Post-Costco trip depackaging operation, folks. The Executive did fine.

By the way, the Executive works much better in jeans pockets compared to my usual Explorer.
Here goes! Used the Executive to cut open a package of crackers for a snack this morning.

Used the long blade to cut up strawberries for breakfast. The 74mm blade might just be the perfect strawberry processing tool.

When it came to making toast....not so much, used a big bread knife. Just keepin' it real. :D
Looks good, Flint.
Executive helped me tackle a BBQ sandwich this evening (Sep 30).

Feeling ready for the 30-day challenge to start! :ahhh
Day 1 - Scraping some wax of the floor. The main blade worked well for this. That's right, I took some pads off of the corners and edges of my fireplace hearth. There was still quite a bit of adhesive left over after a couple applications of Goo Gone, soap and warm water. The orange peeler did a decent job of scraping some of the adhesive back off the brick work yesterday morning. Also used a putty knife and finger nails.

Well done, Barry. Looks like you've got our first official entry! :salute:
Fast Bill, the Ambassador is great, and it won't spoil. Jump on into this challenge!
Love those scales Mini!! It's cold here in central Pennsylvania on Day 2, so I used the small blade to open a bag of wood pellets. After that, we had a nice cuppa to take the chill off!:like:
anyone else floored by just how razor sharp the serrated orange peeler is?
Smith's pocket sharpener :)anyone else floored by just how razor sharp the serrated orange peeler is?
Yes, I was amazed when I received my new one. My next question is, how can I get my older one back to that sharpness?

Thanks. I am not a whittler, but would like to learn. I can say the small blade worked well for most cuts, but isn't a gouge. I never felt that I had to be gentle on the blade, but it is fairly sharp, which helps.Day 2Nice work! :like:

Oct 03:Nice. Great catch to avoid the little aggregations of the day.
I'm loving all the uses and photos so far.
This morning, the trusty Exec was used to lift and pull off the ring tab on the cream for my coffee. They make these little tabs too darn small for my fat fingers, the orange peeler tool worked nicely.

I liked the pumpkin post, so I'd like to try the same. We don't really celebrate Halloween here in The Netherlands, but some stores carry mini pumpkins. My knife is pretty old (old enough to have a screw in the scissors, with no alignment groove). The file is actually cut in two directions. It works great on nails, but can really pull on other things like. I prefer the file on the Classic SD. To the Executives credit, though. The point is great for opening split rings, etc.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171004/64150b3c51233f9cf5af9eecdcbe22d7.jpg)
October 3rd
We're three days in and I'm really liking the Executive. Ever since I got my alox Ambassador I felt like I needed an Exec, and I have no regrets I did.
A MiniChamp sits permanently on my desk and I can see the Executive taking it's place. It's a joy to use.
I won't post any pictures of me cutting my nails, I don't want to gross anyone out. I do want to mention it however. The scissors are on par with what I expect from Victorinox, but the nailfile surprised me! Perhaps I mentioned it before. But it's really aggressive. It leaves my nails super smooth in no time. A very pleasant surprise indeed. The pattern on the file is something I have not seen from Victorinox before. It's either cross hatched (like on my Handyman) or a rough surface (like the MiniChamp). This Executive just has parallel ridges.

I used the scissors at work a couple of times, can't really show any photos of that because of patient privacy. I opened a box of fluorescein for example, but can't show a photo because of the brand. So here is a post angiography examination photo. The yellow dye is fluorescein, the green is indocyanine. I'm not going into detail, but what it does is make vessels (and leakage) visible in the eye.

The rest of the day was hard work and not very eventfull for the Executive.
Untill the end of the day. I had to wait for my girlfriend again and bought a cocos bar for her and me along with tea. The large blade helped me split the bar. Unfortunately she was late and I ate it all. Sorry about that.

And that wraps up another day. I'm going to take a bath and head to bed.

If you live at sea level, this doesn't look good and warns of yogurt gone bad. But, if you live at 7,000 feet like I do, then you're used to seeing swelled yogurt lids. And, you know not to open it without peircing the lid first to releive pressure. If you don't, you get a yogurt squirt gun. That's not fun.
Executive popped it just fine.

We need a toothpick merit badge. It's a fine little tool deserving of some respect.I agree. It's more versatile than some might imagine.
Great idea for the split ring. Do you have a picture of the finished EvoWood?
How's that carabiner working out for you, Sawman? It’s great except it can make holding the Executive a little awkward while using the long blade or peeler. I’ve gotten used to it. :tu:
Sorry you couldn't join us!Of course I'll join next time!

Day 5
Orange peeler in action :)
I'm liking this knife so much I might have to get my own!
Cool. :tu:
What is that device next to the Executive? Looks very specialized. Or like a crazy book marker.
But, ohhh..., what a great package! It surprises me that no-one seems bothered looking at other members packages. :o
Really like your way to writing and describing :tu:
It bothered me that I didn't really use the Executive today. But thinking back about that I don't think that much of an issue. I carry a Handyman and a folder on me every day. There is a Cybertool 34 in my backpack and a ResqueTool in my car. Some aren't used for days, some not for weeks.
It's the fact that you carry your knife that makes it possible to use it, if the need arises.
I am jealous of those of you carrying an Executive with your fancy files and orange peelers. You sophisticated lot, how lucky are you, with that extra layer.
Something will come up for the Executive to be used.
I took my lovely wife to Tuscano's Brazilian bbq to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. No, the Executive wasn't used to cut steak. But, the toothpick was definitely used.Congratulations on 16 years

What is so essential about the orange peeler and the long nailfile that Mr Yeager chose to carry an Executive rather than an Ambassador?

So far, Bill, I haven't done anything with the Executive that the Ambassador couldn't have done equally well. And with less bulk and weight. Edge: Ambassador.
But....I am becoming fond of using that weird little orange peeler tool. It's not that it's better at anything, except maybe opening a beer bottle, but it is fun to use.

I like to drink coffee, but I prefer to mix normal coffee with decaffeinated, about an half for each.
Today it's time to open new packet.
I have a question that needs to be asked (and answered).

Used the straight edge on the peeler on Day 8 to tighten an outlet screw.
I chose the Executive due to the inclusion of a 2nd smaller blade, as well as the better file and for the orange peeler/utility tool.I have a question that needs to be asked (and answered).

As much as I admire General Yeager, I have also wondered that. What does the exec give me in real world advantage that even a classic can't do? Knife blade? Check. SD tip? Check. Scissors? Check. Tweezers? Check. Nail file? Check. Spare knife blade? Just sharpen the one you have, so check.
The exec is a mystery to me. Look at all the backpackers who carry a classic, to include the guru of backpacking guru's, Colin Fletcher.

I have got 3 executive :D
One with coloured scales taken from an ambassador limited edition, one red with Hoffritz logo, and another one red, for backup ;)
Yes, I really like Executive!
After edc a manager for 10 years, I discover the executive, and it became my new edc. That's beause it's really small and I can't feel difference carring it compared to the manager, gaining a better file, a second plain blade and the one serrated. I lose the pen, but often I have one in my bag, so it don't mind for me.
Also, my multitool fever is still increasing, so every Vic I see is a potential edc

We have a lot of deer that come through the yard. This time of year, the big bucks are making their mark on everything they can to claim their turf and woo those does. Today I put up some fencing to keep the bucks from tearing up the bark on the Aspen trees any more than they already have. I used rebar to stake the fencing into the ground. The Exec small blade came in handy for opening bundles of rebar:

So I had to do my favorite Chicken Test with the Executive. I feel that no challenge is complete for me without cutting up a chicken.
This time, I decided to "spatchcock" my chicken for the grill this evening. The toughest part of spatchcocking a chicken is removing the backbone. I usually do this with a big tough chef's knife or even a pair of kitchen shears. However, here I used the 74mm blade to carefully cut out the backbone and joint the hips.
I then removed the ribs and cleaned up a few other bones. The large blade made quick work of removing the ribs. After that, I flipped the bird over and took out the wishbone. This lets the chicken lie flat on the grill and cook evenly. The slim 74mm blade was perfect for this job.
I was really impressed with the way the Executive handled this task. Like I said earlier, I usually use a bigger, heavier knife to muscle my way through bones and joints. With the Executive, I used a more delicate and precise approach, and it paid off. The blade was still extremely sharp after I got done. I did touch it up on a ceramic rod to restore it to hair-cutting sharp.
The Executive continues to impress!
(And, yes, I cleaned the knife well after using it to cut up chicken. :D)
October 10thI believe that someone added the 58mm tiny Philips and bottle opener combo tool to the executive.
My Executive hasn't seen any use today. It rides silently in my pocket.
While I on occasion have the feeling I've lost it, it's a good thing. I barely know it's there.
That said, I sometimes miss the hook on my Handyman which I play with when it's in my pocket.
I've been looking online for any cool Executive mods, but couldn't find any. It appears the Executive is not that popular. Though I recon it has a very loyal fanbase.
I did find this image to drool over though:

My 2DS's screen broke (it used to be, I could put small electronics in my back pocket just fine ,but I've gotten heavier, and the electronics flimsier), so I took it apart to see how hard the screen would be to replace (both screens are in one module). It's a bit easier than I thought. I used the tweezers and toothpick to remove connectors and chase down screws. I broke the ribbon cable for the rear cameras, so that'll have to be replaced as well. Luckily nothing was glued in.

I would never prep an uncooked chicken with any folding knife.
Prudent perspective, Trad. I understand why you say so.
I grew up with a grandfather who would field dress a deer with a Case Trapper. And then cut up his ham and onion sandwich with the same blade. I think we, as a current generation, are a bit more squeamish and germ-a-phobic than our ancestors. Of course, we also have a longer life expectancy......
Still, I figure that if I carry a folder, I should feel confident using it. I often carry a fixed blade knife, just because it is so much easier to clean. But not everyone can legally carry a 'fixie' and I think it's a good idea to figure out how to carry, use, clean, maintain, and sharpen one's folder.
I have read some user reviews that include complaints about being unable to sufficiently clean the file. I wonder if that is an issue for any of you in this challenge.
I have read some user reviews that include complaints about being unable to sufficiently clean the file. I wonder if that is an issue for any of you in this challenge.
Great question, Jim. I haven't run into this yet.
I have a couple of ideas about cleaning the file. First, a good soak and wipe with kerosene. Kerosene is a great cleaner. Or you could use Ballistol or WD-40. Both of those are good cleaners as well. Perhaps a penetrating oil like Blaster or Break Away.
If those don't work, I might try using an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner with either Simple Green or kerosene. Might need a light brushing with a brass brush as well. Last thing I'd try would be soaking a file in a 50/50 solution of acetone and Ford ATF. I know that sounds odd, but I've heard that it works wonders on old oxidation. Combine that with a brass brush or brass wool, and I think you'd see great results.
Please let us know what you end up using and what actually works!
Undeserving, I'm sure. But, thank you just the same. I'm having fun and really trying to use this knife as The one tool. Away from home, I have yet to want for more. At home in the woodshop, I've got dedicated tools.10-11

I concur. While being more 'clean' than our ancestors we also have more allergies because of it. For example from over filtration of air (or the lack of cleaning filters) in buildings.

I haven't had a problem cleaning any multi-tool files from regular use, worst case a little bit of work with a brush (old toothbrush, nail brush, etc) is plenty.
For cleaning blades etc. I use plain 91% rubbing alcohol all the time, zaps all the adhesive residue and smears from opening packages and the like. Victorinox stainless is particularly easy to wipe clean with a little isopropyl in my experience.
If you're talking about removing rust, I haven't had that specific issue... but if it were me, based on experience with cleaning other tools I'd let it soak in some vinegar to break down the oxidation, then try a simple brush since that can get in between the teeth. I'd start with a soft brush, and if that doesn't work maybe a metal brush. A dremel with wire wheel is also really good at rust removal, I've used that many times on old tools and the small bristles are helpful for getting in detail areas.
Good luck... if you have any success let us know! :tu:

I'm planning on a 4000 mile road trip, starting tomorrow. Having at least a slight sense of responsibility, I decide to give the truck a going over. Checked fluids, lights, tire pressure, and made sure that there is a fresh pack of chewing gum in the glove box. The Executive blades got a touch-up, too. I'm feeling ready. I'll try to post to this thread via Taptalk as I go.
After overfilling the tires, I used the tip of the nail file tool to reduce the tire pressure to spec. Quite handy.

The Executive was on food duty today. Again.
For lunch I spread my jam, I'm getting used to the small blade.
I couldn't make a picture because my phone was in my backpack.
Usually I carry it in my labcoat, but one of the pockets tore.
I had some miso soup early in the afternoon. The scissors made short work of the packets. Here is the Executive posing with the miso.

Tonight I made dinner and it was the perfect time for a little challenge: peeling and cutting potatoes.

Executive blade trial: peeling potatoes
I expected it to fail. But then again, so did I when I cut my croissant a few days ago.
The large blade is super sharp and thin. It cuts through the potatoes with very little resistance. Nice clean cuts. The length of the blade can prove a problem, as some potatoes are thicker than the blade length. I also noticed that it's harder to peel the skin of in thin pieces. Other than that it performed very well.
One thing to keep in mind is the juices of the potatoes running in the Executive when peeling and cutting. I had to keep an eye on that.

Executive peeling succes!
I did some more turning on my walking stick which I'll cover in more detail here. https://www.edcforums.com/threads/pocket-full-of-kryptonite.130576/page-4#post-2652174 (https://www.edcforums.com/threads/pocket-full-of-kryptonite.130576/page-4#post-2652174).
I used the Executive to open the box of rubber tips.

When smartphone doesn't existed, I always edc a little mag lite. But recently , if I needed a light, I used the flash of the smartphone.
In the last days I decided to reinsert a light in my edc, because it's more effective.
The Executive helped me to open the blister of the my new toy 😀

...Sometimes, when I want to control my weight and alimentation, I try to write on a paper all the things I eat. It's useful and make me conscious.I've used an app for that a couple of times, just to see how many calories I was having each day. It's a real eye-opener so see how much breakfast, lunch and dinner take off of the advised daily calorie intake!
If only Executive had a pen, it could be possible do it during the challenge 😀...
Great thread!! Day 15: some P51 action.

Day 15
Today I have used scissors to cut a piece of plastic. We were at restaurant and I have no pics.
When returned home, the Executive posed with my cat :)
My concerns about this challenge's purchase influence was well founded. Last night, I saw an excellent Executive with a buy-it-now price that I couldn't resist and I ended up purchasing my 7th Executive (5th purchase since this challenge started). I was already tracking a very nice older model that looks new so there is a possibility that I will still try to purchase it.
I mentioned that one Executive that I had purchased had a significantly blemished nail file. Upon further inspection, it looks like a touch of rust near the pivot point and there is also a chip in the scales.
(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4478/36953073804_09ff993b29_b.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/Yiqaq9)Executive Nail File - Before (https://flic.kr/p/Yiqaq9) by NorCal Jim (https://www.flickr.com/photos/148245174@N07/), on Flickr
I went back for another look at the auction to see how I could have missed these problems and discovered that the description was that it was very good with only minor wear and the picture showed a nail file in perfect condition. That's when I noticed that the seller had used a single photo to sell 10 Executive SAKs that were obviously in various conditions. After contacting the seller to see if he had one in better condition, he is sending me another and letting me keep the one badly in need of rehabilitation. This will bring my Executive count up to eight while still presenting me with a tough rehab challenge.
So why do I keep buying more Executives? My theory is that I really want to be using a pristine rehab'd Executive but am delayed with my own rehab from an upper arm wound. Since my three new Executives have not yet arrived, I keep jumping at used Executives in excellent condition.
Anybody else succumbing to the lure of the Executive after seeing the daily posts from this challenge?

Had an interesting discovery this evening. I live in Southern California, subject to heavy, hot winds this time of year, called the Santa Anas. Last week, a gust caused out back fence to wobble. Suspecting a cracked post, we braced the fence with a letter to help stabilize it.Ahh... The Santa Anas. I remember them well. pretty soon someone will mention something about earthquake weather. I'm flying into Ontario soon and wonder if I'll see rain.
Fast forward to today. I clear out the gravel base, and see that there's a cavity at the base of the affected post. Crap. I'll have to dig it out and cement in a new post.
Why am I writing about fence repair in this thread? Because we're expecting rain later this week, I didn't want my ladder left out to rust. I took some spare carving wood, shaved it down to size with my Executive, and shimmed up my fence post with a sledge mallet and wood to where the rocking is fairly minimal. Not pictured is how the heck this happened. The wood doesn't seem rotted, so I dunno.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171016/22d57fda86b75f538982345e2eabda0f.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171016/7887fb96171568c9402c768014be77e4.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171016/337785272638d0293add84cf2a53f6fa.jpg)

It's an arm, but it has a gripper towards the end. It's really not a robot, provided it uses a wired remote control.

Throughout this challenge, my regard for the Executive (that I previously had ignored) has grown substantially. My Executive collection has also grown from an initial two (bid on two auctions hoping to get one and got both) to eight. Three are new, one has a nail file that is severely blemished (seller sent me another and told me to keep the other), one is in excellent shape and two are cleaned, oiled and ready for sanding/polishing of tools. I have been using the used/excellent shape Executive for paracord/lanyard duty. Those are much prettier than mine. I have to say with all sincerity, that without the spring alignment groove on the scissors, they are nearly useless. The spring pops to the side, and control of the scissors is lost. Cutting paracord was not the straight forward affair that it is with other knives. The scissors on my Money Clip are much, much easier to use. Unfortunately, I think my Explorer will find its way back into daily use come November. Too bad. I've nearly gotten by fine without the Explorer/Classic combo.
The two latest arrived today from Amazon...

I just had a chance to examine the Executives that I purchased thus far and found two with no groove as you described. However, both of them worked without popping to the side. The other six including all three of my new Executives had the groove. I did notice that the two without the groove did not cut as well as the others (at least a couple of samples with grooves). I even tried a 58mm scissors and that cut better than the two non-grooved Executives. I purchased a new blue scaled Executive and won a lengthy bid on an older Executive in pristine condition. I expect the blue scaled Executive to have the groove and the older model to not have one. Thanks for pointing out the scissor groove issue because I missed it!

Turned out that the screw was a little loose, AND the spring was leaning towards one side a little bit. Tightened the screw, and pushed the spring near the base to straighten it up.

I drove down to Texas to pick up a vintage Morton motorcycle. It's not running right now, but hopefully a little pampering will bring it back to life.
Executive got used a few times today to open small packages of peanuts. For that task the small blade worked better than the orange peeler tool.

Day 21
Want to reach the kid oil and empty the tube, so I have cut it and now can take oil with the finger.
Nice bike Nix!! I love old British bikes! For day 20 I used the tweezers to help me top off the fluid in my Zippo.
Going minimal carry, has convinced that for me the funniest part is rotating edc and choosing what to carry. For the 90% of the task that I do, and probably more, Executive is sufficient. But during these days I'm still looking to my sak, thinking that when challenge will ended, I will carry my swiss champ for some days, and then start rotating as usually.
And again, excuse me for all the mistakes in my post 😯

I think we need to figure out a way of featuring the Executive on an on-going basis ...:tu:
the Executive Owners' Group (maybe even the Executive Lounge)
Day 23
Orange peeler in action. It's windy and cold is arriving, so having vitamin C is a good idea for its benefits.
I felt like i had to try this so just went online, ordered myself a executive and its arriving tuesday.
Only down side, i’m only arriving home again thursday so I can only officially start this challenge on friday! Better late than never, I’ll keep you guys posted!
Great to have you joining us on this challenge.
If I don't get everything done that I want to do in the 30 days, I may extend a little. We'll see how that goes; I may start getting itchy for a Soldier! However, up to this point (and we're 2/3's the way through) it has been a very nice challenge to do. As others have said, I have learned that I like EDCing a knife more than I really need to EDC a knife. Still, there are moments when I'm really glad I remember to carry one!
I'd love to see more pics of your Norton when you can.
Oct 23:I'd love to see more pics of your Norton when you can.
Oh, dear, Barry. This may be a case of be careful of what you wish. As much as I like taking pictures of SAK, I love even more pictures of motorcycles.
This Norton will be a project bike. It sat without running in the Texas heat for about 5-years or more. A number of things to put right. She turns over but doesn't fire up. The battery won't stay charged. The rear brake is locked up and the front brake doesn't hold fluid. The engine mount bolts need to be replaced. The carbs need cleaning and tuning. The tires go flat and need to be replaced. The battery cover is held on with a cable tie.
Yes, it was love at first sight.

And for challenge purposes, my Exec is resting over the battery cover.....

Carrying the Executive has become second nature now. I find it caries really easily and it proves to be a very practical knife.
At first I was using the orange peeling tool a good bit, but, after a while, I found that the small blade is more useful for most tasks. The small blade has become my default blade for opening packages, cutting string, and other mundane tasks. The larger blade generally gets used for food-related tasks, and there are always lots of those. :D
I find the serrations on the orange peeler tool can snag on some materials and don't cut thick paper as well as the simple small blade. I do still need to try to use the orange peeler to cut a zip tie (cable tie); I suspect it will work well for that.
So, I'm still a bit up in the air about the Executive vs the Ambassador. The nail file on the Exec is really very good, and the little spear point on the file works nicely for opening up the little vent holes in the lid of a disposable coffee cups, as well as letting air out of tires, light prying, and, of course, nail cleaning. The nail file might be the reason to go with the Executive over the Ambassador, but that is a mighty slim advantage given all that the Ambassador has to offer in a slightly smaller package.
(Oddly, I now have two Executives and only one Ambassador.)
But the challenge continues and I'm sure there is more to learn!
I love the idea of a Blue Scales version. Can you put up a photo for us?
Oct 24th
I have some clothes that can't be reused, so I cut them in smaller pieces than can be useful to clean. The serrated blade is perfect, works better than blades and scissor, specially where there are thick seams.
I'll have to check my Execs for this groove that keeps getting mentioned. I never noticed its presence of lack there of.

Just for kicks, here's what amounts to my EDC. Less my Galaxy S4, used for pictures. I tend not to carry much in my pockets. Assorted pens and a watch (Bulova moon watch) make an appearance during work hours.

Good going! The groove is hard to capture. I went on line to see if I could find a photo showing the groove and this was the closest I could come (note: you have to magnify the photo to see the darkened area that is the groove):

Question: how easy is it to get replacement scales? ???
Oh, by the way, that Blue Executive looks great.

A little cleaning this morning.
Much of my Executive-related activity during this challenge has been to thoroughly clean and inspect my new acquisitions (I think I am up to 11, 4 of which are new). I have been carrying and using an Executive for two weeks and finding that it is as useful and it is easy to carry. Since the weather has been warm lately, I have been wearing gym trunks around the house. These have pockets that would be two thin for a 91mm SAK but are perfect for the 74mm Executive. Last night, I changed out two tooth brushes with the replacements encased in hard to open packages--a simple task for my trusty Executive!
Jim

Have you run into any issues where the Exec didn't cut the mustard???
Opened a pack of razors this morning with the blade, then used the scissors a couple times to open candy wrappers.Interesting...

I like using Balistol to clean metal things. Balistol is a gun oil developed in Germany in the early 20th Century. It has some ability to clean mild oxidation and is a nice lubricant that offers some corrosion resistance. I use it clean firearms, where it does a great job. It's relative safe from an exposure point of view (as far as I know), so I don't worry about food issues. I do take care to wipe off the blades thoroughly though.

Or an Yeager Challenge award. Just sayin'...(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171027/a0f8f9b2593076e957f83effaa14c739.jpg)

I have floated the idea of a recurring topic called the Executive Lounge where we can continue to display the beauty and utility of these very useful Swiss Army Knives after the Chuck Yeager Challenge is completed.

(Still waiting for that executive lounge!)
Did quite a variety of things with it today, it helped install a new boiler at the office, I opened some post and because it’s my first ever orange peeler that i’ve got i had to try it out! Works like a charm!
Took the picture to show the aftermath. (Sorry for the bad lighting.

...At church, someone decided to lock the ladies handicap stall and crawl out from under the door. My Mom has ALS and is in a wheelchair. She couldn't get into the stall and needed in pronto. I was able to unlock it with the Executive. Talk about emotional motivation...That's just no fun at all. I'm always in for a joke, but locking a handicapped stall is unfair. Luckily you were there to save the day. :salute:
Sounds like a great day, Fast Bill. Any luck?
Barry, I've got a pumpkin waiting to be transformed into a Jack O'lantern. I'll give the Executive a shot!
Nice!

Oct 29:
While thinking about hunting pheasant, I was out tinkering in the garage. I had secured an extention cord to a shelf with cable tie to prevent it from being pulled out. Shifting things around a bit, I used the orange peeler to remove said cable ties.
This may be my new favorite use for this tool. I'm thinking of renaming it the "Cable Tie Cutter" (CTC). The blunt, chisel tip allows one to safely force the CTC between cord and tie. The teeth dig into the edge of the tie and snap it with a satisfying 'pop'. Short of some wire snips, the CTC is the way to go for this task. Victorinox should add the CTC to the Electrician.
Your off to a great start. Stay the course!Think I’m just used to using vic’s and other MT’s a lot! Now being down to just one is definitely making my pockets a lot lighter.
Sounds like a great day, Fast Bill. Any luck?

It was nice to be out again Nix, now the season has started, but to be honest it's too mild and we need a good frost. I annoyed a couple of crows but no more.

This morning I noticed that the screws were loose, so I tried to fix them. If I will not solve , probably I will add some glue.
Great job everyone!! My Executive with my shortwave receiver, a Grundig G5. I've been listening to SW broadcast since I was a boy and have always enjoyed it.

Same here. I used to have a Grundig Yacht Boy which is very much like the G5. I´ve had various Sony and Philips SW radios as well, but my pride and joy is a Radio Holland receiver from the early sixties. It´s a state of the art superheterodyne, one of the first to be fully transistorized, i.e. no bulbs. It weighs over 20 kilograms. When still a boy living with my parents, I had an entire wall of my room covered with QSL cards from all over the world.
Once, over 30 years ago, while I was listening to Nigeria´s national broadcasting, there was a coup d´état by the military; it turned out I was the first one in the Netherlands to know about this. Included with the QSL I got an official portrait of the new general in command.
Edit. This was president Gowon (1975-1976). I had to look it up on WikipediA. The radio announcer informed the world that armed military men had entered the studio and were taking control. This was a coup d´état without bloodshed, but Gowon was killed soon after.
:like: It worked surprisingly well Nix! Bill is right, though, in that the fish scaler works better than anything else for pumpkin carving.
I've yet to get out Bill, but you've got me thinking!!Sounds like a great day, Fast Bill. Any luck?

And to finalize this challenge; As a user that's been carrying an Executive as my only EDC blade for decades, it brings a smile to my face to read this.
I haven’t posted a lot, but I’ve kept to the challenge all along. It’s proven to be a great little tool and, though I was sceptical, it’s proven me that I can do with less than full sized multitools on me.
I’ve been carrying around just the exec and my light.
Frankly, even though i’ve never had one before, the most used tool is the orange peeler!!
The two tiny knives are great for what i use them for daily anyway. I’m going to continue with my current setup for a while!
