Ladies and gentlemen of the forum. MTO is getting bigger and better but this comes at a price. Specifically the price for bigger servers and more bandwidth.
As such from here on in we are implementing an honour based payment system for using the trade section.
This won't be done formally and no one is going to come knocking at your door if you don't pay up on time but you know its the right thing to do :)
Suggested voluntary donations are as follows..
An item selling for under $10 make a $1 donation.
An item selling for under $50 make a $2 donation.
An item selling for over $50 make a $3 donation.
An item selling for over $100 make a $6 donation
When doing trades/swaps the person who puts the tool up for trade or the person who requests a particular item would be the one to make the donation. Value of donation based on value of the tool.
Money can be sent via the Donations (http://forum.multitool.org/index.php?action=treasury)option on top of the screen. Also every donated $10 makes you eligible for the monthly Donations draw prize when we do them. Please ensure that you take credit for your donation- if you donate as Anonymous, we can't include you in the Donation Draw.
Thanks for your support.
We also strongly suggest that new members who wish to sell items here introduce themselves in the New Members (http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/board,23.0.html) forum and allow us to get to know you a little. You'll be amazed how much more you'll sell if people know a little about you. :)

Bump (http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,21414.msg398271.html#msg398271)
Just a polite reminder or introduction if you're new. Servers don't grow on trees :)

Not too many forums charge a 10% fee for B/S/T. ::) I know, its my choice to not do it, but I really do want to help this forum be successful and I think the charges are out of line compared to most forums. :salute:
With all do respect of course... :D
-
Not all forums allow you the option of paying or not either. As you have pointed out, many forums make you pay or don't allow you access.
And the amount, like doing it or not, are just suggestions and not written in stone. Would you prefer if we just removed the numbers, since they really don't mean anything?

I would like to see a flat rate fee to use B/S/T. I think I'm a little misunderstood here, I care about MT.O and if I didn't I wouldn't bother. :salute:
-
Problem with a flat fee is that it'd be too big a chunk out of the many small items that are traded here.
Going by the suggested figures it only works out at 10% on items below $10. If you sold an item at $100 it'd be 3%.

Except for an $11 item it's 18%. :D I pay anyway, because without MT.O I couldn't sell anything. :)

Good point but those figures are only suggestions :)
-
What is the Paypal address for payments? :salute:

Suggested voluntary donations are as follows..
An item selling for under $10 make a $1 donation.
An item selling for under $50 make a $2 donation.
An item selling for over $50 make a $3 donation.
*cough* bump *cough* :D
-
I've been bad...I'm currently offering lots for sale, I will make donations as they go.

Bumping this as we have had a lot of new members recently who are using the trade section a lot... we haven't been seeing the donations roll in much in return.
Please try and donate at least the suggested amounts when you sell something here :)
-
Bumping this for the same reason... lots of new members around who may not have read it :pok:
-
A little bump and a reminder to please read the opening post (http://forum.multitool.org/index.php?topic=21414.msg398271#msg398271) :salute:

As far as the EDC store, what are the sales transaction fees? The listing fees are stated in the store, but I don't see any details on the mentioned transaction fee. Anyone know? Thank you.
-
Just putting it out there. I have sold off what I needed to and will tally up the total and pay up accordingly.
Thanks to sale thread I don't have to give money to The Bay of Fleas. I'd much rather donate here. :salute:

I posted a WTB for Vic Yeoman here: http://forum.multitool.or...ex.php/topic,68644.0.html (http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,68644.0.html)
I haven't bought one as such, but hiraethus is making me one from an Explorer and Compact I sent him, plus I'm paying for some Vic accessories I bought for him from Pizzini. I'm happy to donate something to help support the forum. Would something like $3 be appropriate in this situation?

Seeing as payments and donations have been mentioned a couple of times recently, this topic could do with a bump to make sure you're all familiar with the suggested donation amounts if you're selling/trading on here. :salute:

Understood.

Got it. Seems more than fair. :climber:

As Aloha007 mentioned, I’d rather support this community than “the bay” as well.
Thanks for such a great resource.

Nice bump. Its certainly better to give the money to MTO than bay of fleas, at least thats how I see it.
Thank you all who do.
