Title: Trayvax Wallet
Post by: Dtrain on February 19, 2017, 02:18:06 PM
I just got a Trayvax wallet thanks to a Generous Individual. A while back I spotted them on YouTube and became intrigued with the Concept and the Trayvax's ..Of course before Purchasing I tossed out the question on the Forum's Facebook Page..The responses were mixed..However much to the Credit of Everyone here no One Individual said anything Derogatory about going out and Purchasing one.

I will Admit that I might have been hooked in by the Company's Video..but I am really intrigued by it all because it does represent a Solution for the Growing Number of Older Drivers such as myself ( A few Years Ago it was said the Average Age of the American Truck Driver is 57) which is Back Pain from a Wallet..

An Easy Solution would be stowing a Wallet in a Cubby or Bin while Driving, for me I could and have tossed mine in a Go Bag on the Floor since I slip seat and wont leave that behind when leaving or in the event of a mechanical problem switching out Trucks. I am not too happy with that idea, maybe it is my Time in the Army or the way I was raised but I want my Wallet and ID on me until I am ready to go to Bed..

I received the Wallet in the Mail earlier in the Week but waited until yesterday to switch out..This gave me some time to take a look at what I had and maybe downsize there as well and take a look at the construction of the Wallet before proceeding on this new Adventure in Gadgets.

I am satisfied with the Construction and Materials. I feel that a Fair Price is being asked by Sellers on Amazon, at least for this Model which is Trayvax's Original...

As to the Design of the Wallet, I am up in the Air about a Bottle Opener..Like most of us here and any given time I must have two or three other option on person alone..I do like the ability to attach a Lanyard or Carbineer to  secure the wallet even more from loss or theft..I am not sure if I will ever use the feature to carry a plastic bag, but it does add another point to aid in securing the Wallet to One's Person or Gear..The Wallet if secured as the YouTube Videos suggest seems to be capable of keeping items secured if hun outside a pack or bag, but I'll just avoid that..As to some comments on these videos that it would be a great "Impact Weapon"...I don't think So and if I choose to defend myself, I am not striking you with a Wallet..

So Far just bouncing around the House and "Practicing" getting Items I regularly use out of my Wallet seems a bit slower than the Traditional Wallet that I just left behind..(A Very Solid Leather Tri Fold from the Duluth Pack Company which has held up like a Champ for more than 8 years if anyone is interested..I recommend the Work and the Price is Fair for the Quality)

With time getting things in and out if I keep using the Wallet might get better

I will try and keep folks up to speed on my Wallet Journey

I have my Duluth on Standby if those does not Work Out

My Wifey thinks I have Issues

If you like the Trayvax wallet then so do I! :P

Seriously, I hope you get on well with it.  I think it is at best just something to prey on "manly men," but then I suppose so is the entire knife/tool/outdoors industry so I probably shouldn't judge them too much.

I know I don't care for it but I hope you have a better experience.

Oh, and good to see you here on the forum again!

You like it more than I do by the sounds of it, but one man's junk is another's treasure.  Hopefully Pete has a better experience than we did!

Didn't know about the Secrids. They look nice!

BTW Dutch beers aren't worse than Belgian, just different. (Most Dutch quality beers aren't sold in Belgium, we keep the best for ourselves).  :D

PS I'm not going to translate the label, autocorrect would change the name to smurf beer. Something about our local dialect.

Enkel in Nederland

And yay! Someone took the bait! :ahhh

But do check out the Secrid when you have the change. It's worth every euro.

So far the Weekend went well with the Wallet. My biggest problem was touching my back pocket then Panicing. My Wife found this to be hilarious. The test is going to be how it does for me during the Week.I am looking at his with an open mind and the realisation that this isn't going to operate like the style of Wallet I have carried for well over Thirty Years. One thing that I will say is this is not a Wallet for Skinny Jeans lol..But seems to work fine with Wranglers or Dockers

I went from velcro wallets to leather in short order.  I have all three of my wallets that I've retired, maybe its 2 .  I moved on to my current wallet for no other reason that its a Wenger.  I got it used for a $1 so I decided to put it to use.  The plastic ID window always fails on every wallet I've had.  A wallet a decade is pretty good IMO.

That wallet looks to be able to serve you and the next few generations.

Just Checking In before Work....Last Night went well with the Wallet..I am still reaching back and checking..Then Panicking when I don't feel my Wallet in it's usual location..As for accessing cards and cash, a bit slower but not too bad..I think it will be nice when Riding Season arrives again I wont be afraid of my Wallet falling out on the Motorcycle

How are you carrying this wallet?

I am developing hip pain in my right hip that I believe is due largely to carrying my wallet in my back right pocket.  I have taken to putting it on a shelf with my keys when I get home and only carrying it when I go out.  That took a lot of undoing let me tell you!  :ahhh

I have been carrying it in my Right Front Pocket.I make sure that the Bottle Opener is facing up and away from my Legand that the Tab on the Adustmant piece of Paracord is not caught between the wallet and my leg too..It is not much of a process and takes more describing than actually doing when I put the wallet back. I understand about setting down a wallet..I was brought up the same way you were concerning that especially after my time in the Army. Hence why I was looking at the I guess Tech Wallets like the Trayvaxx

When I am not wearing jeans (which I wear most often) I wear cargo shorts or cargo pants, depending on the season.  I really like putting my wallet in the thigh pocket of those, and I usually appreciate having it there as it is easy to reach, but out of the way.  Just be careful if you put it in your left thigh pocket when you slam the car door after you get in.

Yeah, not fun.

Other than carrying cards are you getting any use out of the various functions of that thing?

Glad to hear you are getting along well with it!

Have you used it as anything more than a wallet?

Nope just as a wallet. It has been a conversation starter a few times. Not sure if that counts

I agree..Lots of Folks wrote down where it came from..So I guess if Self Advertising was one of the designers goals he nailed it....To me this Model is worth it's asking price..The Others I am not to sure about nor do I feel that it is worth that kind of expenditure to turn around and say "well it seemed like a good idea at the time". I do think that in defense of the Wallet and his Concept along with others it is a moment that we need to realize that changing  from something we have all done and grown up with for 30 or 40 years isn't easy and a bit of a process. Overall I am very pleased and surprised. Kind of like my experiences so far at Work with the Gerber ICON Folders as a lower budget Folder.

It has been a Month and I am still going at it with the Trayvax Wallet and I am pleased. It has been a bit awkward at times accessing Cash, but Cards and ID seem to be no problem

Good stuff. I personally believe if it makes you happy then by all means keep it and don't listen to other people.

Myself I am not a big fan of multifunctional wallets as it just presents more opportunities for it to be stolen or something falling out if you keep whipping out the wallet. If it comes with a bottle opener then I'm guessing I'll have beer stains on my wallet 😜
Though I love my Architect wallet with the Fisher pen holder. To each his own.

I'm glad to hear you are getting on well with it Pete.  I really wasn't interested in it myself, but I am glad it is working out for you.

Oh yeah, and I ordered the Stealth Angel Survival Kit you linked to on FB. I am not expecting much from it, so with the bar set so low it can't disappoint me! :P

I have been wrong before- maybe it will be worth $20.

I doubt it because, as I said I have several of the components already.
