Inspired by the feedback I got from the 91mm diagrams I did (made a stickie 91mm SAK Family - Current and Discontinued (https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,81456.0.html)),
I've now completed a diagram for the 111mm SAK Family. :salute:
A little more work as the hierarchy is not a tidy as the 91mm family, and I wanted to show liner/slide lock and those with OHO blades. As the 111mm range is a little newer than the 91mm range, I managed to get both the discontinued and current models on one page.
I only have one 111mm in my SAK collection (a Soldier 08), so this diagram will come in useful to consider available options. :)

Awesome!!!! Thanks!!!

Nice job Max! :like: :tu: :tu:
Thanks!

Fantastic! So generous of you to share this.

Hi Max - Another brilliant piece of work
I did a lot of work in the Wiki last year when Vic migrated to solely liner lock
- And I love the way you have managed to show this is the diagram too - And that the slide lock is grey on the converted models :D :tu:
On that topic I have spotted one tiny error - The Skipper used to be slide locking and that square is missing
I have also updated the Locksmith in the Wiki, which was not up-to-date post 2017 - Thanks to this :tu:
And one query - Is the three layer GAK (Trekker variant) retired? As per your diagram?
That could make sense as the Soldier has replaced it - However the Wiki does not say this .... yet!! - (although does the German Army still want its scales?)
PS. Added to stickied thread
PPS. I couldnot get the link in your post above to work? ???
PPPS. Can we put these diagrams in the Wiki - Or a link to here?
-
Hi Huntsman, thanks for the feedback. :hatsoff:
Happy for these diagrams to go to the Wiki pages. But give me a few hours to correct the error on the Skipper and I'll repost. (Will do it tonight).
Not sure about the OH GAK availability. Maybe someone on the forum can comment?
Sorry about the broken link to the other diagram. This works: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,81456.0.html (https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,81456.0.html)
Cheers, :salute:

Great stuff, Max!
I can't believe they renamed the Nomad the Picnicker... I mean what would you rather have in your pocket, come the zombie apocalypse? The guy or gal with the Nomad in his or her pocket is going to have a huge psychological edge over the chump with the Picnicker. That's all I'm sayin'!

Actually, come to think about it...it's all about the mindset. Come zombie apocalypse, would you rather stay with someone:
1) Avoiding trouble and runs away like a Nomad, or
2) See this whole thing as Picnick...and eats everything :D
I guess I only learnt everything about Zombie from Walking Dead, so 1) could very well be the right choice too.
-
Picnicker could be useful...maybe? :pok:
-
I rest my case!

OK Huntsman - I've correct the diagram. The Skipper now showing slide-lock historic feature.
I was not able to find any info on a new knife contract issued by the Bundeswehr (German Army) since the original OH-GAK contract that's now 15+ years old. But I guess it's still the official military knife, so I've relisted it as 'current'.
So you're good-to-go with this diagram now. :tu:

Thanks Max - Couple of other suggestions - Sorry to be a pain ..... and only suggestions ......
You could change:
- Except for identifying the back tool (corkscrew or Phillips screwdriver) no other back tools are listed and no other Scale tools or Scale material/colour variations are listed
to ......
- All tools, except the single-layer tools and the Hunters, contain the awl, plus the corkscrew or Phillips screwdriver (optional .....as indicated, no other back tools are listed)
- No other scale tools or scale material/colour variations are listed
On the optional statement - I think it is only the WorkChamp that has any other backtools - So that could just be ignored? ??? !!!
I guess you could even leave out plus the corkscrew or Phillips screwdriver - as these are clearly shown in the diagram!
Note: No capital on scale !!!
Also how about adding the OHO and lock icons to the icon list (title may have to be changed) and the text comment could then be dropped
Anyway - Just suggestions - Time for me to shut up - :twak: - It's up to you - - It's brilliant as it is
-
I agree Huntsman with your good suggestions. I can do these tonight when back at home. Thanks again for the input and constructive feedback! :tu:

OK, updated! It's much better now :tu:
Added an MTO logo too, as this diagram belongs to the community.
-
Round of applause for Max!
-
You're starting to get very good at this, Max! :P
You can see from your work that the 111mm family has expanded as the other ranges have contracted: it must be where the money is these days.
-
Thanks TP, Sawl. :tu:
The diagram logic seems to work so I will work through the rest of the families as I get time. Hunter has offered to put the ones I’ve done so far up on the Wiki, so I’m pleased that I can contribute in a small way to building the knowledge resource. :hatsoff:

I am not so familiar with dealing with PDFs in the Wiki :pok:
Anyway I put it here:
https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Victorinox+111mm
Bottom of first section - As you will see - You click to view/download the PDF
What do people think? Is this a good way to do it ? ???
Or should we show the image actually in the page -
Or click to immediately view an image?
Or maybe both - ie click to immediately see image - Then another button to download the PDF
Hmm ..... choices ..... choices!!!
-
Maybe the 3rd option, visible image when you land of the page, with a link below the image to the PDF?
-
Thatt's a fourth option!!
My option three you still click to see an image (it's done quite a bit in the variations sections of the Wiki to show additional images ) - But images come up immediately - And there would also be a link/click to click on to get the PDF and an extra click to download/open
Maybe the fourth option is best - If so - I would upload the image as well and show it in a new section at the bottom of the page along with a link for the PDF....
-
Option 4 could work. Gives visibility to the diagram as an image with the option to access the higher-res pdf if needed. :tu:
-
Better ? ??? - I think so !!
https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Victorinox+111mm
Will get onto 91mm next
-
That really works well and looks good (if I say so myself) :pok:
Thanks Huntsman.

Sorry Max mate but that one is reserved for the peeps (editors) with their fingers in the sand box.
I do feel however that contributing content like you have is badge worthy.
We will discuss it backstage and see what happens.
