Switchplier 2.0 has useless cutters...
Can they cut anything at all?
Other than that, I love the tool, absolutely love it.
My pliers wont meet perfectly at the tip, but it doesn't bother me that much.

Still got mine (and the original too for that matter) but don't use it. The original was stylish and sleek, and the plier head folded away completely. The newer ones have lost that, and replaced it with gears of madness which aren't even gears - where the heck was the logic in that?!?! Take the negative aspect of a previous feature, which makes the tool significantly less comfortable to use, but don't actually couple it with any compound leverage.... :think:
Also, the only configuration in the new one which means you won't have to deploy the pliers is the bit driver stump - which means you need to carry a bit set. Yes, you could put together a configuration with the Phillips, but it won't open past the pliers, and being a #1 is often incapable of handling a #2 screw which is far more common in my experience.
The new gives usable pliers and a pocket clip, but loses the style and comfort of the old. Nett result is that I carry something else instead :shrug:

I really like the 2.0. It is a nice tool, I just wish it wasn't quite as fancy as it is. I think I would appreciate a more plain version, without all of the fancy designs all over it that make it look more like a toy than the useful tool it is.
Looks aside, I find it to be a nice, convenient every day carry tool.

I just got one of theese and I like it a lot so far.
Its a lot sturdier than I thought it would be, just looking at pics.
By the way, has anyone ever had an accident with one deployoing in the pocket?
Chakos incident with a Gerber Recoil comes to mind...

Not me. The button requires a decent enough push that I don't recall it ever firing off unwanted.

I just got my 2.0 today via UPS/USPS from Amazon. I am still playing with the tool to check it out. It seems well made, the plier tips are lined up perfect, the finish is top notch throughout and the tools are good SOG quality. I like it so far, but don't have any photos yet. I think I will carry it in my pocket rather than use the pocket clip. I also have a couple of other SOG multitools a few years old, a ParaTool is among them. Thanks.

Many SOG tools, including the Switchplier, are meant to be customisable in terms of tool set. The standard configuration that it comes with is the PH1 driver, which needs you to deploy the pliers to get it out. If you switch this for the bit driver stump, you can get this out without deploying the pliers - although you do of course have to get the adaptor and relevant bit out from wherever you keep them.....

i'm in the club, i've got a switchplier 2 since 1 year now, but i don't use it.
The plier is too weak and the inner tools hard to access. i often open all the tools just to access the bottle opener.
And i've got problem with the pliers when i excers a bit of force on it (i had done a video last year to show it), i've repaired it a bit but my wave is still better. When i press hard, the handles open a bit and the locking mechanism of the jaw disengage.

I intend to join, but before I pull the trigger (in march, I'm regenerating funds in february) I have a couple of question I hope you can help me answer:
- Given the choice would you prefer version 1.0 or 2.0 and why?
- Do all of the available internal SOG tools fit either version (not all at once, obviously). Im especially curious about replacing the knife blade with a wire stripper or the c4 spike

Same here — couldn't have said it better myself. I've decided to sell mine. It's interesting, the pliers are fun, but it's just not a good tool for me.

I got one, too. I love my SP with custom loadout :-)

T14 reporting for duty.
Swapped out the knife, "phillips ::)" and "file ::)" for a saw, v-cutter and large flathead.
Next step is to regrind the "can't opener" into a dedicated longer shank small flathead driver.
