Title: Def and Mods Forum Question
Post by: donvito on January 22, 2009, 07:19:01 AM
In the past I used to frequent a different forum (mil + outdoors) and the site had a great wealth of information, great members, and lots of pics. The only drawback was that anything over 3 years old got erased automatically unless it was stickied. Just wanted to know if there was such a feature here (hope not) this site has accumulated a great deal of knowledge and would be sad to see some of the older posts get deleted. Thx V.

Not only do old posts not get deleted (archiving is common in many forums, they still exist, but arn't accessible for general consumption.)

The common man can't even delete them if he wanted to!

That's how much of a hoarder Def is! not only does he pack away SAKs as if he is expecting a steel-prohibition, he won't even let ancient, irrelevant, and for the most part trashy cyberspace discussion be disposed of

It's still good!

It's really important to maintain the information here as most of the info we accumulate simply isn't available anywhere else.  With many other forums, like military antiques or outdoors forums, there are many to choose from, but this is the only dedicated multitool forum out there.  There are other multitool forums, but they are a small subsection of other forums (like Knifeforums or Bladeforums) but we are the only speSmurfpillsts, and therefore the only people that have the innermost details and history.

As such, I have tried very hard to preserve every piece of info that we have had posted here, so that anyone looking for information can find it either here on the forum, on the main site or in the Encyclopedia.  It's not as easy as it sounds, and it's taking up more and more server space, but I feel it's worth it.

Thx good to know that the posts here will be there for us to look back on as a reference or to just have a good ole laugh at ourselves and see how much progress we and the tool community has made
