get several color refills that fit the AWP.

I have just discovered another bonus of the AWP.   I left it at work yesterday by accident and when I went back today it was still there!  :o  This I expect is due to it's "ordinary" appearance.  From the outside it just looks like a normal clicky, not much point in taking that.  :)  This would not have happened if I was carrying my Fisher, someone would have nicked it as soon as I had left the building.  :D

Maybe it really is "tactical" after all!  :P

First operational use of my new AWP thanks to Roadie performed every bit as well as my Space pen and it's a much better size as I didn't lose track of it in my 1001 pockets
