Title: Badge request, fire making
Post by: Borg on February 15, 2019, 07:05:57 PM
Burned some branches today and thought i would use the ferro rod to get it going, i read a while back about using fluff from the dryer filter as tinder and thought i would give it a go

Base of Birch bark i collected last year with some fluff and a bit of horsehair, no real need for the horsehair but i saw it and thought why not, i don't think there was any benefit in using it..there wasn't much anyway

Well i am impressed, two strikes and the dryer fluff was on fire, added a bit of chopped up 2x2 and we are away

Almost time for the marshmallows  :salute:

Awarded.  Dyer lint is a nice tinder source and free.  It compacts really nice and weight, well lets just say you can pack a lot with little strain on your back  :D.

Thanks everyone and thanks Aloha for the badge

It really did surprise me how easily the fluff lint caught fire and had a good strong flame immediately, i will certainly be using it again so i will collect more and store it in a sealed bag to keep it dry, the extra dry Birch bark caught well too..a really good combination  :tu:

Very nice! I have heard about this but have not seen it. I am now worried because I have a small trash can full of this stuff, better empty it.
