I`m in.
I guess I'm in... :D:salute: Many a pulse were bought on impulse. I felt remorse but that has definitely disappeared
I actually just got this today. Odd little story. Doing some title work way out of state, and running a real beast of a title. (The owners were...colorful, to say the least.) To make up for it, my good friend, the supercool land agent, volunteered to give me a tour of the actual property. Fairly rural area. Beautiful drive. While out there, we stopped at the little general store which part of the family owned. Cool little place, of just the type you don't see any more. In the back, they had a little hunting & fishing section. As I was wandering about, I looked in one of the cases, and there it was. NIB. Leather sheath, papers, everything.
I did actually fight myself on it. But I made the mistake of having one of the girls in the store get it out of the case for me. That settled it. It's mine now. :multi:
I recently bought a pulse to replace my lost fuse, and to be honest (I know, wrong place to say), I think I prefer the fuse, except of course for the awesome file in the pulse.
I'm in! PULSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We need photographic evidence, Kel.. :pok: ;)
 It's going to get better though, right?
Excellent shots loepis.. :tu:Thank you Allan :)
Patience mate.. It's a long way... :D :DExcellent shots loepis.. :tu:Thank you Allan :)

What's that supposed to mean?
You can blame it on USPS :P
The Pulse I have has a grooved file and has date codes of 0900 and 1000.
Mine has a grooved file and the date codes are 0401 on both of the handles.

No groove in mine, date codes are: 0401 and 0801. So it would seem the change happened mid way through 2001.
Anyone else want to jump in with some extra dates?
Could any of you fine lads and lasses please show me how you go about opening the scissors on your Pulses? It's the implement that gives me the most pain combined with clumping... :-\ I mean, is there some better/cleverer way than "bring out the clump of tools, push the rest of the clump back in watching not to cut yourself, bring the scissors to the full open position, push the rest of the clump back in (since it opened up again during the last step)"?
another club i can join once i get it :D sellers pic, i know nothing about its year etc yet ;)Good score Paul... :tu: :tu:

I think you'll like it Paul. :tu:
I've never owned a Wave to do a side-by-side comparison, but the Pulse is sized like a thicker PST if that helps.I think you'll like it Paul. :tu:
i thin i will gareth, :tu: is it the same size roughly as a wave

Congrats!
I have the Pulse and its big brother, the ST 200. The Pulse was only my second multitool; I bought it to replace my PST to curb the blood loss.
It is, indeed, like a slightly larger PST II by virtue of having the same tools with the addition of them locking open. I can post a pic tonight of the Pulse, an original Wave, and a new Wave together if you like.
The Pulse is great multitool :tu:
I had a mint condition one but didn't want to rough it up; don't tell Ben (http://forums.mg-rover.org/images/smilies/sofa.gif)
It was fun to own; now it resides in the US of A :D
The pulse is a great tool, with a nice selection in a slim package.
The locks take a bit of getting used to.
Here's a tip if you have adequate finger nails:
Use them to push the locks from their edge instead of using a finger on the outer grooves, it's much easier that way :tu:
It's a beauty! Welcome to the club.
It's a beauty! Welcome to the club.
:tu: it took me a few goes to work out the lock buttons , i actually like them now, wasnt sure at first, i like the diamond file as love the one on the wave and like the scissors a lot, cool MT , like a pst2 with locks :tu:

and, you know, comfortable and stuff.. :D
How do you guys release the locks? Do you let it 'snap' back to position? I like the unusual locks but the knocking sound worries me. I tend to unlock the tools the Supertool method to avoid that. Or I release it gently.
Here's mine
I had to think about how I let go of the locks, seems I gently guide them closed part way then let go.
looks nice in red, did you use the nail varnish method ;) i used it a lot on G-shocks :tu:
I had to think about how I let go of the locks, seems I gently guide them closed part way then let go.
Yes that seems like it would limit any damage done (though I don't expect damage at all). On the topic, I was wondering if anyone has seen a damage locking mechanism... the pivot at the slider seem like it is subjected to a lot of pressure! :think:looks nice in red, did you use the nail varnish method ;) i used it a lot on G-shocks :tu:
You're right Zed! :tu: In fact, I bought it to be used on my G-Shocks. I went through many shades of red before deciding on this one. Must have looked funny for a guy testing nail varnish  However I changed my mind later after seeing a bezel that had damage from Goo-Gone (maybe too much?). So it was just sitting there until today.
Anyway, on steel it looks a lighter red in real life, more like undried (liquid) blood. It is a Pulse after all. ;)
I also read that some people uses china crayons but unfortunately I do not have any on hand. I would really like to know whether there is any difference between the two, in terms of resistance to rubbing off, or even corrosion!
I'm thinking of doing it in blue next. :multi:
I have never seen any damaged pulse or ST200 locks, and I have given mine a thorough workout.
BTW blue would look really nice :D
From reading this thread I wonder what the oldest date codes are for the Pulse...it seems a few of us have handles with 0900/1000 date code pairs but nobody has posted anything earlier.I recalled mine were stamped with 2000 dates, but couldn't recall the month. Sure enough; they were both 1100.
I have on ein the Mail dues any day now so will pop a pic up asap along with it's big Bro ST200

I think I'm going to sell my pulse.I solved that problem by getting multiples of it. :pok: :D
It don't ever use it B/c its in MINT condish.

Honestly I can somewhat sympathise, I always got the same way when buying a shiny new SAK or MT. The first tiny little blemish always makes me sad, but it's never stopped me using one. Keep in mind it's still a tool (a damn good one at that) and it's whole purpose was to be used. :pok:
Excellent shots badwolf. :cheers:Thanks  probably best not to look at the smiley section right now (http://ic2.pbase.com/u41/weed30/upload/26998156.flowers.gif) will this help.
 Gareth and Mat, the roll locks fascinate me, hence some close up pics. I never quite new how they worked, now I know, its an example of Leatherman quality and design, really nice piece of engineering. Update on date codes 1000/1000 forgot its on both handles. As a little side not, just realised my Side Clip has four date codes :tu:
It's been a few months since we had anyone new sign up to the club, any new members out there? :pok::cheers:

Yes !
I´m in this club to now.
Actually first time I have one in my hand. It´s really shiny and nice, not a perfect sample but I don´t mind.
Didn´t know it was so like pstII toolwise but a little thicker. I like the rounded off feeling of it and it´s very cool looking.
Dang, I've got to dig out my Pulse and carry it now, it's been far too long. :D
Doesn't have the horrible part serrated blade you got on the PST II, thankfully. ;) I also much prefer the scissors on the Pulse. :)Yes that´s true. And I noticed that the knife and the file is slightly larger as well.

No, sorry Terry, you can't. :( But your daughter can. ;)

my favorite mid sized leatherman.
+1 Count me in too!
I think they look okay.
Count me in as well! Mine has the same DOM as yours Aloha, 1000 on both sides. :D
The pulse has the best lanyard ring out of ALL the leatherman tools I own
I really hate the rebar/st300/sidekick ect ring its always in the way.
I reckon you'll love it! :multi:
And if you don't,there's a place here for it at Blamington Hall ;)
Did the scissors end up being okay?? Something about the look of the Pulse just does it for me.

Well worth waiting for I'd say. Let us know what you think of it once it gets there. :tu:
So shiny :o :D It really looks good neil :tu: Loving the sheath as well
I have finally joined the club.
I got mine for $35. It's in mint condition, never used. Stamped date 1000. I love it.
But I have no conscience to use it as my EDC. Maybe it will be my suit tool?
And I'm back in. I sold my last pulse due to financial strain, but I got another mint condition pulse off ebay the other day. I won't keep getting this lucky, every pulse I've bought has been in mint condition and I've never paid more than $60 for one. I might snag another if I see a good deal just in case, they are getting harder to find.

Great to hear it mate. :tu: I remember you drooling over the idea of a Pulse years ago and it'd be a shame if you didn't have one. In fact it's a shame that not everybody has one. :D

I've had a few, and sold them for various reasons. One being that it was too pretty/rare to use and I was scared to scar it up. I won't be doing that again. I've proven to myself that even with really hard use, I don't break my Leatherman tools. That's not to say they won't ever break, but I'm not prone to it. I have beat the hell out of my Rebar and it still looks new after I give it a good cleaning. The pliers show a bit of wear but all in all, it looks fantastic. I mean, I've used that tool as a hammer countless times and it's fine.
So yea, the pulse is riding on my belt as I type! It is a fantastic model and I'm truly saddened that it wasn't produced for a longer run.
What we need is for LM to do a Rebar with the Pulse tool selection. I'd buy one for sure.
Absolutely! I'm not sure why the didn't to be honest, the blast was much closer to ideal tool loadout than the rebar is. I'm in the minority on this one, but I must say I absolutely love the small screwdriver on the PST/Pulse/Supertool. I really miss that when I carry my rebar.

A cross between the Blast and the Rebar would be ideal :D I love the scissors on my Blast and way back when it won out over the Wave to me because it was essentially the same tool without any OHO blades and not as fancy  You know that may be why they discontinued the Blast and it's brothers  People may have been choosing them over the Wave and it's family tree because of the similar tool loadout and functionality and that would have caused a drop in profit :o Guess we will never know though :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :D

Could be. Whatever the reason, it was inevitable because a lot of folks strongly disliked the zytel handles. I never had any issues with them at all. They aren't as good as rolled edges but they aren't bad by any stretch.
As for the pulse, I think they could have done away with the rocker portion of the lock and left it like the Supertool locks were and they might have sold more.
If you do not have a pulse you might be dead...
No, you are an Alien :ahhh

Yeah, sorry mate, but you're wrong there. :D If I could bring myself to do it I'd have the small screwdriver from my Sideclip and swap it into my Pulse. THAT would be an awesome MT. 8)

Poncho.. If it have lock like that, it would become a rebar..
I was watching a bit or Ray Mears last night and spotted him with a Pulse. No idea if it's his or not, but I can't think I've seen him with any other MT in any of his shows.

Not necessarily ;) It would be a bit thinner (closer to the Fuse's width as the rolling locks made it thicker than it could have been) than the Rebar as it only allows for 2 long tools plus it has a better stock toolset to me (except for not having an awl) and also has the better diamond file :tu:

An older one; Extreme Survival series3 episode 1 Belarus. He uses it to pry open a coffee can which he has been using to make char cloth.

Nice work on that Pulse.
Nice pics Poncho.
Perhaps contact your local warranty department then and see what you would get for sending a Pulse in  :tu:
Nah, I never had the confidence to do it. I thought of that a long time ago, but one missed hit and I have a bent, warped Pulse on my hand, I don't wanna risk that.

I couldn't take it anymore, last night I bought a Pulse on ebay, so I'll be rejoining the club in a couple of weeks. The Pulse is such a great tool. :multi:

I'm excited about handling a Pulse again,
:nanadance: new page
Nice Barry , congrats ! :tu:
:woohoo: :multi:So, you are trying to say, it was a good impulse buy? :D
I'm back in the club! Finally, finally my new Pulse arrived after sitting at customs for weeks. After customs it turned out to be a pretty pricey purchase, around $100 in total, but I don't mind now, it's just a lovely tool in good condition. Very few scratches, miniscule rust spots and the list ends there. The tools are very-very lightly used or not used at all (for example the file is immaculate). I'm very happy, I just love the feeling of familiarity when holding a Pulse again!

Seriously though. I'm glad it got to you safely. The Pulse is one of those "must haves" in any multi-tool collection.
Very nice and what a great find !

Thank you for the welcome!
It has certainly been used, not aggressively but used, all of it. It has always traveled with me on my motorbike and outdoors and in Board rooms. How has it held up? As I gaze at my collectible (as I now know) it is pristine! Original leather pouch and all. I’ve always looked after it and now I’m really pleased about that.
Man, I like that. Thanks for sharing it with all the specials around it :2tu:
The Pulse is a great tool... and one reason why I'm after a ST200 .
No :-\ ...package was sent back to the southern hemisphere by Irish customs after weeks of waiting (bureaucracy at it's finest) Second try has started... maybe this time.
If it fails again give me a nudge. :)

Nice pics and cool tools :)
I recently purchased a Pulse, and I havent decided if I like the lock yet. I love how it works, but it feels like it might be the first thing that breaks on any of my tools.

Yay, thanks for digging that one up Steve. ::) I am assured that is what I sound like but I really don't like the sound of my own voice. Doesn't sound anything like the one inside my head. :D
Why is that ??? I sound so much better to myself :D then when I record it and listen it is nothing what I think I should sound like
Oh yeah, my internal voice is much better than the one everyone else has to listen too. :D
I'm thinking late Summer, early Fall?
 buddy! We need to have a locks up challenge!

I'll get myself a Pulse someday. If the locks up challenge is on for later in the year, I'll bump that up on the priority list.

Do you already have ST200?Not yet. I sought out a Pulse because I figured the ST200 might not be city-compliant. In time I'll add an ST200.
Farmer, if that Pulse with the Windows Server branding ever gives you problems, just close the tool then open it back up. :D
To delete the Windows Server 2003 you can use the command "format c: /fs:NTFS" :tu:
Congrats on the Pulse. Its a great tool that I wished came in BO.Me too!

The Pulse/ST200 has been on the top of my wishlist for a long time. By now I had given up on getting one, since the price always ended up around $300 with import taxes, and the fact that no sellers would ship it here.
I haven't seen it for sale in Norway, but yesterday someone listed one for $50. Fastest purchase I've ever made, as I was convinced I'd never lay my hands on one. It appears to be in great condition too. Very excited to get it over the weekend!:woohoo:
I received the Pulse yesterday but got occupied at work for way too long. Here it is in all of its glory! ::)

Mine still nice and shiny. I'll admit it doesn't get the use it once did, mainly because if I lost it or broke it, I'd struggle to replace it.

MB, they are still around but of course prices for them are higher than ever  Hopefully you can find one for a good price though :salute: :like:
Quick... I can't feel a pulse.
I've been looking for a proper Pulse to add to my rotation and just found this thread. It's been over a year since a reply so I figured to remedy that.
That is all. Carry on...
