Title: Is this really CASE?
Post by: Aloha on February 11, 2019, 06:54:43 PM: Picked up this nice steak knife :dunno: for $1 plus a decent sheath. The marking on the blade is weird :think:. The wood is really actually quite nice in person and the blade sharpened up very nice. I used it as a paring knife and it did great. Likely gonna be my steak knife so it doesn't' really matter if it really is a Case knife. Mostly curious.

Yes, it is a Case....I have an 8" Case kitchen knife with the following printed on the blade:

CAP 283-8" PROCESS PAT
CASE XX STAINLESS NO. 2147079

It is the top one in the picture. The bottom one is a Craftsman 9" blade kitchen knife made by CASE for Craftsman.

I initially thought CutCo. It was interesting since it says Case's Stainless steel. Its a good little slicer and the guy had it in a sheath as if he carried it that way. I'll use it for steak as it was probably intended. The wood as I say is pretty nice.

They are no longer USA made, but were up until the 1990s. I have a couple paring knives by them, and they're pretty good.
