I guess this introduction is a month overdue, but better late than maglite.
Obviously I'm Norwegian as the pretty little flag says, I turn 23 in about a week so I guess I'm on the younger side of things on this forum. I finished my bachelor's degree in business administration a couple of months ago and just moved to a new city to do a one year course in English. I work as the associate editor for a website called Anything but iPod where I review MP3 players, writes guides and similar articles surrounding portable audio. I've also worked pro bono for some other tech sites over the years and recently started my own site at http://www.techplained.com/ which is just a side project when I feel like writing.
I've been a DIY geek for years and have a lot of projects listed on my personal website, http://andreasodegard.com/. Some more successful than others, but at least it's something to do. I've worked at a museum for the last 7 years (have my last day on Sunday), as sort of a janitor-ish position that has evolved a bit since they realized I knew more about computers than the rest of the staff (minus the IT guy) combined. That's where my multitool use really took off, and I started off with a LM PST before I moved on to a Skeletool a couple of years back. The pliers broke, and unaware of the International warranty I ended up buying a Skeletool CX before finding out about the warranty and having my original Skeletool repaired. The job requires a lot of tools and it lead me to star adding accessories to my CX. A spanner mod, DIY bit kit and stuff like that. I also started wearing a flashlight as part of my work-EDC and that resulted in about 10+ flashlights ordered for colleagues at the museum as you can't get anything like a Q5 flashlight in Norway without going completely broke. I also started geocaching earlier this year, which has given me both ideas for new projects and a new hobby to use my MTs for.
Finding this site gave me a lot of ideas for new projects and that's why I stayed after originally finding the link on a flashlight website. Since joining I've switched out my Skeletool for a Wave thanks to an awesome price from a member of this forum, and I've also added a LM Squirt P4 to my keychain and procured a Vic Spartan which I woodified and made my EDC. Tomorrow I'll be heading out to the store to get a Climber as I've realized since getting the Wave that scissors really are anything but pointless on a multitool.
I must say that this forum is without a doubt the friendliest forum I've ever encountered, and that says a lot. The site I work for has a rather large forum itself, I've been a moderator on several other forums and a normal member on dozens, and none of them has the atmosphere and mood of this place. Geocaching forums seem the absolute worst to me, no matter which of the forums it is, so going from being a new member there (which were my last new forums) to being one here was the biggest difference I've ever encountered. I know from experience that running a forum is always a pain in the ass when the trolls start flowing in. I've seen the most ridiculous excuses for human beings roam forums and some of them even follow the rules, just act in a way that makes everyone else want to leave. On the other hand I've seen staff members on sites run amok and think that they are the mighty god of everything, and that creates an equally unlivable atmosphere. This place lacks both those two issues, and it's a real pleasure to browse the forums.
So to those of you who haven't yet fallen asleep I thank you for making this place what it is, and to the rest: goodnight :salute:

We are... well me and you are Nuph! :P Maybe not the rest of this rascally bunch! >:D

Well I have been told I am rascally enough at times. Never too late or too early to hand out a welcome. Just don't expect a hug. :D

Sounds like you're our kind of people Andreas. :) From one DIY geek to another: Welcome aboard! :salute:
(one bit of advice though buddy, you need to SMILE! more...) :pok: :D :D

G'day & welcome mate :D :D :D
"a website called Anything but iPod"  :D :D :D

welcome here, I always enjoy your skeletool pics, and can't wait to see how you review the wave. My quick thought is that I prefer the skeletool as a screwdriver because the driver locks the bit, doesn't fold, and has backsprings to "lock" the tool in the stretch position. A real joy to use. I went from Charge ALX to Vic Spirit to Pulse to Skeletool to Wave. I realize that I need a bit driver, simply to versatile not to have, especially in robertson-land.
Anyways Welcome and you fit right in here. Perfectly happy with one MT until you hit this forum. then you have a collection

But it has the weefees!
Welcome aboard... belatedly. :D

I couldn't agree more! :tu:
Welcome Andreas :salute:

In the spirit of this thread I though I'd wait a little before saying; welcome to the forum Andreas.

"a website called Anything but iPod"  :D :D :D
Well the name might fool you, it's not an anti-iPod site; in fact it's a NOT ipod site. We're probably the biggest MP3 player site out there (not counting multi-device megasites like Cnet, Engadget) and we talk about every other brand, but never the iPod. Kinda like a complementary site to iLounge that talks about nothing but iPods. I guess that's why Apple leaves us alone, pretty damn hard to sue someone for not discussing them just because we state so in the title
Might hurt Jobs' feelings thought... but since I'm an iPhone user and have an iTouch on the side I think it's pretty balanced.
(one bit of advice though buddy, you need to SMILE! more...) :pok: :D :D
Whenever I smile people that know me tend to look around for something out of place >:D
It's been great having you here and glad that Wave is doing you well
It's wonderful. It was a very pelasant surprise to find the leather pouch had compartments for the bit adapter and bit kit! Might have to get the real bit kit now to put in there. The serrated blade is proving to be my favorite, so good at cutting stuff compared to a straight edge blade

Welcome aboard mate :tu:

Good to have you here.. :tu:

Er litt treig med å svare siden jeg nesten ikke titter innom denne delen men det er veldig godt å ha en annen nordmann her inne :D
And for the guys and gals that don't speak Norwegian, I just said welcome and told him it's good to have another Norwad here.

Jeg bruker bare listen over uleste poster, er ikke så mye aktivitet her annet enn at man rekker å følge med på alt :D

Yeah seem to be some of those here.. at least general Sci Fi fans. Neil has recognized both my Stargate references and HHGTTG references
On a random semi-related note, I find this knife utterly hilarious http://www.benchmade.com/products/42
With that one, I definitely smell fudge

Welcome! By the way, I've visited the anythingbutipod website several times over the last couple of years and it really is a good website, so thank you for your contributions there as well!
-
Needed something to do while the site was down and ended up (besides ordering a swisscard lite) adding an EDC part to my blog: http://andreasodegard.com/category/edc/
Anything EDC related will go there, as well as specific reviews etc
-
Welcome!

I noticed that my first name was not in use on the forum so I was lucky and got my nick changed
