Wow, how wrong is that?
"(Affleck) has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne," said Snyder. "I can't wait to work with him."
Um... Affleck has acting chops? Since when? Did this guy even see Daredevil? Or Gia? Or anything else Affleck has done?
I can think of a hundred other actors that would be a much better Batman than Affleck- just off the top of my head:
Karl Urban (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0881631/?ref_=tt_cl_t1)
Liev Schreiber (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000630/?ref_=tt_cl_t2)
Vince Vieluf (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0896735/?ref_=tt_cl_t10)
Ray Stevenson (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0829032/?ref_=tt_cl_t1)
James Marsden (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005188/?ref_=sr_1)
Matt Damon (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000354/?ref_=sr_1)
Just to name a few...

Hmmm. I read this earlier and was a little confused too  He does however act slightly better than he plays pool. Check out the outtakes from Smoking Aces if you don't know what I'm on about ;)

Idk, ill have to stick up for him, he had a little action in Armageddon and paycheck, but he's hit the directing stage, and I think that's the only way he got the part! But for the part as batman, NO! I don't think so! I would have gone with at least, Robert Downey, Hugh Jackman, Matt Damon, or Jason Statham, I'm sure event the wife would have went with her fav, Vin diesel, Gerard butler, mark wahlberg or even, Channing tatum before Ben affleck! Oh, this deserves a facepalm.

Marky Mark would be a horrible Batman- he's only three apples tall! Imagine a teeny Batman trying to inspire fear into the hearts of criminals when he can't even see over the counter! :ahhh

I was just saying, besides they make shoes to make you taller, along with camera angles! JR

I suppose if Tom Cruise can play Jack Reacher who was well over 6 feet and 200+ pounds, anythign can happen.

Sorry, I'm not a hater of Ben Affleck's work by and large, but I just can't see him as Batman.
-
Nope, it doesn't work for me either....
-
perhaps they're trying to work the internet hate/meme for publicity...
-
Maybe they want Batman and Superman to fight, and not have the audience feel too bad when Batman loses?

I read somewhere someone saying "A Wonder Woman movie is too much of a financial risk in the current climate, but Ben Affleck as Batman is acceptable"
-
We have to admit tho, it's not real Batman, it's a Superman sideshow Batman...
Still
-
Well, he was blind as a bat in dare devil so he should do just fine. Who's playing the hot chick in the movie? Kristen Stewart
-
However dissapointing that is to anyone who appreciates batman, at least we know it cant be worst than george clooneys batman.
Maybe this would make a great giveaway excuse, the contest being how awful will it be: bad, very bad, hideous....... The price being a dinner with ben affleck to tell him :twak:

Exact same thought, I don't think he is a bad actor, but just not dark enough to play batman.
I remembered getting the original Batman vs Superman comic; although I don't read much Batman, it is by and far my favorite portrayal of Batman--seasonal, dark, cunning and will use whatever means to do justice. Affleck is going to ruin that darkness. :)
Superman and Batman - World's Finest Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3oN3EJcfwE#ws)
I have seen this trailer a long time ago(I remembered not 2011 ) and just love the guys playing it.

I never understood the need to change the Batman or superman or spiderman actors every few years... The last batman is still young enough (possibly younger than ben affleck). I could understand it if the previous one was considered a failure, but he was OK. ???
At least the James Bond actor is allowed to age a bit before they change him...

Film studio politics i think... Its not a Batman movie, its Superman movie, different studio, and i bet chris bale comes with a hefty price tag

Usually boils down to money I'm guessing. As an actor gains fame as a character, they typically expect more money for sequels to match the success of the movies and at some point some studio exec feels that the actor is getting too much of his hard(ly) earned profits and goes for a recast to some unknown/lesser known who they can pay peanuts.
Maybe the new Superman is a romantic comedy where Superman and Batman come out as gay... in which case Ben Affleck may be the perfect choice... >:D

Aflaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaac! :D

Holy Affleck Batman! :D

OK, I'm going to weigh in with some support for Affleck. IMO it depends on what kind of Batman we are going to see in this film; if we are going for a new, just starting out, fresh Batman (such as in Batman Begins) I just can't see it. However, if we are going to see an older, jaded, tired and worn out Batman then I can actually see Affleck pulling this off. Still maybe not my first choice in actor for the part, but not the total disaster that some people seem to think this might be.

I was initially skeptical, but I'm warming up to the possibility he could do a good job. I mean, when Tim Burton cast Michael Keaton as Batman, it made no sense. The guy who played Beetlejuice, and Mr. Mom, as Batman? His first Batman movie is quite good though.
-
At first:
Then:
Conclusion:  ... but it can't be worse than Christian Bale.
Yes, I'm overusing  because it's new for me.

Yes well Michael Keaton is an excellent actor- the muscles were simulated with a foam rubber suit. I'm not sure we could find a foam rubber prosthetic to cover Affleck's lack of talent.

Could have been worse ..... could have been Rick Moranis

I just remembered a distant nightmare--George Clooney. He is not a bad actor, especially considering recent work. But the Clooney Batman was a low-low. I don't like Affleck as a chooce, but I am doubtful he could make it even worse.
-
For my Money Michael Keaton has still turned in the best Batman/Wayne performance. I know some of you will be creaming "what about Bale!" and even some of you thinking "what about West!?", but for me Keaton still does it best. Keaton Batman was on TV yesterday and we watched it. Comparing to the modern Bale/Dark Knight series it seems a tad cheesy now, especially the sheer amount of 80s wardrobe  mixed with the typical Gotham city art deco. Was still enjoyable in any case. The same cannot be said for some of the later flicks...
-
Keaton was an ok batman in my opinion, but as much as I think Wayne is a social disconnect, the old plot might have overdone it at times :twak:--there was one scene I vividly remembered(old part I or part II ???), that he just sat at the end of a long table, zoning out in an unlit room and wait until the bat signal lit up in mid sky.
Being social misfit is one thing, but posing in a dark room for hours is another level. Can't he at least play with his SAKs collection? :D
-
Keaton, West and Bale all brought something interesting to the role. Clooney didn't and Kilmer could have, had the movie not been so badly written and shot by a bunch of drunk cameramen. Val kilmer wasn't a great Batman, but I think he could have been. The cream may float to the top, but when everything it's floating on is so vile and low, rising above it is still not worth talking about.
Affleck reminds me a lot of the choice of Clooney as Batman. Pick the flavor of the month actor that women swoon over and put him in as much stuff as you can until people think he's good or he starts to get ugly. Affleck plays the same character in pretty well every movie he's in, and none of them have much in the way of depth. Micheal Keaton and Christian Bale are both excellent actors that make you believe they are Batman, and the tortured Bruce Wayne putting on a facade to keep people from suspecting him. I just can't see Ben Affleck pulling that off.
