This is another thread for collectors of multi tools. Specifically, this is a club thread for locking-pliers multi tools. :)
Lets see some photos of your locking-pliers multi-tools! Crunch, Grappler, A100, Schrades, and Vise-Grips! As well as the clones and off-brands that try to encroach into the big-brand's markets. :tu:
So, to start, these are my locking-pliers multi-tools so far. Leatherman Crunch(1999 First Year - NIB w/ factory oil), Gerber Grappler(NIB w/ factory oil), Kershaw A100(NIB w/ factory oil), and cheap-o Vise-Grip 6LN(I have an eye out for some of the originals, but they are going to high right now).

Yeah, the days of cheap(ish) Schrade 5WR, 6LC and ST6 locking pliers seem to be long gone.
If you don't mind knock-offs the Sheffield Crocodile "sort-of-copies" of the A100 are sometimes sold cheaply.
The Craftsman re-label of the A100 seems to go for similarly high prices to the original.
-
Indeed. Fortunately, there are tons of other MTs I'd spend $50-$150 on before the schrade originals. They're cool, but they aren't calling out to me. I would like to find the Sheffield at some point. There isn't one listed on ebay right bow, but maybe another day.
Thank you, gregozedobe.

Cool collection GLBM :like: :tu:

I'm in! :tu:
No piccies just yet, but I have a Schrade LC6 and most of a Gerber Grappler (I robbed a piece off it for a mod). I used to have a ST6N too, but sold that on.
These tools reside in my tool bags, rather than being pocket carried. I've no need to carry locking pliers, but it doesn't hurt for my toolbag locking pliers to have extra functions :D

Here is my no knife PocketCrunch
fitted with Wave scissors and a kick pocket clip :tu:
-
the Crunch, compact tool that packs a punch
the Schrade Needlenose, I have two of those
the Schrade Short, there's no mission to abort
and the Kershaw Tool, it's quite old but so cool!
Here below are my ST6, 5WR, A100, and Crunch
these 4 Vise Grip tools, they make a good bunch!

Nice ones Chako :tu:
:iagree:
Do you need about a week to locate all of your locking-pliers tools, in your collection, for the club? :pok: :)

Thanks for sharing, Chako! :like:

@ all - Nice tools. I think I need a crunch too...

It is a true MT classic. One of the oldest designs still in production. If you can find one, the first-year 1999 is an outstanding(quality and fit & finish) tool. :multi:

Yes you do :pok:, agree with GLBM here. Maybe not for daily carry (although Wspeed makes an occasional habit of that, I hear) but mine has seen use (when modding other tools >:D >:D)

Added another cheapie. The 5WR.

I think it took me a week to answer back.
Yes and no. Those are older photos, and not all of the models I have either. It does take me quite some time to go through all of my full photo libraries to find a particular photo.

I was going to go for one of the OG Vise MTs, but the prices turned me off quickly. :ahhh
Fortunately, and subsequently, I blew the "junk money" on a bunch of cheap stuff.
-
As you know, right now I am on a watch bender. :D

As you know, right now I am on a watch bender. :D
Those are a lot of fun! I made a bunch of money about ten years ago selling off some vintage watches I had accumulated. These days I can barely make myself let go of '$0.50 yard sale type stuff'.
Oh well. Accumulation binges are fun and keep people employed around the world. :)
B
As far as MTs go, I have a Paul Chen shears sliding MT, Swiss+Tech Max, Gerber Solstice, Gerber Mini Suspension, and Roxon S801 on the way.
-
I have all of those except the Roxon.

I have all of those except the Roxon.
:pok: I am disappointed to learn of this, Chako! :D
Kidding aside, the Roxon is pricey for a "budget tool" at about $50. But, it has a LOT going on it seems. I was thrilled to find a Solstice, as they seem to be as common as hen's teeth. :ahhh
-
you have to be looking and monitoring closely for Solstices,
I only find two every year :D

You need to build a small multitoolhenge to keep track of the available solstices. :multi:
