Title: Red Hunter Pro
Post by: Reinier on December 11, 2018, 08:16:34 AM
So, there's a new Hunter Pro coming in January 2019. Red alox scales and a non one-handed blade.

Any thoughts?
Has anyone seen it in the flesh?

Could be.
But I'm guessing: real.

Was new to me, but after a quick search there are plenty of information about a one handed alox hunter in silver, so the red one is no fake I guess.
Price for the silver one 99 Euro: http://www.schweizer-messer-store.de/Victorinox-Hunter-Pro-Alox

I would prefer it in a one-hand blade. The red is a nice color for sure.  :like:

It’s supposed to be available in the US by the  end of the month... and maybe even the rest of the world... Seen some posts of the actual knife... Owner bought it from the flagship store in Zurich...

No thumbhole and nail nick... but plenty of real estate to pinch hold the blade open...

Now to mod the OHO blade from the silver one into it >:D

I saw one at a knife dealer last weekend. It looked sweet. 100 bucks on the price tag. I can see this in my future in 2019.

It seems comparable to the cold steel code 4, but a lesser steel.

I’ll be tempted if it goes on sale.

Don’t think I’m going to use the pocket clip as it’s a bit hefty and not legal edc for me. However it could see some use at work and will got into my jacket pocket.
Usual amazing Vic quality and zero blade play. I’ll get some side by side pics up with other popular folders shortly.

The more I handle it the more I like it , not a fan of the pocket clip, sure it’s a really good thing it’s removable and deep pocket carry is good but it’s a bit too big a knife imo for a pocket clip and the clip isn’t that tight but that’s ok for me as I like the slim profile. Apart from that I can’t fault it

So im reading this forum last night an wifey says. "I like that one it looks kinda pink, i want that one."

Not one to argue. I did some more reading. Before i get one for wifey.

Two complaints seems to be the steel isnt great and people dont love the pin construction.
While i cant change the steel, has anyone looked at doing the torx conversion? Seems pretty straight forward.

If she wants pink, with torx screws and great metal...
(Sorry Switzerland!)
I'd say go for the pink Spyderco Native...

I don't think she wants it in pink. It was just more interesting than the standard silver one.

The Buck Spitfire might be worth a look - mine's red but they do them in orange and green (and maybe some other colours)
They have aluminium scales, without the waffle pattern, torx screws and they're USA made, which is nice in this day and age. Blade's pretty average, but the price is less than 50 US dollars last time I looked.

Of course if yours or the Mrs's heart is set on the Victorinox I'm sure it's a cracking good knife. It's not often that Victorinox builds a turkey. I'd be more into it if they'd put those juicy red scales on the one hand opening blade.
